  1. I've always had mine in "List" mode - didn't know there was a Grid option. Just been out to my car (November 2017) and the icons are in colour. So looks like there has definitely been a change and the early FL cars have had "stock items" fitted and the later ones have had the newer kit. I don't think you'll ever see an update through official channels, seems very rare that people say they went to Skoda and they performed an update on Infotainment equipment.
  2. If this is a Columbus, download the maps again - copy to the root of an SD Card, insert, Infotainment>Update This will reinstall the maps on the Hard Drive in the unit - won't take more than about 15-20 minutes. If the Nav has been working, its possible that the map data has become corrupt. Certainly the quickest and easiest thing to try.
  3. Hi All, I have a brother in law who works in the Czech Republic as a translator. Yes, he does do work for Skoda and a lot of the UK brochures you see were translated by him. He's currently working on some documentation and has asked me about the more common phrases used in the UK. Full Beam / Dipped Beam or High Beam / Low Beam What do you guys tend to use? High/Low feels more American to me and I tend to use Full and Dipped. I just know Bastarised English (American) does tend to creep into our language and wondered what people tend to say. Cheers all.
  4. Oh - not so much the speed they arrive - rather if they don't work there is all the fun of returning items. However if I buy from Halfords or Ebay I've got a quick and easy return system. It was more the coding - I have VCDS, but if coding was required I was looking for what and where. I have VCDS for convenience, I'm by far no expert on said software.
  5. Yes, I did have a read through the couple of other threads - although they all end with ordering stuff from AliExpress - I'm not completely adverse to doing this, but do like quicker and UK based solutions where possible. Replacing Reversing lights with LED. Just wanted to confirm a 380/P21/5w LED would be the correct replacement? Also, as these are external lights - any coding required to make sure I don't get any bulb out warnings? Ta
  6. Manufacturers really are protecting you from yourself. Firmware upgrades can and do go wrong and you're left with a brick. Map update goes wrong, usually a re-download of the update and off you go. There are awkward conversations with you and the dealer when you take a bricked unit in under warranty - because suddenly it isn't under warranty because you've attempted to apply software updates. There are £1k+ expenses if you then need to replace your bricked unit.
  7. OK, but doesn't change the legal aspect or how bloody stupid it is to have moving images in a position where the driver can see them and be distracted.
  8. The aforementioned RPS on Facebook are a fair bet. I paid £33.89 inc VAT and delivery in March last year. Arrived as part plus clips, so just a 2 minute job to slot each clip into the correct socket - job done.
  9. Well it's not pointless HBA being able to see around corners, it's just impossible - however the human eyes can quite clearly see when a car is approaching around a bend and we can stop the dazzle. So yer, very important that I manually switch off high-beam before a car arrives if I possibly can. As for motorway driving - hell yes oncoming cars with full-beam still dazzle. It's all quite straight forward - high-beam should not be used when you can see white oncoming lights or red rear lights in front of you. HBA takes those rules to the absolute edge and in far too many cases, too far! I have mine enabled and it has done what it is supposed to do, but certainly not always.
  10. I find it very hit & miss and as someone else above said - I use it as an assist, I have to be ready to manually jump in. Also HBA cannot see around corners, I can see lights approach and be pre-emptive. A lot of the people who love it have also been able to adjust sensitivity of the system - my car as per sig does not have those settings available and I cannot up the sensitivity. I think if I could set mine to most sensitive I might have better luck - but unless someone has found similar settings for newer vehicles, you just have to be always ready to jump in.
  11. 99% sure all vRS' are Chains (have been since the Facelift Mk2) and have no service schedule (except for inspection).
  12. When you "Unzip" the file that you download, you should end up with two folders and a file: Mib1 (folder) - 775 files, 320 folders, 23.8GB Mib2 (folder) - 796 files, 510 folders, 4.33GB metainfo2 (file) - 904 bytes Copy all of this into the root (so not inside any additional folders) of the SD card formatted as FAT32. Insert into either SD Card Slot. Navigation>Version Information>Update from the Infotainment unit.
  13. As a sanity check - could you just take a picture of your SatNav? Make sure there are no mistakes on which model etc. If it's a Columbus any SD Card will do the job, so long as it has been formatted to FAT32 - which is just a matter of getting it connected to a PC, right-click>Format and making sure FAT32 is selected. Are you able to put music on this very same card and can the SatNav see it?
  14. LOL - mine was parked in that exact same spot on 17th November 2018
  15. Just so I'm reading this thread correctly - the basic ask is that information is given on how to replace the front fog lights with: A. Lights that are now illegal B. Lights that are now useless in fog (and if the reason is they are too bright - may actually be a hindrance) C : Look "cool" However, the only time they are ever used is in fog, where they are now useless. It'll be far too foggy to actually "Look cool" and oncoming traffic will be far too busy concentrating on a road to note anything special about the lights? Just wanted to make sure it wasn't April 1st or something.
  16. One of my local dealers still offering fixed price - major at £289 https://vindisgroup.com/service/skoda/fixed-price-servicing I personally use Wings at Peterborough - my costs in the 4th post down, but they don't list pricing on their website. I just used the old fashioned phone and arranged it that way. My mother in law is in Ipswich - her local dealer still showing fixed price servicing: https://www.marriottmotorgroup.co.uk/skoda/aftersales/
  17. Most dealerships seem to have their own pricing schemes and decision making on what parts will be replaced. I took my 2yr old car in for a service in December - I wanted it moving from standard to variable and thus wanted effectively a long-life service completed. They completed the full 20k service, with long-life oil etc. All filters (including air) and plugs were changed, along with the pollen filter - £245. Gets me an official Skoda "stamp" in the log - something I always aim to get until the vehicle hits 5yrs old and the end of any goodwill should anything happen. Obviously in 18+ months time when I'm due a next service, if the difference is £200+ to go independent, then I'll need to look into options.
  18. I just have a small folder which I keep at home and anything related to my car goes in there. At eventual time that my car goes to a new home, the new owner will just have that folder to browse through. I've done this ever since I bought my first ever car - I bought a 1980 Mk1 VW Golf - previous owner had been a little old lady from Scotland and she had kept every single receipt and document related to the car in such a folder which was passed to me. Just seemed such a sensible way of being able to pass on the car and the cars history.
  19. Such a minor one I nearly didn't bother with the post - but then I thought if anyone has an answer it will be the people here! Columbus in my Mk3.5 When playing my music library from SD Card I get the album art up, album name and track name. If a track name is too long for the display I'll get something like: The name of this tr....... I don't suppose there is a hidden setting that would allow that field to scroll so the whole title is revealed?
  20. I just checked the app again this morning and my service from Mid November has now appeared. When I collected my car after the service I was given a print-out of my digital service book and that showed the service they had just completed. So it has taken around 3 weeks from that being completed to it being available to me in the MySkoda App. Not a big issue - would have been if it had failed to appear.
  21. Who did you speak to regarding this? My service from beginning of November still isn't appearing.
  22. I still need to get one of mine done - I keep a look out for a replacement wheel instead, but of course people are rarely selling just a single wheel and even less likely to be selling an undamaged, single wheel. Will have to bite the bullet at some point.
  23. Just this second logged into the MySkoda app - launches fine. However, it doesn't yet contain my service from 12th November. When I collected my car post service the dealer gave me a print out of my digital service book and it of course included that service. So the APp doesn't appear to be up to date for me.
