  1. Just looking at doing this and wandering why the glowplugs need removing?? Can someone let me know...Do most of my own maintenance but cambelts have always eluded me...
  2. Just noticed I have a tear in the piston boot.... Anybody ever changed one and how easy is it?? Seems I need to take the piston out to replace from what I've read. Its either that or I try and get some seal on it and monitor and replace the caliper if it goes in the future. Haven't had the caliper off yet as haven't had chance. Any advice appreciated. Cheers PS Its on a VW van but most calipers are similar in the vag range so thought some of you may know.
  3. Ordered the premium ones from GSF with the shocks at £15 a side so not to bad I guess...Will look see if I can get lower bolt.
  4. Am replacing the rear shocks is it good practice to replace the top mounts also as you would with the fronts or not as necessary?? Thanks

  6. Thats what I thought but didn't want to order the wrong ones. Thanks
  7. Euro car parts are listing 2 different pads ones with wear indicators and ones without. Any idea if a fabia vrs 05 year will have wear indicators or not?? Thanks
  8. Sounds good mate....my soldering skills not the best but if needed I guess practice makes perfect
  9. Tell me more mate...curious how you've done this. Might be useful in the future...How did you join them back together. DId you just splice them and what glue did you use, like a glue stick type glue from and glue gun?
  10. Got ya...Yes I will try it..Might be enough to break it....
  11. Air ratchet are tools of dreams...I'm left with hand tools I'm afraid...I have a dewalt imapact driver but it doesn't have masses of torque.
  12. Cool mate thanks for the info and the pics....It helps..
  13. Ok mate I will make sure there is a 5.5mm in the box...I know the plate you are talking about I think it was the same on the polo. Sounds like a ball ache....
  14. Fair enough...like I say was just an idea...
  15. Just thinking is there not enough access to get some spring compressors in there to get enough compression so that then you can get it out of the mount without going to the hassle of disconnecting the hub. Obviously without seeing it I don't know how far are it is when the driveshaft bottoms out.
  16. Your a star mate...Thanks for all the help
  17. Cool thanks....yes I guessed it needed to be a 12 pointer thats like the 32mm one I have for the Lupo as well...Halfords one seemed to fit the bill for this so hopefully be ok. But I will check and also get new hub nuts from the stealer before I attempt...
  18. Cheers for the info mate...I'll pick up a 36mm socket when I'm next in halfords...I'm guessing when we are talking about LHS we are talking passenger side just so I know which one needs hub off. Cheers
  19. So I'm guessing the information I read was for the LHS which I'm guessing then you have enough room to get it out without removing the extras and only need to do it for the one side. Yes its on coilovers at the moment although thread to wind are generally a pain in the arse to wind while under lots of load. Although sits quite low so maybe have enough room depends how much lea way there is I guess.
  20. Ok just going on what directions I found online and they didn't seem to mention it. But I'll take your word for it. Been a while since I did suspension and not done it on a fabia yet. Just checked my allen keys and seems my strut top is a 6mm allen key which I have in the box so thats a bonus.
  21. Arrghh Lupo one i have is 32mm...Just read a post and pics about removal and they don't seem to remove the hub nut do you need to take the hub off as it didn't seem to be needed?? Cheers
  22. Cheers..I will check my spline kit...I've had the hub off on the Mrs's Lupo and that was a big socket so hopefully the same I will check.
