  1. 2WD with winter tyres is certainly better than 4WD with summers. I was always short of grip whilst playing Colin Mcrae's Rally on the Playstation. I didn't have much luck either, trying to install the Colin Mcrae Helicopter Simulator on my PC. Damn thing kept crashing :(
  2. Maybe the next video will feature mixer taps
  3. I just picked up two of these from the local Skoda dealer. 25€ each. I had checked SuperSkoda, who price them at 55€ each. Shocking really.... that's not a small difference, and Finland isn't exactly a cheap country, certainly not as cheap as the Czech Rep. I have bought stuff from SuperSkoda before, but after seeing the price difference, I will now be shopping around before buying from them again.
  4. My only question is....what was that shower cubicle on the left at around 8.54:30 ???
  5. Do you have any more details on the TPI? Reference number? Or the Part Number for the new pump design?
  6. So someone has told me (no idea if this is true), that OBD II only picks up a realtively small number of codes. This means that many codes just won't show up. Can anyone comment on whether this is true?
  7. I'm pretty sure they just changed the pump. At least they said they have the pump in stock so they can do the work. Anyway, the drive is back on all 4 wheels and with all the snow we have at the moment, it is very welcome.
  8. Can you link an independent and credible source that confirms that? We choose the lowest ethanol % for use in all our engines: cars, chainsaws, bushwhackers, snowblowers, lawn mowers, etc. We made that decision on the back of third hand recommendations about avoiding moisture in fuel and ensuring seal longevity. But new information is always welcome!
  9. I haven't had any noise but my Haldex 5 isn't working. A code showed up in the last service (failing clutch pump) and it will be changed next week. They can't explain why the code wasn't mentioned at the previous service (when the car was still in warranty), and they will therefore do the pump change at their cost. PS We were in Tromsö a few years ago, we arrived on the first day of summer and loved your town, especially the cable car up the mountain! It was all very Where Eagles Dare
  10. 6 speed wet clutch DSG here. No problems in 3 years of ownership. Would never go back to manual now.
  11. A good thought. But I have a snapshot of the codes and the mileage is included - it matches my vehicle's mileage.
  12. The codes were showing during last week's service scan as: P034100 Camshaft position sensor. November 2017 C111204 Haldex clutch pump. October 2016 I've scanned with OBD 11 repeatedly since I got the scanner in June 2017 and haven't seen either code ever. That's what confuses me ... How can they be visible during a service scan, when I haven't ever seen them myself.
  13. Thanks SWBoy. So those codes can "clear themselves" from being either current or history?
  14. So at the last service there were two codes showing in the history: P034100 Camshaft position sensor. C111204 Haldex clutch pump. But neither of these codes show as either current or history when I connect my own OBD 11 (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00VUW2PB4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Does anyone know why that would be?
  15. Some people top up their washer bottle with neat screenwash, but forget they still have "summer strength" liquid in the water lines. That can freeze up. I've never needed to use screenwash at -7°C. If the screen is dirty before leaving home, I throw a bit of snow on it and then once it thaws, I use the wipers. We use Lasol : https://www.lasol.fi/tuote/lasol-100/
  16. Just had a service. They said the "Workshop" pop-up was due to two service codes: P034100 Camshaft position sensor. C111204 Haldex clutch pump. The codes were in the log but not "current", so they think it could be faulty sensors.
  17. Anyone know if it is possible to tell which bulbs are installed from the "options code". We know the car has the option "PK7 lights with LED driving lights". But the question is whether "PK7" comes with H7 or H4.
  18. I don't wish to start a patronising lecture on how corporate business works, but in short, just because there is demand for something, does not necessarily mean it is the right decision for the business as a whole. I don't doubt that a large company like Skoda has an active "voice of the customer" -type programme. Therefore they should have a very good idea about the level of demand for petrol options. But that doesn't mean that the corporate business managers have decided that it is the best way of making money for shareholders. If there is a way to make money, and the decision timing allows the decision to be made, it will generally happen. Yes, I know, I should have left this thread.
  19. You may be correct and maybe you should offer your services to Skoda UK? I don't want to risk coming over as a know-it-all. Nobody likes those. But I make these sorts of vehicle placement decisions for a living. There are a myriad of factors involved in cases like these, most of which the average customer wouldn't ever know about, many wouldn't even understand. Skoda's business decisions are closely monitored by those that invest in that company. If there was even an inkling that Skoda UK's management was missing out on an opportunity to deliver shareholder value, they would be replaced. That's just how it works. It's hard nose with capitals H & N. If you think you know better, then that's fine. I'll leave this thread for now.
  20. Which does not come at zero cost in supporting infrastructure and other things that need doing to bring a model to a particular market; nor does the action guarantee incremental revenue for Skoda.
  21. Or possibly they are aware of their customers desires, but in the bigger picture the company will make more money by ignoring some of those desires. - If the investment in the infrastruture required to support a particular model variant in a particalr market is larger than the return from incremental sales, they won't do it. - If the resources required to deliver a particular variant to a particular market could be better utilised to deliver a better financial gain elsewhere, they won't do it.
