  1. Brutalink A5 2.0T:

Many Thanks to the guys at QT and Cuppa for his services. I'm sure I will find myself at QT's door a lot more often.
Many Thanks also to Smee for organising and Cav for all the info in this thread.

The 2.0T is running sweet. Exceptionally economical at unmentionable speeds.
It was great to meet people as enthusiastic about the B8 as I!

P.S. The Revo Intake sounds ridiculous, I love it

    Smee A5 2.0TDi:

great meeting you all had a great day at QT again smile.gif

i managed 6 more MPG on usual route clearly i aint using my remap properly lol

    Adamantium A5 3.0Tdi:

    Big thanks for organising this.

I ended up convincing REVO to let me go on the friday and it's lucky I did. My car took around 6 hours! Wouldn't have managed it on the saturday. Really great place and really great guys - lovely pizza too.

Kelvin was very hospitable and made the long stay comfortable.

The car feels incredible - well worth every penny and it was especially nice to benefit from the full discount at the very last minute!

I'd recommend revo, but I'd recommend QT even more - great logo btw!

So, managed to get booked in earlier than originally planned for the work, consisting of:
    - Revo stage 1+ remap
    - Revo pulley upgrade
    - Revo DSG remap
    - Milltek catback exhaust (non-res, quad black tips)
    - 034Motorsport Transmission Mount install
Wow – what a difference!! Dave took me out after the work was complete (took nearly all day - quattro–tech are perfectionists which is a good thing!), and showed me the difference between stock (including pulley change of course) and then the full-on performance remap. Awesome – the torque increase in phenomenal and marries well with the DSG changes. I’m still getting used to the change – it needs careful handling! What gets me is how easy it is to drive normally – just put into drive select “auto” or “comfort” mode (staying out of sport mode!) and the car is a pussy cat. In dynamic mode things are a bit more lively – I found the best way to get the most out of the upgrades is to use manual mode as the auto downshifts, although much quicker, are still not quick enough. The Milltek is very good too - I was worried about drone as I went for the non-resonated version, but unlike the Milltek on my V8 S5, there is none at all.

Would I recommend this to anyone else? Most definitely! Not cheap, but given that I now have a sub 3.7 0–60mph car, it’s good value.

Now for the guys at quattro-tech – what a great team. I and am very impressed with their attitude and company ethos, taking time out to discuss what is happening with my car and were genuinely interested in what I had to say. If you need something doing, these are the guys to go to. I can’t thank Dave, Darryl or Kelvin enough for all they have done – cheers guys."

  2. I'll put some quotes up from other members from the A5OC who attended Baptistsan

For my input, QT have been nothing but a pleasure to deal with and I've done 3 GB's with them. I've put over 35 customers through their door and every review/comment has been positive. If I was closer, I'd use them for all my work (190 miles each way is a little far for a service  :envy:  lol)

    Cav:

Quite a trek there for me this morning but well worth it to meet you all and the team at QT.

Not had a remap myself (this time), but I think it's rare to find a garage that is so open and honest as these guys were.
Nothing was hidden, and we were left to ask, touch and watch anything we wanted to basically thumbsup.gif

Bonus that Kelvin didn't poison us , or me at least, with the BBQ either tango_face_devil.png

If I was only closer, there's no-one I'd rather take my cars too!

Last minute deposits came in so we made the 30% off cheers.gif and 5 cars had the Carbon cleaning from Cuppa too.

Please show some support back to them for the support they have given us today and post them a review/rating comment etc on their facebook sites.

Hope you all are as happy with the remaps as I was when I did mine.

  3. Good to hear you found an acceptable resolution.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the head unit once you become acquainted.

I was offered this as an option to my missing sat nav as well, but declined.

Well first impressions are OK. TMC doesn't seem to work yet so it'll go back in for that. My only other real gripe is that the directions are on the nav unit only and don't appear in the colour Maxidot.

The display is different to the OE one i'd used, its much more like a seperate sat nav would be (a Garmin one to be precise). Colours are a bit bright on the screen but it's easy to see and use.

Still happy they got it added in for me (for free), but would have still preferred the OE one that it should have come with.

    Skoda video of it here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV7BJXxOOME&annotation_id=563d4419-0000-2f8a-843d-94eb2c062efc&feature=iv&src_vid=iZum-oyjNwc

  4. Update from my Missing sat Nav Problem

My Skoda dealer had just fitted a Kenwood MIB Nav Interface (skoda part number: ZGB 5E0 051 259) which has now given me Sat Nav (via the Media button) on my Balero head unit.

