  1. What did the OP decide, tyre-wise? I need new tyres for my Kodiaq in the same size. It's currently wearing 235/50 R19 Scorpion Verde though the car has a full size spare (and has a can of sealant and a pump in the boot). I'm still scratching my head about self-seal tyres as the manufacturers say "If you get puncture get the tyre replaced when you can". But, if the self-seal tyre has done its job, how would you know if you had a puncture if no pressure was lost?
  2. Replying to my own post - bad form - but Skoda Customer Services have just confirmed to me that as of July 1st 2023 VAG group wide has removed the time-based requirement on all cars completely and for my car the mileage interval is 140K!
  3. What's the current understanding on when a cambelt requires replacement? At the last service min-year, the dealer told me my Dec 2018 TDI 190 4X4 would need the cam belt doing at 5 years old - next month. However, I've see posts somewhere else that says there's a new policy and verified by a call to Skoda customer services, of at 100,000 miles with no time-based element. As the dealer was quoting me in the £800 region, I'd rather avoid the spend if not necessary.
  4. Thanks for your suggestions. I'll take a deeper look. Still a bit odd that the only time it does it is when it's very cold. Otherwise, it's as good as gold.
  5. The title says it: My wife's '07 plate 1.9TDI Roomster has for some while had this somewhat worrying problem. If the night has been freezing-level cold, when she starts the car, it will rev to the red line and sit there. Needless to say, she will immediately switch it off. This will happen two or three times more before it will (so far) eventually start properly. Any ideas where and what to start looking for?
  6. Looks good. Nice job. But... in the last Superb I had with leather seats, I'm sure the bolsters were a faux leather. It was only the area where your bum and back sit that was real hide. I concluded that when it went like your 'before' picture.
  7. I'm jumping ship in Feb when my current contract (Elegance CR170 DSG hatch) finishes as Skoda only offer the Greenline slug. I'd happily have an CR170 Elegance-spec estate with DSG box, but I've found that 1) an automatic 520d Touring will cost less per month on a like-for-like contract and 2) I'll pay marginally less BIK tax too!
  8. Cor, think of all the unleaded fumes on Downs Court Road! ;-)
  9. My 170 DSG (38K miles) has recently started making an awful humming noise between 1200-1500 RPM, I can often feel an accompanying vibration through the steering column. It sounds like a harmonic resonation. It starts quite suddenly at about 1200 as you pull away. As you slow and the gearbox changes down, putting the revs back into the range, you can hear it start up again. Bleeding irritating, it is. Grrr. Any ideas?
  10. It's a problem, isn't it. A much larger chunk of the range needs stop/start, etc. The (non-)performance of the Greenline and BIK CO2 tax hit is making me look elswhere for when my Superb Elegance 170 goes end of lease in Feb.
  11. Hah, you too, eh? My ETA for arrival at an overnight hotel in France was 02:00 the next morning, But I ignored the incessant "turn off at next junction" while on the autoroute and arrived at 20:30 the right day.
  12. I had three Saab 9-5s in a row (9 years-worth) before my Superb. For long distance comfort, the Superb wins hands down. The family all reckon the climate control was better in the Saab (I do too), but no-one grumbled at all about the comfort over a 600 mile day. Believe you me, no grumbling from my family says a lot!
  13. Good question: I decided the pair of wires under the bonnet, leading to each nozzle was a reasonble tell-tale.
  14. Apart from a cab in Glasgow, I've briefly glimpsed only one other Superb II in the five months I've had my car. Yesterday, I ended up waiting at a set of lights in Croydon with another Superb, in the same colour as mine, behind me! Clearly the best colour. A good choice, that man.
  15. Yup, I thought that was odd too. I had a Saab 9-5 before the Superb, and all the mirrors dimmed!
