  1. pretty impressive.... but where are you going with the I've got all these driving qualifications?, I mean did you read the initial post which had a go at the idiots driving. Yes you do need to explain what you said. You make a remark saying I shouldn't comment on his driving as I have faults myself? WTF has that got to do with his driving and how he nearly caused an accident with 5 other vehicles - I'm fully entitled to comment on his appalling driving behaviour and yet your comment implies that I shouldn't say anything as I'm just as bad as him.

Seriously don't ever tell me I'm just as bad as him because you DID NOT see his driving , YOU DONT know how I drive and I find your remark offensive for implying such a thing.

  2. Glass houses and stones comes to mind....

    No offence ment to anyone..

People Who Live In Glass Houses Should Not Throw Stones ( don't criticize other people when you yourself have faults and weaknesses ...

care to explain that - as "No offence ment" is not really going to hide that remark you made.

  3. i had the same problem when my hp charger started to beep - original was £60, so brought a £7 off fleebay  what a POS. Spoke to my IT dept at work who all have HP laptops and told me to go on amazon and i picked up my genuine charger for £20 and it doesnt overheat like my original genuine one as well.

  4. I take it that they were 'driving' a Yeti?

yep - thats why its in the yeti forum :giggle:

i just hope he wraps his yeti round a lamp post and does himself some serious damage because of the way he drives. Thankfully im old enough and wise enough to let bell ends like him go after such stupid antics behind the wheel. Theres no excuse at the island as the lanes are all marked, signposted. He just wanted to jump the queue and go right across 4 lanes of traffic as soon as the lights hit green as he knew he wanted the outside lane for his exit.

  5. Garmin over tomtom - customer service is pants from tomtom

Had tomtom on my pda and after much hassle from tomtom, i ditched it and brought a garmin. That broke, took it back to comet who messed me about. Spoke to garmin who replaced it with a better model within 5 days...........but i have just brought a NAVIGON to replace my Garmin that broke and im very happy with it.

  6. I doubt that the driver in question is a member on this site but if he is then I hope that you are one day pulled over by the police and that you are prosecuted for driving like a complete :swear:

The incident occured at J3 M6 (9.30-9.45am) southbound island for coventry where they decided to go from the inside lane to the outside land in 1 go and stuff the rest of traffic in your way. If you had caused me to have hit another car or hit my car i would have had no qualms about doing you some physical harm without feeling guilty.

It wasnt a young driver but a middle aged tos**er probably driving his company vehicle to bedworth - i wish Knobs like him were banned from the road.

sorry rant over but when idiots like the one i had to deal with today cause accidents and leave the mess behind them it makes me :swear:

  7. I thought about the ps3 and kwikfit offered them at £130 each (on the website) which wasnt bad but i decided to stick a pair of ditch finders on(£60) and try them - holy **** they scare me in the wet but you pay what you get

I'll just wait and replace them with something better when i have to.

  8. .....I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, retirement funds, etc., I called the Suicide Hotline. I got a call centrein Pakistan, and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck...

yep that always gives me a smile :giggle:

  9. spot on - i said if i have to go the office to pick parts up its not logged on the system or if i have to meet engineers up to pick parts up again its not logged. My argument is why should i be made to do extra paperwork when im not the one whos falsified his mileage.

I dont officially have to declare my private mileage as i dont have a company car so its only business mileage for the tax man now.

  10. we had an email from the fleet manager saying the company now wanted start postcode and end post code for each job. Im a field based engineer so ive basically said stuff you im not doing it.

The other engineers are in revolt over it and are refusing to do its all a load of crap as someone got caught out giving a low private mileage.

We use fuel cards with reg number and mileage at each transaction so its all loged (but if you give the cashier a funny mileage number you can make any number up for business miles)

I log all my start and finish mileage and record all my private miles but its now not enough from my company so i told the area manager that as were all being treated as dishonest its not a good working relationship anymore!

I await to find out what will happen now weve all submitted our mileages without proof.

  11. Ok, i need a laptop for under £350 prefere £300 but £300-£350 budget.

requirements are for a secondry school stuff - not a games m/c but run of the mill stuff. I know its pretty hard to get anything at this price but HPs out of the price, looked at dell but i thought they were overpriced for what they are so help please and any links. Would prefer dual core but i think im pushing it on this price range.

    cheers

  12. I've just read the bit about the hire car company re the credit card. I picked my car up after it broke down after a week and Skoda uk arranged for a hire car (new ford mondeo) from hertz (I think) and all I provided was a debit card in case of damage. When my car was ready after 3 days I arranged with the hire company to leave the car at the dealers.

I don't have a credit card either but all the hire company wanted was my debit card for the usual stuff associated with hire cars.

communication looks to have gone a bit wrong between skoda and the hire company.

  13. Right.. one would assume there is a grace period between car tax expiring and the DVLA sending out a fine, but what is it?

Im in the situation that my car has been off the road, the MOT expired last month, the tax expires this month.. the MOT is due to be done in the next week, or the week after as worst case.

