  1. In response to Alkaz comment regarding A pillar creaks, I think my month old Monte Carlo has the same issue. Occasional creaking seems to be coming from A pillar/top of dash on passenger side. Did the dealer know it was an issue? Will report to my dealer but useful to know issue may affect other cars.
  2. I tow with a 150 diesel manual Estate (2017 SEL) towing a caravan max weight 1450kg and more than happy with it,. Easily cruise in 6th gear towing at 60-65, and typically manages 28-30 towing. It tows to France west coast each summer as well as many trips in UK. I am more than happy with its performance, and would replace with another 150 diesel next time.
  3. My lights had the software update in the summer but on a number of occasions over the last few weeks the lights have stayed very low, only lighting a bit of the road ahead. Switching off engine sorts it but shouldnt need to. Car is going in for service in a couple of weeks so will ask about it then. Seems to be worse when cold.
  4. Great video. I had a Superb demo as a courtesy car for few days with this towbar and was very impressed by it. Certainly considering specing it myself. The one thing I am trying to find out is the wiring to the 13 pin, which I can't find anywhere. Want to know if it provides feed to fridge in caravan? Any one help with that?
  5. I must also add that the day after update even my wife commented about the 'rattle' so it was noticeable to her as the passenger. The mechanic tells me that my update was 9979, which is higher than the so called software update- update fix to Tiguans with rattles. See Honest John website Tiguan reviews.
  6. 100% certain. I've had the car since new and know exactly all the noises it made up to the update at first service at 16,500 miles. There is now a definite diesel type clatter as described. Many tiguan owners have experienced similar noise. Refinement of engine has been destroyed. The update is not a 'patch' to remove defeat device but completely over rights ecu. So fuelling at low revs is changed causing this rattle it seems.
  7. My Superb 2.0 TDI cr is march 2015 and software update has created a rattle around 1500 - 2000 rpm, mostly on a light throttle. Well documented problem with tiguans but not, so far at least, with the Superb. Skoda have tested it for a week and tell me it's fine,which its not. It's ruined the car and the total lack of interest from Skoda makes me feel this might be my last Skoda, after 5. I personally wouldn't advise having it updated.
  8. I'm intrigued by wavey Davey's comments. I have a superb 2.0 TDI cr march 2015 which had its software update in July after my letter confirmed an update was ready. Since update, engine rattles like diesel clatter around 1500 revs. Problem seems well documented issue with tiguans. Dealer tested car for a week and Skoda said it was OK. But I know it's not. Skoda's handling of this is appalling. They destroy the refinement of my engine with the update but just don't seem interested. Some tiguan owners seem to have another update but Skoda hg technical team seem to have no clue about this. All incredibly frustrating.
  9. Following my software update back in july, my car has has just spent a week with the dealer upon Skoda's request after technical report was issued to them and they wanted to investigate further. The main issue since update is a noise similar to diesel clatter, mostly noticeable around 1500 rpm and on a light throttle. It never existed before software update. Honest john has reported that 8 owners of tiguans with same engine have very similar problems. Collected car last night and no change. Skoda is basically saying all is OK after multiple tests. Clearly I am not happy and would strongly advise anyone NOT to have the update. Now deciding how to escalate this as data might say it's OK, but I know it is now noiser and has ruined my ownership experience!
  10. Just quick update. Got car back yesterday but no improvement. Dealer advises upgrade can't be reversed. Software definitely loaded correctly but they will submit a technical report to Skoda HQ. Dealer's VW branch advised my skoda mechanic that several golf 2.0 cr TDI owners are reporting similar noise issues. It seems that vw and Skoda will need to take this seriously as upgrade has made engines noisier. The 'robust' nature of the common rail engine has been compromised by diesel rattle! Likely that another update will be needed once they have worked out what that needs to be. In hindsight I really wish I hadn't it done.......but my letter from Skoda assured me that I would notice no difference in noise levels.....but I have. I do really think that they will need to pay owners compensation if their cars are to be compromised in this way.
  11. My car had its first service on Monday at 16000 miles, and had its software upgrade at the same time. It's back at the dealer tonight as since Monday it has developed a noise on acceleration not unlike diesel clatter of old. I am not a happy owner. Dealer is to contact Skoda technicians tomorrow. I can only think the software upgrade has detrimentally affected the fuelling as Skoda's letter advises changes will enhance fuel injection pattern. I will update after tomorrow but I have asked whether it can be reversed.As far as I am concerned at present the so called upgrade has ruined my lovely car!
  12. I don't think anything is missing from antenna. That's how it was supplied from factory. My March 12 SE had a sharp fin, but father's Oct 2012 had just a black cover as you described. Radio was always fine.
  13. Just an update, dealer diagnosed faulty steering rack, fluid was leaking through seals in the rack. Without question, dealer said Skoda would contribute 50%, but still had as bill for £524. Ouch!!! Not what I would have expected on a low mileage 4 year old car! Car now repaired but thinking about taking matter up directly with Skoda to perhaps push for a bigger contribution. Do others think it would be worthwhile?
  14. Over the last few days noticed the steering becoming heavy and particularly 'draggy' when first turning the wheel. Almost feels as if the steering is struggling to react quick enough when turning wheel. Looking on forum doesn't seem to be a common problem on newer cars. Our mileage is only 23,000 miles. Concerned it could be a new electric pump but a faulty sensor seems to be a common quick fix as it sends info to the pump. Any help would be great. Planning to go to dealer who has looked after it since new, but would be usual to be armed with some knowledge! Thanks
