  1. I've run two Yetis on the these wheels (for my winter tyre setup) - no problems whatsoever without spacers. Sorry to drop in so late with this comment - I've been out of action due to health problems.
  2. Skoda have just built my replacement (for a Muscovado 2010) Yeti in Muscovado! Am I boring or what? Its a like for like job, but with extra goodies (some of which were not available in the early days). Seems like they found some Muscovado paint somewhere...... So "no muscovado paint in the factory" was a serious dose of ****! Mind you, I haven't seen the new vehicle yet! I hope it doesn't turn up in bright pink....
  3. A 2013 Yeti Pantechnican (spelt right?)? I bet Clarkson has already thought of it....

    Waiting List

Mine would have been coming up for 3 years old in April 2013 - this is when I usually trade them in for another. Early enquiries at the local dealer revealed a wait of 6 - 7 months for new-builds. So, to be on the safe side, I ordered in mid August, with a Feb/Mar delivery in mind. Had a phone call recently, "car due for week 46 build". Phone call last week says "its built, and on its way to England - expect to take delivery in 2 weeks". Too quick!!! How do they always manage to wrong-foot you?
  5. Well, here's a good 'un!. Came back to England after 5 weeks away. Knew the washer bottle was empty, so filled up. Fluid poured all over the floor underneath from an obvious, serious leak somewhere. Bloody idiot, I thought, I'd left some ordinary water in the system, which has frozen and blown something apart. So I took it down to my local garage (they're very good) and asked them to investigate. They fixed it in an hour, refilled the reservoir, and charged £30 (inc VAT). But, here's the interesting bit........ The pump for the headlight washer was held in position by a cable tie placed all round the reservoir and the outlet hose of the pump. The cable tie had stretched, and allowed the pump to come away from the reservoir, thus causing the leak. This really should have been a waranty job! It is not possible to see this cable tie from above (looking into the engine compartment). It can only be seen from underneath, when the sumpguard plate has been removed. But when was it attached? I've had the vehicle from new, and had one dealer service. My local mechanic suspects it was factory fitted, knowing there might be a problem with the headlight pump becoming detatched (its a plug-in type fitting). Anyone have any knowledge or experience of this? If not, look out for it!
  6. Personally I have been unable to compress mine further so the above did not work for me. Perhaps its the leather seats. Just needs a bloody good shove - leather seats will go!

    Ice Warning

Mine does too! But I think mine is quite loud - at least as loud as the "please refuel" bong (which I've heard far too many times recently!).
  8. I've had a very happy last year and a half (22,000 miles) with a vehicle I've really come to love! I don't know if I've helped the sales figures but, like Armayeti, have proudly shown the Yeti to loads of curious strangers...... So, best wishes for the new year to all Yeti owners and patient, hopeful will-be owners!

    LED's

With the "resistor in series" design, if an LED fails the circuit is broken and no current will flow. The elec-tricks will spot this and flag a bulb failure as normal.
  10. Just caught up with this....wow! Best of luck whatever you do, and very many thanks for your contributions and help. Its good that you'll stay in touch!
  11. Sadly, there are reports of people being charged an "administration fee" by some insurance companies, and some other companies have not subscribed to the ABI commitment regarding winter tyres, so may still charge extra - lunatic!
  12. Thanks so far - there are some other Yeti ownwers with 4D tyres, we'll see what they have to say in "the fullness of time"!
  13. Here's my Yeti kitted up with winters - they're Spectrum alloys (from the Superb) with Dunlop 4D tyres. JR from Allams arranged the supply and fit brilliantly about 5 weeks ago. I notice both davecarter and LondonLes have the 4D tyres too; I'd be glad to hear their long-term comments (in the Winter Tyres section, of course!).
  14. Our Fabia did this a few months ago. It does seem that the 1.2 does not like being re-started after a very short run. Leaving a multi-storey car park the exit barrier was being repaired. So, switched off engine and waited a few minutes. Re-started and drove out into the road and Christmas lights lit up on the dash and we were in limp mode. Made it to a stopping point, switched off. 10 minutes later, re-started and off we went ok. Dealer checked it; guarded reply from them, but nothing found wrong. I suspect they cleared fault codes though.
  15. Just caught up with this topic - three builders and I (all working on my kitchen extension) stopped work - not for tea, but to observe the silence. Also noticed a motorist who pulled up outside the house and sat quietly in his car, then drove off at the end of the two minutes.
  16. Couldn't find this on Aviva's website; perhaps I'm being thick! Can you point me to the page? I'd really like to avoid (yet another) call centre dose of "customer service" preceeded by lengthy periods of electronic music, assurances that my call is important....blah, blah, blah!
  17. Just put these tyres on the Yeti (should ensure we have a mild winter, eh?!). The 225/50/17 wheels and tyres are into storage, and on have gone 215/60/16 all round, on Spectrum wheels. No noticable noise increase, but a decidedly softer ride and slightly spongier steering feel. Any other 4D users out there yet? The only reviews I've seen so far have been on pre-production tyres given to the motoring press (but good reviews). But nothing beats real life experience!
  18. I've just put Dunlop Winter Sport 4D (215 60 16) all round on the Yeti. This is a new tyre - would love to hear of anyone else's experience with them. My impression so far? Not noticable extra noise, but softer ride and the the steering feels slightly spongier. Mind you, they have replaced 225 50 17 which give a very nice steering response. Hardly a good test so far - temperatures in the low teens. If the weather does change I'll be able to give a more considered opinion! I'll put another post in this forum with the tyre name heading which should attract a wider audience.
  19. TP - its great we're retaining your expertise. Information you've provided has been brilliant - thanks!
  20. Pretty well everything suggested so far drops into the "niceties" category, and implies that the good old Yeti ain't too bad as it came!
  21. Have you noticed the national advertising campaign by Audi plugging their winter tyre package? I can't recall any motor manufacturer doing this (in the UK) before. Perhaps the manufacturers will plug the wisdom of this before the goverment, and raise better awareness amongst the motoring public!
  22. Spotted the wood despite the trees, eh?!
  23. i find the turning circle very good - I was about the only person to be able to turn round at the end of the close where I used to live in one go. I enjoyed that!
  24. Thanks all. To be fair, the dealer did make good efforts to rectify the problems. The first time, they drove over to me to collect and then return the car (but pity they didn't check all was well first). Offer to do the same was repeated but, due to personal committments, I decided to hold on for a while before having it looked at again. But, when I was ready, they booked it in within a day of me ringing them back so (and it suited me to take it in myself), fair enough, can't make much fuss about their efforts!
