Assuming they are LHD over in Poland? thanks anyway

So is it just me or is the driver seat position in Felicia's a little lopsided?
Every felly ive driven leaves me thinking my left arm is slightly longer than my right
-

lol save them for me if you like, ill be heading towards malvern hills at some point during this nice weather
found the other key, one with mini torch built into it, original battery, still works

Binzie my mother has a cat. But ive already given them a home against my wishes, im not feeding the bloody things too!
I said no fire! lol It may only be a felicia but it is/was mint, only 18k on the clock. :(
Dakks I will look into that, but sounds pricey, and surely those temps cant be too good for the car either?
They are rebuilding as we speak :(

Got quite a suprise this morning when I opened the car door, it has turned into one big spider nest overnight. Webs upon webs criss crossing all over front to back with hundreds of little yellow and black spiders running around / huddled together in every crack/corner. Steering wheel was practically encased in web!
My phones bluetooth seems to be broken so cannot upload pics but have identified them as 'Araneus diadematus' 'European Garden Spider'
These are the babies (pic from google)
Needed to use the car so cleaned it out best I could, must have removed hundreds of the buggers along with all the webs although it doesnt seem to have even put a dent in their numbers and an hour later it was covered again.
Just before dinner I let off a bug bomb in there which seems to have thinned their numbers, but they are still crawling out of every crack. They seem to be concentrated around the driver side of the dashboard.. knew I should have evicted that big hairy chap from my wing mirror :(
Anyone had this before? Any idea's how to get rid of them short of torching the car?

My crib sheet is getting longer .... do you have a spare jack and tools?? I am stupid, I checked the jack was there, but the wrench and bar for it are not.
The water temp sensor is ( I suspect) perfect; the problem is the plug on the wiring loom, the contacts are badly corroded and one seems a little short. Are you keeping the loom, or could you just cut off the plug for me??
The guy who last did a service on this car was a gorilla - possibly one who spends most of his time masturbating!! The sump plug and oil filter were on so tight the CAR was moving; I had to come home and dig out an extension bar for the sump plug, and hammer my longest screwdriver through the oil filter; it had to turn about 90 degrees before it was loose enough to turn by hand!!!!
Because of all this, we never got as far as the brakes, or hand brake - they will have to wait until the 6th or 7th of July. (Rain, & Son's Girlfriend stopped play).
There are some small signs of water in the oil filler cap that I didnt notice when I originally looked at the car - I am hoping this is just from it being left standing all winter, rather than a sign the head gasket is going - the water tank was so over-filled it started venting - if the gasket had gone it would go into the engine instead.... correct???
I havent seen the fan switch on yet, despite it getting hot enough to vent, so I need to look at that next, however when the temp sender WAS working, it only just reached mid gauge, so it may just not have been hot enough.
This car may be for SWMBO to learn in, but it is MY TOY!!!!
Didnt get much done myself today, Smurf (my good felly) turned into a spider nest overnight, webs from windscreen to rear seat and hundreds of the little yellow buggers crawling out of every crack..
I can give you a jack and iron, they arent from a Felly and a bit rusty but it'll do the job.
No problem chopping the connector off for you, or the whole loom if its not too much faff?
I wouldnt be concerned about a bit of moisture/mayo in the oil cap, seems to happen to every felly ive ever known. Mine does it with 18k on the clock.
It also used to vent steam regularly when warming up, turned out to be dodgy cap on the expansion tank. dont have one spare unfortunately.
Does yours have a strut brace?
-
whole car is pretty much rust free other than where paint has been scraped, think the door is fine although i gutted it today
-
Spent most of the day pushing it backwards/forwards in and out of garage, bloody weather..
GentleGiant, Got the door locks, boot lock and the 2 keys ready, not been able to get ignition off yet, lack of tools. the petrol cap lock is broken :(
-
Mine were too but while I had the door trims off when I had a dodgy connection I took the opportunity to grease the runners. Made a world of difference, they're now faster, smoother and quieter. I don't think the door trims had been off in the fifteen year life of the car as the plastic behind looked like it had never been touched.
Cheers for the tip, ill give it a go.
Superduper - Do you like Chinese Beer?? I'll buy you a few bottles of Tsingtao or Pearl River while we are at WingYip.
Never tried it, but I do love beer!
-
Where roughly are you in Brum?? I have to do a run up to the computer fair at the Motorcycle museum soon, and I promised SWMBO a visit to Ikea and to WingYip.
Bromford/Castle Bromwich, 2 mins from M6 J5. 10 mins from Wing Yip. Ill rip them out in the morning if weather allows
I'm sure I may have staggered past one of your cars one early morning
Sorry to hear about the Felly, does it have leccy windows?
nope sorry. the one you saw a few weeks ago does :p
keep thinking about getting rid tho, or swapping motors for something more powerful as they close painfully slow so you never know..
-
On the one hand I am sorry to hear of a felly biting the dust; on the other, can I have the locks and keys please?? :-D You may have read my post about not having a key for the hatch lock on SWMBO's learner car.
sure thing, ill rip them out in the next couple of days and pm you.