I believe the upgrade is compatible with Octavia 2013> (but my my2016 needed Kenwood to sort a new lead out) and the Fabia 2014>

    Happy camper! :D

  5. Isn't this stuff similar to terraclean that was featured on wheeler dealers a while ago?

    http://www.terraclean.co.uk/

Similar. from what I checked out beforehand, Terraclean is a fuel additive system and this one goes into the air intake.

I chose this one as it was cheaper, I'd seen loads of good feed back (I can't find the disaster stories goneoffSkion1) and I really wanted the intake manifold/EGR and anti shudder valve cleaned through and I wasn't sure how something introduced through the fuel, further down the line could do it.

  6. Perfect customer for this sort of thing then.

Not sure if this is a dig or not Wino?

What I meant was, they are hardly likely to tell all that happens as other companies could just do the same.

I don't know how many things are made, produced, setup, distributed etc but I'm happy to use them, I sure we're all the same.

And it's the same with this. I wouldn't have been the first guinea pig to try it, but now I can see lots of others who have tried it and had good results, without anything going wrong, then why not?

  7. I don't know how it works or understand the science, nor do i care to be honest.  :notme:

I just know that on Saturday morning my car drove one way, £80 later (as it was part of a multi car deal) it drove another.

I shared it because 1, it worked and 2, it was cheaper than any alternatives - I was eying up one of these before trying this instead.

I had a look through the facebook side and there is some pictures of before and after components and loads of happy results and though its worth a shot.

5 cars were done on the day (most of them where Audi A5's from the A5OC forum), All of the guys were happy with the result.

just seen this posted yesterday with before and after dyno results on the A5OC:

Ok so today I met up with Cuppa and Den at Surrey Rolling Roads to test out the clean on my S5 (56.3k miles) so that I could prove to myself that it was worth the money!

In short.. we did just that.

Throughout the entire process the car did not move today. It was strapped down to the dyno for the before run, then cleaned on the dyno and then had the after run. This meant no variance due to changing the strap tension or anything like that. Room was temperature controlled also.

    First run:
    IMAG0388_zpskpinjgni.jpg
Apparently these cars never hit the figures they say they can! Excuse the picture but my phone didn't like capturing the screen as per usual.

After the run we did the clean:
    IMAG0389_zpsfmbm3tlf.jpg
As can be seen in the image, the car did not move off the dyno smile.gif

and here we are with the final figures:
    IMAG0392_zpsyuf0xpp0.jpg

    +21bhp
    +20ft-lb across the range
Engine is significantly quieter as other mentioned but still sounds epic under load
The pull is alot smoother across the whole range whereas before it pulled noticeably harder after 3k revs

I am very happy with the overall results, my aim was to prove it worked so that I could turn it into a yearly maintenance cost rather than £700 or so to have the head stripped off every 40k miles.

Hopefully this will entice the others on here also that were unsure beforehand as the dyno proves without a doubt that the cleaning makes a big difference!

  8. Hope this is in the right place, not sure where else to put it!

So the other day I had tried an Engine carbon Clean from a mobile rep from this company: https://www.facebook.com/F5ECC/timeline

on my Mk2 07 Octavia Vrs PD.

Its covered 120k+ miles and as all the early BMN engine, DPF cars did, suffers from various carbon build up problems, mainly EGR valve, Anti shudder valve, intake manifold flaps etc.

I'd seen reviews for this on the internet and decided to give it a try.

It was simple to get started as the guy just puts a pipe into the intake pipe, just after the airflow meter and starts to put the hydrogen mix through. I'm not sure how it gets rid of the carbon, whether it's a reaction or it burns it through, but after not too long all the crap from the engine was coming out of the exhaust.

About 40 mins later it was finished. On tickover alone I could hear the difference between before and after and after a quick blast to "fully clear it out" I came back most impressed.

Immediately after I had a 170 mile journey to make and got a little time to run it through its paces.

Tickover is quieter and smoother. less blips etc.

Takeoff Is easier as is the way it revs and pulls through the gears.

There is definitely more power than it had before - not an increase like a remap, but after 120k miles I know it'd lost some

DPF is regening less often. not sure if this is down to the DPF itself being cleaner or the engine EGR etc letting less rubbish through.

Engine noise when driving seems quieter, especially the turbo whine. I know the turbo vanes on these engine can seize up so maybe it's free'd these off too??

Mpg is better. I've done 350 miles so far and my average is showing 5mpg better. My daily commute is 4mpg up with a massive headwind today.

Anyway, the net result is it feels great. It reminds me why we bought it in the first place.

