  1. Folks the car is still for sale. Ive had to move home but not been able to sell the car. Still in Plymouth and moving away in October to join the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.

Description is still as above post and MOT runs out October time. I want it gone but wont accept silly offers. £1100 OVNO as it stands now. If anyone is interested in a bargain for a future classic then call me or WhatsApp me on the following:

Asking for a friend, as he's seen mine and looking for a new car himself.

    Thanks for that.

It's a good car but unfortunately needs must. In reality i need the price advertised so if he wants it and he can travel then let me know. I can sort out a coach ticket for him from mereoak park and ride if needed and pick him up from plymouth coach station. My email and mobile number is listed in previous post. 👍

  3. The only things wrong at the moment are:

There is a kickback on the brake pedal as you come to a stop. Not a massive kickback but is noticeable. Possibly a faulty abs sensor but no light or any lights on dash. Nothing on MOT.

There is yet another leak from the boot. Not massive but nonetheless a leak.

It slides into 1st gear. Possible synchromesh.

Too good a car too scrap or give to some wee yob to completely ruin. We all know how good these cars are so help me out folks and buy a cracking project.

  4. text.txtHi folks.

Unfortunately i need to sell the car. I’m moving home and need to sell soon. I desperately want someone from the owners club to buy the car because i don’t want just anyone to buy the car. It’s had no expense spared as per above description and needs someone with the enthusiasm, time and money to make this car a minter again.

Car sailed through its MOT this year and needed nothing to pass. Check on MOT checker and you will see the last few years worth of passes.

Please help me sell this car. Now for sale for a very very cheap £1100 OVNO.

Just had a quick look through the "cars for sale" classifieds and there's a vrs saloon for good money advertised in Plymouth.  I haven't checked if it's been sold but there's no update on the forum to that effect.

Hi car is still for sale. It’s done 127k miles now and has had a fair amount done to it. Got a new alternator loom and fuse box still to fit. Not had a chance as been struck down with covid the last few weeks and struggling with it. Got it last year and ended up in hospital and then caught it again. I want to sell it to an enthusiast and not some wee yob around here. Also id rather it went away from me so i don’t see it again lol. If your still interested check out the MOT history and you’ll see its been a mustard car. No expense spared and its been a good car for me.

Cheers I thought they looked like the resistors that you can get online they American plug and play ones. Once i get my electrical issue with the car sorted out I’m doing the deletes soon. Just need to collect the resistors to finish the job. Anyway looking forward to the rest of the thread.

  7. Aye i should have the parts for Monday morning so hopefully on Wednesday on my next day off ill strip out the old cable and refit the new harness and box. I’ll take some pictures if i can remember between swearing and going mental at the car.

i cant take the chance to clean the connectors and recrimp it if its going to cause issues further down the line. When i felt the cable earlier at work the moment i started the car the cable went instantly hot and after i revved it a bit it was scalding hot. So to be absolutely sure of the fix a new harness and fuse box i think is the right way to go.

Cheers for the advice and lets see what happens during the week. In the mean time if anyone has any guides or tips on how to do this it would be greatly appreciated.

  8. Well I’ve bit the bullet and order a new fuse box and black cable which I can only get with the harness. I used the part numbers from the sticky thread and ordered them from skodaparts.com c/o Bickerton Skoda in Sheffield at a cost of £171 delivered for Monday. I can’t afford to have the car off the road but at the same time I cant afford to get the parts at a cheaper rate and then try and fix the issue and it eventually costs more in the long run. I’m hoping the harness is easy enough to fit. It don't look too difficult as it literally plug and play by the looks of it…….. Well I’ve jinxed myself now.

I’d look at that door loom first. Take it completely out or get a multi meter on it and check for any breaks in the wires.

Will do. Had a quick look this morning and seen that the positive connection to the battery wasn't fully secured. Don't quite know how that had happened but its secured. However, the fuse box on top of the battery, the cable opposite the green fuses has had a wee flash point and marked the box in it. I will attach a picture. Weird but maybe the root of the issue.

  10. Bit of a weird one here. On occasions when i turn the engine off the power lights and engine INSTANTLY shut down and the MPG, clock and trip meter clocks on the car reset to 0.0. Then when i turn the ignition back on, voila. The engine fires up straight away. Then a few weeks later the car will do the same thing. Was wondering as i still have a bit of a water leak from the rear in the boot somewhere that maybe there is an earth or a connection that would a short the engine and electrics out or is their a connection underneath the seats in the floor? I have had a wee route around the web and i have heard about the CCM being an issue. Also the driver door will not open electrically and needs to be opened via the key in the lock. Could this be a suspect area for water leak and maybe shorting out the electrics? Any ideas on this?

  11. FOR SALE SKODA OCTAVIA VRS MK1

Hi and welcome to my listing for my beloved Skoda Octavia mk1 vrs

Its a 2004 Skoda Octavia mk1 VRS in black magic. MOT till October 24th 2022. It’s done 125k miles and will be used daily for work so except the miles to rise.