Sad day for me, decided to break one of my twin fellys.
I will be holding on to some parts for spares but would be good if her demise could keep a few of her sisters on the road a little longer..
Wont charge anything for most parts other than costs to deliver, but wont say no to a few beer tokens either
She was still running well when SORN'd last year although clutch was on last leg, a lot of the bodywork is quite battered too.
RIP Blue Tac

About 3 years ago my first Felicia developed a fault where headlights/wipers/heater etc started flickering on/off before stopping working all together.
Turned out to be a loose connection on the starter motor. Wedged it in place with a Bic pen lid. Its still there.

this pic been posted on my facebook feed 4 times in the last hour, still makes me laugh.

The car will fail if a headlamp levelling or cleaning device is inoperative or otherwise obviously defective.
What does this mean for Felicias? Both of mine and every other felly ive seen, the dial to adjust headlight level do not work..
-
The easy way would indeed be to change whole wishbone. Would most likely have to come off anyway as the rivets can be a right bugger to remove.
Saves a huge amount of faff for the sake of an extra tenner or so.

spent a good couple of hours with heaters on full to dry out the carpets, only to find massive puddles under them..

I think it's a good idea, they already drive quads and mopeds and this will be a safer alternative than either for both the 16 year old driver and other road users plus it'll equip them better to pass their propper drivers licence.
Knowing how the vast majority of youths drive quads/mopeds regardless of the dangers, I dread to think what it'll be like when they are belted into a comfy seat with a metal shell protecting them.
Got overtaken by a moped with L plates while doing 40 this evening, not exactly a rare occurance round here either. wonder how many would stay limited to 28mph.

again sounds like immobiliser issue. from past experience. first thing to try is the spare key.
The immo cuts the fuel pump after a few seconds.
also your car does not have a carb.

Anyone remember the phrase 'I took him like a King'?
Ahh, memories of Mil and his mighty Mustang slaying Fabia.
I also hear that a Fabia can beat an M3......

pfft. my felicia does 300 miles an hour in first gear. drove it to the moon yesterday!

Parents Octy had every common fault they have including a strange one where when it had warmed up it would cut out completely if you stuck it into reverse.
my first felicia does that from time to time, pretty sure its down to water getting in the reverse lights. sometimes could reverse off downhill driveway onto the road before it cut out which made me think water sloshing around.. dont remember it happening since its been garaged either.
Are French cars still unreliable?

My nan bought herself a nice little 12 plate C1 brand new, which due to age related health/sight issues she never really got to drive. It was given to my sister.
Most unreliable and dangerous car ive ever come across.
Was constantly back with Citroen for all sorts of electrical and mechanical faults, bolts and bits falling out from behind the dash etc..
After 3-4000 miles the brakes started to fail, again forwards and backwards to Citroen who tried claiming it was normal and never managed to fully fix it.
After a few months fearing for her life she traded it for a 13 plate Seat Ibiza.
Only problem since was a puncture.
edit to add: washed it once or twice for her, had to be gentle as many of the body panels are rather er.. flexible
