Weird trim noises all the time

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am new Fabia Premium 1.5 tsi owner. I bough my car 6 days ago. Two days after receiving my car, i started to encounter with this rattle noise in the video below. This rattle noise comes from the middle of the dashboard, behind the a/c control panel. That noise continued for two days time to time, then it is disappeared by itself. I didn't do anything but listened to it while driving.

Also today when i rev the engine between 2500-3000 rpms when it was cold, i heard another strange trim noise from glove compartment or hood area. I am not sure about the source of the noise. 5 kilometers later after reaching home, i tested again and trim noise went away by itself again😃

So my question is, did you new Fabia owners also encounter with such trim noises in your cars? I would to know if my car is abnormal or not?

By the way, i used to be 2021 Seat ibiza facelift owner before new Fabia. There were many trim noises in ibiza too, but those were not so persistant unlike my Fabia's trim noises.

Yep. Mine has a lot of trim noise too. Especially on hot days. The material that used in dash area is pretty hard. Especially shiny black surfaces making a lot of noise.

I was using 2021 mk3 before mk4. And it almost had zero trim noise. But I am trying to get used to it because it's a great car in every other aspects. I'll just report some constantly noisy areas to service to fix.

Do not delay reporting to a Main Dealership in the UK, or maybe anyplace else globally.

Be sure it is logged formally, and passed on to grown ups.

In the UK they will soon tell you about Warranty Exclusions and 6 months / 6,5000 miles for panel fit etc.

Tell the Dealers, they can tell Skoda UK and they can tell Skoda CZ, then nobody can say, 'Never heard of that',

and if they say, 'They all do that'.

you can say then fix your Snagging Faults now and get your act together in the factory.

i only hear this noise in idle mode sometimes. while driving the car, that noise disappears.

I had  the same noise in the first video at the begin, they initially said they fixed it drove out garage and it was still there. Went straight back in and a technician came out with me and heard the noise. Booked in got a courtesy car for a couple of days to allow investigation , turned out to be something loose behind the touch screen . Issue now resolved. Also had to get the  A pillar cover on left hand side (passenger side uk) re fitted as not fitted correctly and rubbing noise with dashboard

hi again lads,

yesterday, finally, i found the source of my problem (second video in my topic) on my own. i noticed that a/c aluminum pipe is loose and it was hitting to the sheet metal right under the bonnet rod root. then i followed the path of the pipe and noticed that pipe clip came off itself. it wasn't holding the aluminum pipe, which led to rattle noise. i dont know how this happened in a brand new car. so i tightened the pipe clip with my bare hands and problem is solved.😃 before that, i sent Skoda Czechia email about my problem to show how faulty car they have produced. now i am gonna also send email to Skoda Czechia regarding of solution about my problem. thanks for your previous answers.

also i really dont like the design of the pipes, hoses and cable under bonnet. they are too close to each others. tolerance for the gaps between parts are too small. in any kinds of failures just like in my car, it can lead to rattle noises.

In response to Alkaz comment regarding A pillar creaks, I think my month old Monte Carlo has the same issue. Occasional creaking seems to be coming from A pillar/top of dash on passenger side. Did the dealer know it was an issue? Will report to my dealer but useful to know issue may affect other cars.

In response to G Bain , usually dealer never seen this before . I think they get coached to admit nothing. Had a mk4 Octavia with sos error and other software issues known on the mk4 Octavia and mk8 Golf and they act as if your the first customer to report this.
