  1. brad1.8T's post in VW 507 00 Oil question was marked as the answer
    The only viscosity I've ever seen in 507.00 is 5w-30 but maybe it's different where you live.

    VW spec is more important than viscosity.

    Yes, you can mix engine oils.

    Yes you can top up with castrol or Mobil  or whatever you please - as long as it meets the VW spec for your engine.  You can even mix 506.01 with 507.00.

    Don't overthink it.

    TSI doesn't suffer from cam wear issues
  3. brad1.8T's post in Service help, please was marked as the answer
    45k is a "minor service" same as 15k -  Basically oil & filter, check other fluids, visual check of major systems.  Should be around $300 - $350

    I'm slightly confused - you've done 45k in 8 months?
  4. brad1.8T's post in very confused was marked as the answer
    Easiest way to tell the difference.

    TFSI has a cartridge type oil filter that is located at the front of the engine, approximately in the middle pointing downwards.

    TSI has a spin-on oil filter located at the front left of the engine, pointing downwards.

    My theory is that if you can't identify the oil filter then you probably should stop at that point & leave it to somebody else.

    yes, should start cooling near enough straight away
  6. brad1.8T's post in Bosch or Lucas Rear Pads? was marked as the answer
    I believe the OP is talking about the caliper manufacturer, not the brand of pad available for purchase.

    To the OP:  What PR # are your rear brakes?

    1KF is Lucas/TRW.  They are smooth on top & taper in at the back.  The slot on the top is about 20-25mm wide & parallel the full length
    1KD is Lucas/TRW but it has 4 fins on top & is square

    The Bosch is smaller than the Lucas stuff (like a MK6 Golf).  The slot on the top is two opposing curves, almost like a circle.

    This might help

  7. brad1.8T's post in Anti-roll bar bushes? was marked as the answer
    that sounds far too sensible Laureen  :p

    Have a look at your PR codes inside the service record book or on the build sticker in the boot

    Rear Suspension - http://www.partsbase.org/skoda/octavia-oct-eu-2006-1z-6-000-001-50120-track-rod-coupling-rod-anti-roll-bar/
    0BC = 18.5mm
    0BD = 19.6mm
    0BE = 20.7mm
    0BF = 21.7mm

    Front Suspension - http://www.partsbase.org/skoda/octavia-oct-eu-2006-1z-6-000-001-41101-suspension-shock-absorbers-anti-roll-bar/
    0AC = 21.7mm
    0AD = 22.5mm
    0AE = 23.6mm

    that was all at partsbase.org.  You should have had a look.  There are diagrams that are easy to follow
  8. brad1.8T's post in tyre pressure was marked as the answer
    I think the handbook says look behind the filler flap.  It's the standard spot for VW group vehicles.
