Went on holiday over the weekend. The sat nav was working ok but then suddenly lost track of itself and the display said I was driving in the sea. I tried a reset of the infotainment (holding down the power button for 10 seconds) but it didn't help. In the end I had to turn the whole car off and lock/unlock it for it to reset. The following day I was heading home and all was good until it suddenly froze. Then it just kept saying recalculating route and in the end after rebooting it (including pulling into to a layby to turn car off/on) I got really annoyed with it all and plugged my phone in and used Android Auto which worked perfectly for the remaining 2 hour drive. The display on the digital cockpit was still coming up with all sorts of random stuff including saying part of the motorway was a 5MPH limit. It never did get its bearings again. It has done this a few times now. Is it a known issue ? I could do a map update but I don't think that would fix it as it couldn't even decide where it was. Cheers.

I liked the way all my previous Skodas had hidden SD slots so I could load a card up with songs and leave it in. My Scala only seems to have 2 sockets in the front and I find it looks crap having a USB drive hanging out one of the sockets especially since I have to use an adapter with the USB-C sockets. Have you found a tidier way to play music ?

The problem is that Google Assistant doesn't seem to work unless the phone is plugged in. I'm not sure if there is a way to make it work as that would be very useful.

Thanks. That's very interesting and could explain why the web site said it was included. It's actually something we had on the Octavia that we part-ex'd and was something that was used that's why we asked for it on the new car.

It says "Function not available" when the button is pressed. I wonder if a 3rd party can turn the function on. Skoda says it can't be added after the car leaves the factory which is really stupid.

UPDATE: If I plug the phone into a USB socket and then long-press the voice button then I can use Google Assistant. Just wondering if this can be done wirelessly now as I don't want to have to plug the phone in each time.

Ordered a Scala with the Voice Control (£25) as an extra but the dealership told me I don't need to add it as its included with the SEL model (he did show me the screen of his ordering page that says the Amundsen unit comes with it) and so I thought nothing more of it until I picked the car up to find it is NOT included and now after 13 weeks of messing around with Skoda Customer Services they tell me it cant be retrofitted which amazed me considering the button is on the steering wheel and it obviously links to the headunit so I cant see why it cant be software updated. Anyway I am now taking out a court case against the dealer for miss-selling the car but meanwhile ... What I want to be able to do is voice control the phone into making and sending a text message. Can you guys think of another way of doing this now I cant just press the button on the steering wheel ? I have seen a 3rd party Google Assistant thing that plugs into the USB socket but this isn't ideal :( Thanks.

The LEDs in the wing mirror went on one of mine (none dimming). The car was only 3.5 years old. What with all the chat about LEDs lasting virtually forever I explained that although the car was slightly out of warranty I would have thought it should be a free replacement. The dealership refused and said there was no inherent fault (despite me seeing several posts about the same faults here) and promptly charged me £38 for a replacement.

Thing is, its all the seats that its happening to, but more so the back ones. Think I'll just put it down to experience and get one of them JML thingys from ASDA next time I am in there. I'll ask the dealer when I take it for its service but I am guessing they wont have much to say about it.

OK thanks. Its due for a service soon so I may just see what the dealership has to say about it. I don't think its acceptable for an 18 month car to be in such a state. Its a shame really as I think the seat fabric and floor mats are the only thing letting Skoda down at the moment :( Cheers.

Hi, My wife has an 17 month old (61 plate with 14,000 Miles on clock) Octavia Elegance and the seats in both front and rear have what I would call bobbling. I did find another thread on the subject but this was on a 2008 (which may be pre-facelift) so I have started this thread in the hope anyone can help. I just wanted to know if this was a common fault and if there was anything the dealer could do ? I don't really want to have to fit seat covers as I don't like the look of them. Not sure why I should either as my 9 year old Corolla doesn't have the same problem. Thanks. Picking my new Octavia 1.6 TDI Elegance (Steel Grey) up on Christmas eve Dealer pulled that one a bit close (he promised pre-Christmas day delivery). Wonder if he will gift wrap it ? Very Merry Christmas to you all too !

Looks like it's an £185 factory fit for the MDI kit. What do you get for that ? Why do you say that about the SD cards ?

What are the options for adding an iPod connector to a Bolero unit on an Octavia Elegance ? I didnt have the option of having MDI fitted at the factory as the car was pre-built. If it's not an easy fit I could just buy an SD card. Whats the maximum size it supports ? Thanks.

Spooky but I am in exactly the same position ... Right down to the front tyres needing replacing. Difference between getting new car now and waiting for 12 plate is £700 trade in plus price of new tyres so I decided on having it now. Pick it up on Saturday

I agree but the fact was that when I ordered the car I was told that the wheel was "already in the car" so I just wanted to know what peoples thoughts were on whether I should pay for it. My thinking was that if the factory had written the wheel off and sold the car as standard to my dealer then there is no reason that the dealer should be charging me for it. I have no way of proving if the dealer had to pay for the wheel or not though :(
