Hiya
Just wondering if any of you have experienced an annoying whistling from the interior fan, this noise increases to a shriek as you increase the fan speed.
Is it something trapped on the fan housing or something? (before i go taking things apart) There is no noise when the air is not forced into the car (fan off). Tried the ole search but all i get is whistling turbos.
cheers

Full service at 90k carried out by Audi motorsport today.
Great service and kept me well informed. I can't rate these guys more.
I'll be back in 10k

Christmas is on kids....
90k service carried out today at audi motor sport near blackburn. Quality people, quality service. First time not to a main dealer.
One spliting bush found and that's all folks.
Now I've been reading a lot of late about people having reliability issues. All I've done on my 04 in two years of ownership is fit two tyres, add oil and service to schedule.....
Oh yeah and my 312mm discs were measured at 23mm, 10000 miles and nearly a year since simpsons at colne told me they were dangerous and required immediate replacement.

ill just get the bus if its that bad !
i do woodhead or snake pass over the peaks to sheffield from manchester everyday, light snow on the tops yesterday at 6am. i'd put a bit of money on it not being too good again this year.... i'd like to lose that money though. last year was a right ball ache!

How are your CV gaiters doing? I had one side done at 80k and the other side at 100k. Other than that, just the usual...

I have a mate who makes snow socks out of hessian sacking, cost peanuts and doesn't matter if they get destroyed when you're off the slippy stuff. i witnessed him barrel up a track in a mondeo estate that was said to be impassable.
I've just fitted me a set of Avon ice tourers £47 quid a piece from camskills for 195's. They are absolute quality and transform my car. couldn't give em a big enough recommendation.
drive safe now!

Easy way for women to beat other cars in highway grand prix
State of the boat race on that. i'd boot her out of my motor!

We use Sainsburys unleaded with no issues in the Octy, and I use it where possible in the works Mondeo. Otherwise it's BP (for the points )
The only fuel BOTH cars hate, is Shell!
petrol........ so overated!

Just my two penneth gent's, but I have been running my company estate on a well known supermarket brand of fuel for about 7 months. SWMBO insisted that seeing as my boss was paying for the fuel, we should have a bash at collecting clubcard points for the family christmas fund. Up until about 6 weeks ago said company estate had been running rougher and rougher (I currently do around a thousand miles a week). It coughed and splutered and generally ran as rough as heck. However, my clubcard points have been amassing quickly.
Company estate got that bad that it kept giving me water in the fuel warnings and made me wonder if I could complete an overtake safely without kangarooing like a probationer. Quick trip to the firms favoured mechanic, a filter, a slap on the wrist for using supermarket fuel and a promise made that I would never fill up on said fuel again and company estate is as good as new. I've been running shell and the occasional v power (boss frowns, he's paying) it's like I've got a different motor. Honest!
Perhaps it's because I'm covering so many miles daily that I can tell a huge difference!
Hasten to add missus is well peeved (but I have offered her the vouchers with shell drivers club) IMO a fair exchange is no robbery!
see ya!

mint is that......
would have gone for an 8 ball me'self..!

I've got to admit I don't have the correct answer on this one. I see your point with regard to 130mph being within limits but I cant imagine the insurance company will be 100% happy with people fitting a tyre rated to a lower speed than that which they leave the factory with.
I can't see that an insurance company would have an issue that you had correct type of tyre for the conditions you were driving in (not outright speed classification). I'm sure that someone 'in the know' will be along. Half this country would be uninsured if tyre speed ratings were law, along with fitting crappy remoulds and partworns that could have been on an accident damaged car.

I was looking at this this morning! I've got proabably 6-8 weeks left on my current set and after last winter was thinking about a set for the cold spell.
I noticed that all of the tyres on said website had speed rating H which isn't the standard for the Fabia. I wonder if this could createa problem with insurance?
Whats up with an H rating? Good for 130mph, the theroetical top speed of a vRS. If you're doing that in winter conditions, then you're my hero!
I had avon ice tourers fitted to my company estate last year. They transformed my confidence and safety. I was out working, when the other lads were stuck in. DOH!
If you're gonna buy winter tyres then do it now before the prices soar. We bought some a couple of months ago and have stashed them ready.
My gut feeling is this winter will be as bad, if not worse than last year. Bring back the jetstream!

Hi Davey,
At the moment mate we are offering a steal price on servicing
Basic Service - £89.00 all in
Full Service - £117.00 all in
Brake Fluid - £49.00 all in
Bargin prices!! We are over in Manchester if you fancy the trip over
AwesomeMike
Them's nearly main dealer prices? Local VW dealer had 50 off me for a brake fluid change. Inspection service was less than a ton. Play a few dealers off against each other and you'll be surprised!

Sport range will have the sport suspension (same as vRS) 3-spoke steering wheel, vRS seats and 17" wheels and tyres (same size as vRS)
So it should ride and handle like the vRS, but with less power. Get one with the 105bhp 1.2 TSI and a DSG box and you have a baby vRS. Could be very good fun.
Oooohh now you're talking Mike!
-
Any ideas when the fabia sport range will hit the showrooms? I don't foresee any performance increases but they look good to me on the fabia micrisite. Are you just paying for a centre armrest and shiny pedals?
I don't understand why skoda aren't producing something 'warm' between standard and vRS or perhaps I'm missing the point? i've been tempted to look at the ibiza fr range if i am to replace my vRS.
Your thoughts are appreciated.

As topic suggests, just wondering if any of you in Lancashire have used and would recommend chorley auto-volk for work/service?
Cheers

Recently got 540 miles from a full tank. I was well into the reserve when I bottled it and filled up. That was on a run from Cornwall to Manchester and back. 50mph average speed limits crap for journey times. good for economy! Oh and caravans on the A30!
