edbostan, just coming up to 68,000 on the first set of brakes and discs. My local independent garage suggests that they are changed this time round. Otherwise his comment of "I'm impressed" echoes my general feeling about the Roomster.

Just picked up on this thread ('bin busy!). A couple of years back I had a similar thought which I shared with my local garage.
The comments by goneoffSki are familiar. The local chap suggested that there would not be any discernable improvement in performance over a regular change of the currently fitted filters.
The induction kit were not worth the money (his comment) unless I planned a run across the Sahara (his comment). If I were to do that he would not recommend me taking "George" - though if I did he would come for the laugh (his comment)...

Redjoolz, mine also had the steel spare. My local independent garage gave the same advice as Keitht.
I have recently had to replace all four corners and after some research went for Nexen BlueEco (http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Nexen/N-Blue-ECO.htm). £283 fitted with the tracking also sorted. I have previous had the Barum Bravuris2 (http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Barum/Bravuris-2.htm). Really happy with the Barum, though not the quietest on the road. Some road surfaces generated a noticeable increase in noise.
Time and travel (150 miles so far) will tell how well the new Nexens wear, etc. First impressions though are good, noticeably quieter on all road surfaces. They also seemed to cope well with the recent heavy rains locally.

JakeBlade, thanks for the article. I think I am right in suggesting that this topic has appeared in a number of motor forums.
I have previously queried the use of different grades with my local (trusted) garage. Their comments suggested that the shorter inner town journeys cause far more problems to the engine management than the grade of fuel will ever do. Hence, every so often we head out for a long "revvy" run round north wales, naturally sticking to the speed limit.
Locally the price of fuel tends to dictate which grade I buy. I had a spell using BP Ultimate, at a premium price too! I keep a record of motoring costs and note that during the use of the Ultimate there was only a 2 mpg gain over the supermarket stuff. Currently Shell is very competively priced, so I am using that. What the change internally might be, I hope I will never know.
Touching wood to be certain of my next observation, the car has always passed the emissions test for the MOT. Further the garage have never raised any query regarding other consumable components. I have been shown an oil filter that failed to live up to what it said on the tin. I am led to believe that that was due to very poor (cheap) quality oil being used. As the mechanic pointed out then, you cannot skimp on oil.
I suspect your posting will draw other comments, both for and against. Still, thanks for the post it helped pass a coffee break!

Disappointing to read about your problem. It is to be hoped that Skoda will promptly resolve the matter. I have the 07 plate and have (so far, 60,000 miles) not come across any similar query. Best wishes

It looks similar to an antivibration pad that was fitted to the old Skoda P100 rear brakes. There again I might be wrong...

I too have the Dance unit though I have not experienced any problem with the radio turning itself on (or off).

I too have a 2007 plate.I have just checked and there are no signs of rust on the door hinges, front or back. During these last couple of winters I have been particularly keen on cleaning road salt off as soon as practicle. Maybe slightly fussy but I do think it has helped keep the paint work in good order.

Excellent, many thanks. I think I was getting a little spooked at the seemingly huge range of aerials that are quoted as being suitable. A job for a non wet Saturday.

The Dance radio has finally given up on reception. I gather I need to replace the head unit. Mine is the 07 plate Roomster 2 with the aerial at the roof front. Has anyone any words of wisdom/guidelines as to sourcing a new unit - are there any upgrades, etc?
I was wondering about a Shark Fin replacement: again any thoughts or comments.
Finally, I have accessed the interior fitting, the swap over doesn't look too difficult. The only query is that there does not appear to be a great deal of 'slack' in the wiring. Again, any comment about fitting would be welcomed.

Me too! Must remember the wheel well cover thing for possible future adventures. My Dad's old car had to have the bumper removed to change the headlamp bulbs - just how stupid is that idea!! Maybe that is why there are so many 'one eyed' cars on the road these days. Thanks again for the tips.

Grafitti, thanks for your comment - I shall watch out for that one too. I had amore time yesterday evening so had another rummage on Google. There are a reassuring number of similar incidents across a variety of car/bulb manufacturers. Maybe, due to the time of year with the lights being used more frequently, also, the bulbs being the originals, circumstance conspired to cause my hands being shredded! Hopefully all will now be well...

Popped out last night for a quiet few moments at the local pub. All went well until I came to drive home - No headlights!! Fortunately I was able to get home safely. This morning I discovered that both the head lamp bulbs had blown. The bulbs that needed replacing have been in since new so I presume that is an acceptable life span.
Google search has shown that the situation is not unknown, that said, I have never had both bulbs blow at the same time; fuses are OK too.
After a good deal of blood letting I now have the new bulbs in place, so, I might tempt fate and pop out for a quiet few moments at the local...

Maybe not as exciting for me, however, I have shifted all my son's student gear in one go from Sheffield to Manchester to Newcastle-dependent on his higher degree process. Seats out with the bike, guitar, amps, turntable, speakers, bedding and all the usual student paraphenalia (except girlfriend/s). I have to say we couldn't see much out of the rear window! As above, I wish I had taken a photograph. Fortunately he has bought himself a VW camper which can only just take his current stack of kit...

LOL! Showed the pictures to SWMBO'd, her reaction? 'Well, alright if you like that sort of thing.'
Some hard work in the near future as I am trying to convince her that we need to change the Roomster for a Yeti (probably white).

I agree with JohnSTV6 it could be the frost warning being activated. When you next hear the 'bong' have a look at the dash board, you should see the given temperature with a small snowflake symbol flashing. It only lasts a few moments.Usually 'bongs' when the temperature drops below 4 degrees. Keep warm...

Marky, only time I have had a similar problem with the sensors is when they were dirty/wet. A quick wipe over solved the problem. So far, touch wood, not a problem with the fan. I know it always a risk with sdealers, that said, if they are any good they will be able to diagnose the problem/s.

Grafitti, one of my sons is into surfing (big time): he has used a similar system on both his Audi and girl friends VW Beetle. He is truly well pleased with it's portability and has never had a problem with it. For a week or so I used it on my Roomy 2 (07 plate) again with no problems. Follow the mfg instructions and just be satisfied that you are safe and secure and away you go.

Totally agree with previous comments - do not use a sponge. Grit get stuck in the sponge and will show as minute scratch marks that seem to get exaggerated in the sunshine.
As regards the camera work, please thoroughly read the manual then just start using all the different settings. Years ago, in a camera club, we were asked to go a photograph a lamppost using all the possible settings on the camera. Sounds deadly dull but the resultant 'photos were a huge help in understanding the camera's potential.
Hope you get to grips both with the new camera and the youngster damaging the paintwork!!

Denkirk, i do a fair amount of out doors stuff and the bumper on my 07 plate was also getting scratched. I have cut and shaped a large piece of old cushion floor covering to fit over the bumper. The covering is pushed under the rubber boot lip seal and to date hasn't come adrift. I tend not to leave it on all the time, only when it is needed. There has been some pretty rough stuff when getting the bike over and into the boot, so far no damage; cheap too!

Our Roomter did the same: cured by fitting a set of wind deflectors. Found these to be an excellent invetsment when I forget to fully close the window when it rains!!

Andy, welcome to the forum. I fitted Philips Extreme soon after picking up 'Derrick' (Diesel, get it?). I do a lot of country driving and have found them more than adequate. Hyphons has given the website I used. Be aware that the bulbs can be a bit fiddly to change but not impossible. Follow the manufacturer's warnings about touching the lens surface, otherwise enjoy the drive.
