Well, the bitch that crunched me got 5 points on her licence. Bit disappointing as I had asked for hanging or burning at the stake
-
Well, that's what used to be mine. I'm a bit stunned by this, to say the least, although glad that it's back on the road. No. 5 deserved to survive. Is there a legal definition of "light" damage? Also described as Cat C by the insurers.
-
Just to bring this to a conclusion, after a lot of haggling with the insurers I got the valuation up to £8990. Went to look at another SE but an RAC inspection showed a few things I wasn't happy with. Also had an offer of one with 42000 miles on from the dealer where I bought mine. In the end decided that I would always be comparing another one with my 005 and that it was time to move on. Gone for a different sort of motoring but with the same 1.9TDI engine pulling a bit of comfort. 1.9 TDI PD 130 Highline, 55 plate but only 28000 miles. Will still keep an eye on Briskoda, probably with a tinge of envy now and then.

Half a days job?
-
Probably, based on the conversations I've had with the morons at the insurers so far.
-
It looks bad enough, particularly with the engine hanging out, that I wouldn't want the repaired version. Neither drivers side doors shut so it's out of alignment.

There ya go Well nearly, thanks to JulieD behind the scenes and Big Jase.

Said I would be quite happy for them to find me one in same condition and with similar mileage but they didn't seem keen. I give up - how do I attach pictures?
-
Paint was £1000+, few other bits and pieces, plus VAT
-
Couple of pictures of the damage - the parts list goes on and on.

Fabia Special Edition VRS leather seat treatment / advice?

Thanks. Could really do with out the trauma of haggling over a corpse.

Thanks for this, very helpful.

Insurers reckon the repair cost is £15,000 including £9000 for parts and £2000+ for labour. Settlement is £7400. I've told them where to go. Any thoughts on what's realistic?