Is it worth declaring sorn for what would possibly be under 7 days? emoticon-0144-nod.gif

We appreciate that it is not always possible to tax your vehicle on time,

for example; if you are waiting for insurance or are getting a MoT for

your vehicle, you may not be able to renew your tax on time. You, as the

registered keeper, will not be committing an offence as long as you either

tax the vehicle or make a SORN within 14 days of your current tax disc

or SORN running out. You must keep your vehicle off the public road

during this time as you will be committing an offence if it is used or

    parked on the public road.

taken from the registrationcertificate and you - sent by the dvla or http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/ins160ni_061109.pdf

  14. I'm an accountant. Could have a quick look over the figures when I come pick up the head. ;)

The facts are fairly simple though. Business use of your own car - you are entitled to 40p a mile tax free up to 10,000 miles and 25p a mile therafter. There shouldn't be any taking of money away from you - It sounds to me like they owe you plenty and because of this they want a proper tax return doing. I can't really see why you need to though, considering you are (I assume) PAYE/Salary and this is simply about mileage allowances. :wonder:

    cheers jason

  15. yep - i get 10p a mile but now i received another letter saying "we have been looking at your tax records. We now believe you should do a tax return every year and well let you know which one" - looks like its time to speak to an accountant or a tax specialist as im out of my depth and i dont want to be screewed big time.

  16. send them what you have got including an explanation of the companys procedures of recording miles, explaining what you do ect, and that should be enough..... I've worked 18 months in a tax office, in my current job (medical tech ambulance service) I'm keeping photocopies of all my mileage claims, so I can provide them to the the taxman when I claim :) let me know what responses you get from them and I'll be happy to help.

thanks for the reply - i'll let you know, just waiting for the self assesment form to be sent to me.

  17. I need help please for anyone who works in a tax office or how to submit my claim for the mileage allowance relief.

I done a p87 for the 09/10 but it has been rejected as it over the £2500 so it's being classed as self assessment now?

also done a p87 for 08/09 for 1 month but I'm now being asked for exact starting location and finish location - trouble is I'm a service engineer doing upwards of 5-9 calls a day, I cover the midlands which can be Stratford upon Avon to Loughborough in Leicestershire to Dudley to pick parts up then to rugby etc. They the want date of each journey, distance travelled.

I do a Dailey record of start mileage, finish mileage - calculated for business mileage and private mileage which I have records for covering the last 5 years but I've never logged individual jobs I've done.

  18. I am on my second 360, my launch day one expired after about 18 months and this one has been fine ever since.

As long as the console is less than 3 years old and has the RROD then MS will repair or replace it for free.

The reason I guess people keep buying them, is they are cheap compared to the PS3. Should my 360 break, I can walk into a shop and get another for just over £100, slap the HDD from my current console on the side of the new one and switch on. Unlike a PS3 which would need an outlay of at least £250 to get going again, as these also fail as several friends have found out to their cost.

The current consoles based on the jasper chipset have now elliminated the RROD problem, I am not aware of any colleagues or friends with one of the later consoles who have had issues.

When the new console is released, I'll most likely go out and buy one because I like the idea of having 250GB of space, even though I still have loads of spare disk space on my current 120GB HDD.

The thing that got me with the free repair i was offered was its some one elses that been repaired not yours that gets returned back so if mine was less than 12 months i could possibly get a 2 year old m/c from a smokers household or someone who hasnt looked after their console - which i thought was wrong. You also say about the price outlay but i found that you need a hard drive fotr the 360 yeah i tried without it at the start but you cant save games and then its the the rip off subscription to go online. I recently changed my hdd to 500gb for £50 - my choice not sonys.

I think you answered my question on why do people keep going back to the 360 with "Should my 360 break, I can walk into a shop and get another for just over £100" - I just refused to go down the line of buying another one knowing it will break again.

I just hope they dont use crap manufacturing again and screw the loyal fanbase they have with the 360 which can be a very good product if done right.

  19. ok, if the RROD is still happening WHY do people still buy it? I know there's lots more games than the ps3 etc I mean if Skoda made a car that destroyed its engine and we had to buy another car and we knew that was going to happen again then we would go mental so then why do people put up with it from Microsoft?

  20. Is the RROD still a problem? i havent had a 360 in a few years after mine died and i refused to buy another knowing it would die again hence the ps3. The last i heard was that they had sorted it out but as i dont use the 360 forums anymore are they still dying?

  21. still looks as fat as ever and as for the power supply its still as big a power satation

Noticed you can pull the hard drive out but your still at the mercy of microsoft on what hard drive you can fit i.e. they control the price, i never noticed the sound of the fans before maybe because the volume was up on the tv!

Nah im glad i didnt buy another xbox as i dont trust microsoft with their new and improved "prone to fail" xboxs - more games but just as expensive as a ps3 when loaded up.

  22. Got to be a win for me - devastated after Italia 90 but every faith in capella to get the best out of his players.

Ferdinand injured - oh well it happened to captain marvel (robson) in 86-90 and we done well.

The friendly against Holland we were 2-0 down but came back and Holland were rocking and holding on at the end.

I don't fear any team - its 90 minutes and WE do have the players to beat the best over the 90 minutes

    BRING IT ON!