I’ve owned the car since 2016 and its never let me down. She goes well and no expense has ever been spared on her. All parts that were changed have come from TPS and GSF. I have paperwork and receipts for the majority of the work that’s been done and most of the parts that have been changed. The only 2 major issues I’ve had has been to replace the steering rack and a new genuine fuel pump both bought from TPS. When the car WAS off the road it was only because i had the brakes rebuilt by BIG RED in Worcester and it took 6 weeks for the calipers to come back. Things that have been done to the car in the years I’ve owned it:

New timing belt and water pump done @ 116k miles

Regular oil service every 6k miles using genuine oil and filters

    K+N panel filter

Genuine spark plugs, pollen and fuel filters and new coils done by a Skoda recall in 2018

New front and rear vented grooved and dimpled brake disks and mintex pads and refurbished calipers

Front braided brake hoses and new genuine brake fluid

AP 35 mm suspension kit and polyurethane bump stops

Full milltek stainless steel exhaust and 200cel sports cat non resonated system

R32 23mm front anti-roll bar with power flex bushes

neuspeed 28mm rear sway bar (freshly powder coated) including a full new hardware kit from Awesome GTI

    4 new ABS sensors

4 new hubs and wheel bearings

    2 new rear stub axles

Tinted windows all round with  Team Heko wind deflectors

4 new AVON 225/45/17 tyres done recently less than 4K miles ago

New steering rack and new genuine fuel pump both from TPS

I have receipts for majority of the work done and it hasn’t had any expense spared. Unfortunately is the time where i need to part ways with the VRS and with a little love from a new perspective owner, this car could be living to its full potential. So here is some things that are wrong:

Rear bumper has a small hole in the bumper as seen in the pictures

The nearside front wing has a dent

The sills are bent due to jacking points like cheese and bloody mechanics jacking it up on the sills after being told not too

Some small rust patches on the bottom of the sills at the corners of the wings and on the bonnet corners. At the moment just surface rust but in time will get worse if not attended too

The engine needs a good steam clean and detail due to oil leaks from the rocker cover i believe And the interior needs a deep clean and valet

The car has an intermittent fault where the driver door lock wont open on the key fob but will on the key. Diagnosed as door lock motor

Not sure what is causing the power to hold back (not massively and no codes ) but believe it be a boost leak and cannot find the cause. Don’t have VCDS either to diagnose but believe it could possibly be the MAF, map sensor or the N75 valve.

I am genuinely sad at having to sell this car but i just cannot afford to run her. Its been the best car I’ve had in a long time and yet again is a testament to how well made Skodas are.

I will not sell the car to just anyone. I want this car sold to an enthusiast or someone who will enjoy it. The price I’m looking reflects what i believe it to be worth however i will accept offers around that price so please serious buyers or interest only.

  12. Afternoon people. Just thought i would do a wee update on the car. Got all the parts i need now to do the repairs:

2 new wheel bearings and hubs for both front and back, new rear window regulator, door lock barrel screw, brake disc retaining screws and i managed to find screws from screwfix that fit the abs sensors. They were a pain to find the correct part so took a chance on and bought these and done a test fit to the new hubs and they fit really well. Nice and secure. So if anyone needs to find something like that the screw size that works is M6x20mm from screwfix: £5.59

and today i though i would give the car a wee wash and polish. First time for a good while. It’s been used as no more than a trundlewagon to get to and from work so treated it to a snow foam, wash and polish. So here’s a few pics. Needs a good machine polish and the usual few wee rust spots starting and a nice hole in the rear bumper courtesy of a moped but for now it’ll do.

They look ok, just check the allen head is well formed, as it may not be an issue now when you fit them, but if the head is shallow, that will be a real pain in a few months if you have to remove them again for some reason.

Do you not have a place like this - https://www.versatilefixings.com/   local to you?.  I use independants like this all the time for nuts and fixings. Have you checked your local internet for such a place?.

I’ll l certainly have a wee look. See what’s available.

I’ve ordered the m6x20mm for the sake of £5.59. If its a no no then I’ve only lost a fiver compared to much more.

If your dealer wants to sell you 25 screws, find another dealer. Both my Skoda main agent and my local VW agent will, and have sold to me on an individual basis.

If you have a TPS local to you, they will sell on an as needed basis. If all else fails, just use a local trade screw supplier from the yellow pages, as you have the thread size and length. My local screw specialist does 10 M6 screws for £1 regardless of length - something to think on?.

Copper grease on the disc screws is your friend for easy removal next time.

As for the thanks, not necessary, its my pleasure buddy, hope you get sorted, as it sounds like you have a PITA parts man at your local dealer - they are not all like that, mine are good as gold.

I do have a TPS local to me but stopped selling to me as he said my company that i work for was blocked for some reason. Don’t know why but they just wont serve me. Ive had loads from them the last 2 years including a fuel pump steering rack etc. Will have a look at other options for some abs securing screws. And I will be using copper grease this time, as everything I’ve touched on the car is either seized or needed some kind of heat to remove. If he’s as good as you say will you ask him the price for 4 abs sensor bolts and I’ll l sort you out? Lol

So far I’ve ordered parts from online car parts: wheel hubs and bearings for both front and back, a window regulator for the rear driver side and 4 brake disc screws, got 2 door lock screws on order from Skoda for the handsome price of 84p so now just need them abs sensor bolts. Then i need to address an oil leak somewhere so need to have a good root around next time I have the car on the lift and see what’s what. Plus when its really warm like it has been down in good ol Plymouth the car struggled for power so need to address the intercooler somewhere. Maybe clean it out or see if i can save up for a FMIC. It’s all good fun as they say.

  15. Ordered 2 new door lock barrel screw M5 x 9 from the main dealer and they want a grand total of………. 84p. Priced up brake disc and abs screw and they only come in packs of 25 and they are priced at 17.10 and 54.09 respectively. Not a chance I’m paying that for 4 screws for the discs and 4 bolts for the abs sensors. So ordered the door lock barrel screw. Pick up Tuesday.

Also thanks to Kentphil1 for putting me in the right direction with part no’s etc. I’m useless with searching for things especially parts so once again good sir thank you
