  1. From my experience, the iv does charge the battery a bit when plugged into the HV mains. Using a voltmeter the built in charger is not at a high enough voltage and looks like a poor 12V battery charger is installed unfortunately. My Ctek finishes the job in AGM mode and should preserve the 12V battery life from previous experience.
  2. 14 plate, 85k miles, DSG 1.6TDI Replaced drivers side window switch water pump battery all disks/pads tyres both H7 front headlamps serviced yearly at 18k miles Boot light switch now gone, probably the switch at fault from reading in here.
  3. Just to add my experience to this. After 50K miles and 2 years 11 months from new, my battery tested at 21% capacity today at a local Bosch service centre! I am having it replaced under warranty but my daily round trip is 62 miles including 18 miles of motorway each way (everywhere from 70 to 0 crawl though). No warnings though. I asked them to check the battery as some starts were sluggish.
  4. I fitted a super cap 5 week sago when my battery died. These are my settings when using the battery and now the super cap. I use a 64GB Kingston card.
  5. They used to call it VPower, supposedly fuel with artificial additives http://www.shell.co.uk/motorist/shell-fuels/shell-v-power-nitro-plus/shell-v-power-nitro-plus-diesel.html Always a cracker for a forum debate!
  6. I have had issues with supermarket fuel in the past on more than I car so I only use Shell wherever possible. I have a points card and go to the cheapest station locally. I occasionally use the expensive Nitro stuff when it is on offer but I've not noticed any particular benefits so hopefully a tank full cleans out the crud or I am wasting about £4 a tank.
  7. The skoda rubbers are great. Haggle and/or try more than one dealer? On my last 4 cars, once I had negotiated the price and spent an hour on the paperwork, I suddenly remember the rubbers. Instead of redoing the paperwork they were just delivered with the car :-)
  8. I have the 1.6TDI DSG and average mpg is about 60 for a 30 mile commute, so 60 miles a day. For the first 30k miles I tracked with fuelly (below) but I then got bored of filling it in weekly. Best is about 70mpg and worst is mid 40s when stuck in heavy traffic for hours.
  9. Just checked my VIN and I have the DSG7. I have filled in the contact us form to see if my box is sealed for life or needs the 40k change.
  10. As above the steelers have a master set. I borrowed a dealers key today after mine was knackered by another dealer. Anyway once you know the letter or number code then ebay will get you one at less than half the cost.
  11. DMK Wakefield really helped me out today when my locking wheel nut key was damaged. Casting no blame but the last ones to replace the wheels were DMK Leeds when I had new front pads 6 weeks ago. Anyway the Wakefield chaps lent me a key from their master set so I could loosen the lockers enough so my key worked. My Summer wheels are back on :-) so expect snow in April :-( They even made me a coffee.
  12. Cars have single glazing. Simple physics say cold suface = condensation. Some 1kg silica gel bags will absorb the moisture. Look up on amazon. Holy grail is a heated garage.
  13. My drivers side window has developed a fault on my Octy III. When I hold the button up to close the window as it hits the stop instead of stopping it immediately goes down again. The window can be closed with quick reaction but is there a simple fix or is it back to the steeler? My 2014 is in warranty but there is hassle and time expense if it has to go back in.
  14. DorsetBelle welcome to Briskoda. Some very knowledable people in here (and a few muppets of course). Go ahead with the car. If you are affected you will be one of thousands and in good company.
  15. Local radio discussing fog lights yesterday. 3 presenters saying they didn't know how to turn them on...
  16. My mower seems to run smoother on the nitro+, still no more than 4mph on the power drive though so no speed increase. I also read recently that is better to run small engines on the premium stuff.
  17. I have a set of skoda rubber ones with a raised lip. I haggled them in.
  18. I have rio red in elegance spec. Shows scratches, dents and dirt more than my old, sold silver MKII.
  19. Interesting. I'm due my first service and if fleet try to send to a non Skoda mechanic I'll call SUK to see if there are any service campaigns.
  20. To close this, I took it back and had it re-done. Its better but not perfect. Then again it is a lumbering 4x4 so parobably the car that isn't that well balanced. Been spoilt by Subarus!
  21. Tyres are good and evenly worn. Due to where we live, we run summer and winter tyres. When the alignment was done the winter tyres had done around 6 k miles with fronts at 6mm rears at 8mm. Another month is remaining on the manufacturer warranty.
  22. Thanks kentphil1 Car was empty but with a full tank of diesel. Car is 2012 and mileage at 15,500.
  23. Our Mitsubishi was drifiting to the left so it went in today for wheel alighment on a snap-on rig as forum consensus says these is better than the Hunter. Car is better but still has a slight drift to the left left. I need help please on the before and after. The after has some red numbers that to my uneducated mind look like out of tolerance. Can anyone help me by looking at the printout?
