  1. as well as my radiator sqeak the stereo display works intermitantly. when it goes off the reactions to any control on the stereo are very slow compared to when the display is working. skoda have told my i need a new stereo but i just done trust them as they seem to always want to replace everything.... has anyone experienced this and can it be fixed????

  2. help..... ovet the last 6 months my 54 reg octavia vrs has developed an annoying squeak when i close doors or go over speed bumps. the noise is less after rain. i have sourced the speak to the bottom right of the radiator and have sprayed wd40 without success. can anyone tell me what this is and how it can be fixed. also is there a quick fix as i am trying to sell the car and dont want to spend money on if i dont need too. ????

  3. hello,

im going through something similar with my 54 vrs at the mo. the central locking not working from the fob on drivers door. they have changed the door motor, window mechanism and variuos corroded sections of wire in the loom. it is currently in getting the control unit changed as this is the only option left to fix it. from my (limited) expereince find a garage willing to check the wiring loom (time consuming but cheaper) rather than just change it (as skoda offered to do which is expensive). if not this then could be the control unit. this is just my expereice though and may not apply to yours (i know stuff all about electrics...)

    good luck

  4. i bought a 54 reg vrs 30k, at the end of feb 08. i bought with the driver lock barely working with the key fob and the stereo display not working properly and being very slow to react. after variuos investigation my friendly local garage changed the central locking motor then found that the part of the door locking in the window motor wasnt working (the windows didnt open and close with the key either). the central locking was still not working and they have now found variuos corroded wires which they say looks like from a water leak. they have replaced these wires but now say it is some part of the bus wiring (or sommit like that). he is trying to find exactly where the break is as he said changing the wiring coil is a big job. i am lucky because he is not charging me for labour costs as i use the garage for work vehicles, but does this sound reasonable. is the stereo problem also connected?

he has suggested that there has been a leak at some poing or possibly the vehicle stood in water - he is also going to look at the seals on the windscreen

i would be grateful for any advice!!!!

also while investigating this problem at the skoda garage i reported a tapping noise which the skoda garage told me was a loose timing chain, more common in tt's apparently. this scared the cr*p out of me when he told me the cost! i took for a second opinion at my local garage again and he said it fine and explained the variuos tapping noises. its still at the back of my mind though. is there a way of knowing for sure????

thanks to anyone who can help