    Well worth the money IMHO

If only I'd done this 2 months ago, i might not have ordered the mk3!! lol

  9. Well we got to 10 so got the 30% off.

Big thanks to the 2 members who came along with the octavia Vrs' that got us there. Gutted for the one that had a new version of the ECU, hope they can sort it another time for you, And jealous for the power hike on yours Flyboy019 :)

The Engine carbon cleaning was fantastic on my MK2 Vrs diesel, i'll put a review up for that in the general car chat section.

  10. I ordered my MY16 Vrs, again specced with the Sat Nav as standard. When It arrived without, basically I said fix it or order me another.

As stated by some of the posts above, if it's not there then it's not the car you ordered.

    Trading standards says :

The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations have replaced most of the Trade Descriptions Act. These rules make it an offence to mislead consumers about goods and services. Misleading practices could include:

    • untruthful advertising
    • leaving out important information
    • deceptive after-sales information

An advert is misleading if it deceives or is likely to deceive its audience and affect their decision on whether or not to buy. This also applies if it unfairly harms - or is likely to harm - a competitor of the organisation placing the advertisement.

In my mind, saying you have this extra, worth circa £800 fitted standard then that is a reason to sway your decision. So if its not there and you have it in writing then thats a breach of contract, surely.

In any effect, my dealer ordered what they called an upgrade kit to enable the sat nav which (I'm told) contains the new media unit, modules and wiring.

However it didn't fit as there is some differences behind the glove compartment some the modules don't fit where kenwood have told them it should.

So the saga continues. They are going to try to extend the wires and re-locate the modules next, hopefully when they have it all installed, it will actually work........

No other interest from Skoda Drivers?

  14. Re post #14,  it was Supercharged.

(say Supercharged quick and nobody will notice.)

I did say 600bhp. pretty certain they've done a few upgrades/mods to get to that point  :notme:

My point was though, Revo where working with Skoda UK and will have done extensive testing from standard equipment all the way to the spec that did the trial.

And I don't believe it for a minute that would equate to a 1/4 mile time of mid 11's and I just don't buy that for a fwd car with low 300's hp that's way faster than a golf r for example

That was listed as a 0-100 time not the 1/4 mile, but they're not my figures, just quoted from their site.

As for the R, apart from the 4WD (a big advantage obviously), the octavia would have a higher bhp and lower weight so better power to weight ratio, plus an extra 70mn torque.

Never fear though, for the R guys, they can also chip it and add their own 70bhp and get their 0-60 times down to 3.7 seconds.

Theres some massive gains in these next gen VAG engines!

  15. Maybe that's an optimistic statement lol ;)

That said 11.2 sec 0-100 is pretty damn fast! And I love it when some of them (usually BM drivers) floor it and when they look over, your still there your trusty skoda laughin at them

Maybe not cutting edge anymore but some older stuff getting there in similar times:

    DB9 V12 - 2003> 10.7 secs

    SLK55 AMG - 2004> 11 secs

    Cayman S 3.4 2009> 11.1 secs

    Bentley continental 6.0 W12 - 2003 - 11.2 secs

    Jaguar XK 5.0 V8 2009 - 11.2 secs

    Lotus Carlton - 11.5 secs

Loads more of my old idol cars falling around those times too!

  16. The torque raises to around 450nm with the Revo map too but shouldn't need Shouldn't need anything doing to the box to handle it although i don't know if they are the same as those in more powerful models.

Although new maps are available for some DSG models, that's mostly all about getting more for the box itself such as faster changing, holding gears longer, launch control etc.

I do know Revo (as with some other companies) don't just increase the power because they can. All cars are tested extensively - e.g. I know they did 40k miles in the Audi S5 - over longer periods of time.

    quote from there web site:

Stage 1 software details for your SKODA, Octavia MK3, 2.0 TSI (220ps)

With an impressive 217bhp as standard (or 227bhp with optional extra performance package) matched with a fantastic chassis, this isn’t a slow car but even our initial feasibility studies showed huge room for improvement. Our R&D involved months of extensive beta testing on cars all over the globe; in Russia, South Africa, Germany, Asia, the USA and the UK ensuring our testing covered an array of atmospheric variations.

Our Stage 1 software upgrade is flashed through the ODB-II port leaving the factory ECU intact and providing peak gains well in excess of 300BHP. Whilst the peak gains are impressive, this doesn’t tell the full story; our software has been refined to give you increased torque and power throughout the rev range without compromising on driveability, smoothness or power delivery. What does this mean in the real world? Well, our own development vehicles see the 0-100mph sprint in 11.2 seconds (on road tyres with regular pump fuel). To put that into perspective the older generation of 2.0TSI in the MK2 chassis needed a turbo upgrade and Stage3 software to get to that level of performance. Your hot hatch has just become a supercar slayer with factory like smoothness and driveability.
