  1. I was just about to change the rear interior lights in my SEL Fabia when I noticed the "0" end of the light faces the front of the car. In the you tube video the "0" faces the rear end the electrical connection faces the front. I don't want to lift up the wrong end. My car is fitted with the panoramic roof but I can't see how this would make a difference. Any suggestions which end I should attack first? John
  2. Ordered my Fabia SEL 110 DSG on the 20th 0f Jan 2016 and arrived at the dealers a couple of days ago - so about 2 months.
  3. Thanks for the info Allicia8. Did my wife's Citigo this morning - works a treat! John
  4. Hi All, I recently drove my wife's white Citigo and I noticed the noise of grit hitting the rear wheel arches. When you look at the car from the side you notice the white painted area behind the wheel, which stand out even more if you have black wheels. The car has to go back to the dealer to have its interior light looked at so I will investigate having plastic arch inserts and the area behind the wheel turned black! John
  5. Yep , using my winter tyres in "anger" for the first time today , getting my wife to work. About 5" of snow in my area - Nan SV2's worked perfectly. John
  6. Thanks chaps. Thats cleared that up ! John
  7. The Fabia manual says you should take the reading when the car is warm. I did this a couple of days ago and it was about half way up the hatched area on the dipstick - fine I thought. I took the reading today when the engine was cold and it just lower than the very bottom of the hatched area. I thought surely I cannot have used that much oil in 2 days I warmed up the engine and the oil level went back to the original level. You would think the oil would drain down and give a higher level with a cold engine! Does this mean you could easily over fill the engine with oil if you used the cold readings ? John
  8. Thanks for the link. Found my engine code - Located correct tyre size - thats the winter tyres I have fitted - printed out the page for reference, John
  9. Thats what I bought The 15" wheels DO fit the Fabia Mk2 vRS. John
  10. They look like these:- http://www.wheelbasealloys.com/15_Inch_Steel_Wheels_for_Skoda_Fabia__3545 John
  11. I bought the Nankangs. Not put them on yet but the tread seems substancial , about 9mm deep in places. The other thing I noticed is that they have to be fitted with the correct rotational direction - the marking on the tyre wall is very small and its easy to miss it. Probably fit mine mid Nov and remove end of March. John
  12. Getting a set of steel wheels for winter tyres saves damage to expensive alloys and elliminates any salt damage to the alloys. While the alloys are off I shall give them a good clean. John
  13. Received my winter tyres and steels a few days ago. ( 185 X 55 X 15" ) Went for the Nankang ones as they seem ok according to the reviews and are not too expensive. Tried one on today - it just manages to clear the disc brakes. The Skoda wheel bolts also fit the new steel wheels supplied by MyTyres. No problem with delivery from Germany. Plan to put them on in November ( no matter what the weather) and take them off in March. Got some 15" plastic wheel trims from Halfords in a sale - £15 - they also fit fine, John
  14. If your thinking of getting winter tyres - get them now before the first snowflake falls John
  15. Yep , ordered Nankang's on steel rims from MyTyres a few days ago. I noticed today they had gone up in price by £17 for each tyre/rim unit. John
  16. Misfire on cold start - replaced injector on cylinder 3 - problem solved. The dealers did have to keep the car overnight and start the engine from cold so they could replicate the fault. John
  17. Dealer can get them or Skoda Parts have them both front and rear. http://www.skodaparts.com/accessories John
  18. Yep , some but not excessive about 1.25 litres in 3000 miles. John
  19. After being in the garage for 3 days the exhaust warning light problem ( flashes after a cold start) has been fixed. The fault registered as a misfire on cylinder 4. The mechanics had to do a bit of head scratching as the injector on cylinder was replaced but the fault was still there. It turned out to be the injector on cylinder 3 that was faulty. Why the fault registered on cylinder 4 I have no idea. They also said that they replaced a missing seal.( not sure which) When the car starts from cold it idles smoothly - success - This is the only problem I have had with the car. John
  20. My vRS ( Feb 2011) is in the garage at the moment. Sometimes ( only when cold ) there is a misfire - exhuast warning light comes on. They kept the car in over night. Started the car the next day - sure enough if left to idle - exhaust warning light flashes. They have sent the computer printout to Skoda. So far - they have found a missing seal ( not sure which one) and they are replacing some parts. I am lucky that I have an excellent Skoda dealer ( been with 8 years) Will post the details when I have discussed this with the mechanics. John
  21. Been using Shell V-power for the last 2 weeks. So its not the fuel. Also I only once put Momentum in once and every other occasion has been v-power. John
  22. The dealers kept my car overnight so they could start it from cold this morning ( Thursday 28th July) When they started the engine the exhaust warning light started to flash. They have sent the computer info directly to Skoda. The error code is a misfire. This misfire never occurs during driving or if I start the engine and move away immediately and do not let it idle. It only occurs from a cold start and if the engine is left to idle. The engine sounds rough at 1200 revs but as the revs drop to 800 it smooths out. I assume its the misfire at 1200 revs then at 800 revs the misfire stops. I hope tomorrow the dealers will be able to tell me what the problem is and fix it. John
  23. Dealers are keeping the car in on Wednesday night. This is so they can try and preplicate the fault on start up from cold on Thursday. John
