Bosch or Lucas Rear Pads?

Featured Replies

Is there an easy way to tell which pads will be fitted to my car without stripping them down first and taking a photo?

Eurocarparts list 2 sets - Bosch and Lucas when I enter my Reg number.

Had a look at the Brake Fluid reservoir but cant see any indication on there.

Thanks

Ask Skoda quote the model and year of car? they may ask for VIN to verify..

Whatever pads you use will seem to last forever, as rear discs go so rusty, as most of braking takes place at the front

I think I read that Lucas brakes (for cars) are a defunct brand that has been bought by ECP. Those pads will possibly be made in China or India

Buy your brake pads from GSF (Briskoda sponsor - quote code for discount) IMO more likely to get quality pads there.

I believe the OP is talking about the caliper manufacturer, not the brand of pad available for purchase.

To the OP:  What PR # are your rear brakes?

1KF is Lucas/TRW.  They are smooth on top & taper in at the back.  The slot on the top is about 20-25mm wide & parallel the full length

1KD is Lucas/TRW but it has 4 fins on top & is square

The Bosch is smaller than the Lucas stuff (like a MK6 Golf).  The slot on the top is two opposing curves, almost like a circle.

This might help

Thanks Brad, yes as instructed on that page its best to take the wheel off and have a good look. Think I'll take a pad out and take a photo of it.

Having the need to answer this question for an imminent service, I found it very easy to identify my Superb rear pads as Lucas not Bosch by simply looking at the pads through the wheel. A torch helped. The notches in the Lucas pads are very obvious.
