  1. I've got the auto retract parcel shelf, and to be honest it isn't worth the money. When you release the tailgate the shelf (blind) retracts to the halfway point, and that's it. You have to either open it all the way or pull it back to the 'shut' position by hand, so all you get is the noise of the blind flying forward at quite an alarming speed to the half way position and that's it! It's a bit like the powered boot only opening using the key fob, but not being able to close it with the fob, half a job! I have disabled the auto retract on the maxidot, and there it will stay.

  2. For what it's worth I fitted 16" Vredestein Wintrac Extreme tyres last winter, supplied by Tyremen in Hull, bought a set of 16" standard rims from my dealer, they fitted the tyres & changed them over for me. Did it the week before the snow came so it was well worth it. I drove on them all through the snow and had no problems at all, brilliant tyres. My insurance company is Aviva and there was not problem with them. Will put them back on this weekend as it looks like things are turning colder now. I just want to get a decent set of wheel trims, so it doesn't look like a 'Q' car ha ha!

  3. Looking at my car yesterday, I noticed that the Thermisto alloys on my 2008 Superb are completely ruined.

I had the same problem, the winter plays havoc with the Thermistos, so I ran steel rims with winter tyres last winter and the alloys refurbished by www.wheelgenie.co.uk in Huntingdon, did a good job, give him a call

  4. I had the same thing last week, flashing coil, then engine management light. Car drove ok in lower gears but was a bit flat in higher gears. Booked it into my dealer (Progress in Letchworth - good crowd!) who suspected DPF sensor, but it was actually the turbo dump valve. I'd get that checked out if you haven't got it sorted yet.

  5. I read in the Samsung Galaxy S spec in the bluetooth capability that it has sap, which I guess mwans Samsung may have added their own version? My Omnia has this and connects Ok with the Columbus, been using it since December '08, Superb is '58 model Elegance. Can anyone confirm if this is right? I did see in the compatability list that the Galaxy works in a 2010 model, but is that the one with the different blutooth module?

  7. It's a known fault. I had it on my Supreb 2 quite soon after taking delivery at the end of October 2008. As the model was very new then it took my dealer, Progress in Letchworth, a couple of attempts, but they got there in the end! Good service from Progress by the way. It's the ignition switch. Get it replaced and away you go.

  8. Well I've seen it all now! Wending my way to work this morning south along the A1, at Buckden I noticed an unmarked police car parked on the roundabout heading north with blue lights flahing in the grill, that's a familiar looking front end I thought , and as I was in the queue approaching the roundabout he pulled away north. It was a Superb II in what looked like steel grey metallic, reg no. BX59MVH (moderators am I allowed to do that?) crewed by what I presume is one of Cambridgeshires finest - flack jacket, radio and all! Are old bill trading up from Volvos & Beemers I wonder. Altough I have seen an unmarked Octy estate down the A14 occasionally. Given the relative scarcity of Superbs it ain't exactly gonna blend in and be anonymous is it?

  9. Hi, I have an Octy in this colour combination, they go very well together. Storm blue is a fantastic colour with a lot of depth and fleck in it.

I have this combination had my Superb 2 for 14 months now. Storm Blue is a good colour, the metallic effect looks good and sets off the ivory interior. I did consider Rosso Brunello but when i viewed a demo on a rainy day the effect was too dull brown for my liking. You won't regret Storm blue!

  10. The seats have been playing up as well , especially the passenger seat reclines itself when the vehicle is parked up , i am not always aware the seats have moved straight away and i do wonder if the moving seats are tripping the alarm

    Richf

Interesting point about the seat reclining, I thought I had a problem, but found that when my wife was getting out of the passenger seat, as she has arthritis, she has to swing her legs to touch the ground, the lift herslf clear of the seat. In doing this her leg presses on the side on the seat where the recline button is, therefore the seat is reclining as she is trying to get out! Don't know if this is any help?

  11. My fronts needed replacing after 16,500 miles (I've posted before about wear problem on fronts)and I replaced with Conti 3's, but my driving is mainly motorway. However my previous car was an Audi A6 with Michelins and they were really good on wear and mileage, 30K on fronts & 54K on rears, next time I will replace with Michelins and hopefully get the required result.I've now got 24K on the clock, so am anticipating replacing all 4 at 33-34K.

  12. mine was delivered without umbrella, so I called my dealer (Progress Skoda in Letchworth) and asked the salesman what was the one thng that no other car came with as standard? He arrived the next day with said umbrella and an apology - fair do's he took the one out of the demo car!!

  13. I had the same, had to replace the fronts at 16,500 as they were down to the tread wear indicators and the guy at the tyre company showed me the wear on the inside edges. Coincidentally the car was going into the dealer the next day so I've got them to check with Skoda about this. Will post the reply when I get it.

  14. Sorry to see the damage to your car Drummond. I had a similar experiece exactly one week to the day after collecting my Supreb 2, same colour as yours! I was at the front of a 4 car shunt so came off with the lightest damage, just a small dent in the rear bumper and a piece of paintwork the size of a 5p piece missing. My insurers are Norwich Union, and they have their own body shop close to my office, the car created a lot of interest when I took it in, as they hadn't seen one before (can I claim to be the first to be clonked ?). They had to fit a complete new bumper and the work came with a 3 yaer guarantee. When I got it back you couldn't tell it from a new one, perfect match. I'm now recovering the excess through DAS, as I have that cover in place.

I hope you get it sorted OK.

By the way I've now got 7500+ miles on it and I am very, very happy with it.

  15. Well I bought the 170CR manual for 2 reasons, 1 co. car tax an secondly, just as important I've always driven manuals an Mrs. C don't like autos, so not a lot of point if I want driving home from the pub!!

Seriously driving 30-35K a year diesel had to be the way to go. Its, quite, and i get about 46 to the gallon, mainly dual carriage way, motorway driving. As to comparing it to the A the engine is definately more refined than the 140PD. The level of equipment to price paid you're quids in, and it is a very comfortable, relaxed drive. Columbus works well, in particular when you get on a main road and have to travel some distance she says 'stay on this road for a very long time' cute eh! My passengers really appreciate the room in the back and my wife loves the heated seats that heat the squab and the back, great for her arthritis!!

Jonathan I am sure you will love it when yours arrives.

  16. Congrats Mountainman, good colour choice, same as mine! I've been driving it now for nearly six weeks and it's brilliant, I replaced an 05 Audi A6 2.0 tdi in Aero Blue, and was debating steel grey, but hey what the heck a change is as good as etc. One thing I am going to sort out though is a set of mudflaps, due to the 18" wheels and the body wrap under if you drive counrty lanes the crap is everywhere, so off to Skoda for some!!

  17. Mine also has black carpets, I bought one from available stock (what Skoda refer to as a mandatory car) and I assume the black carpets make more sense. My dealer checked for me and found this info. After reading various posts here I decided to check. Worth doing! as it will be an absolute pig to try & keep Ivory one's clean!!
