Help! My EPC (Emissions) or CEL (Check Engine Lamp) is on.
supersport2 replied to cjb's topic in Skoda Octavia Guides
This occured to my 2008 vrs cr tdi, having just driven to Cornwall, a 500 mile journey late evening and night time, at a good pace! Limped it into Falmouth Skoda, who did the diagnostic and it came back DPF 90% full of soot and a fire warning! A new DPF and sensor, £1400 on warranty, but my car only has 22k on it and 4 months warranty left, to say I am concerned is an under statement!! I was told that if the engine had been a PD there would have been fewer problems as they are seen as being bomb proof!! Dealer said they had seen quite a few with this problem! -

Eclipse of Sunderland had no problems remapping my mates 59 plates petrol vRS, took ages to get past the security on my cr170 vRS on a 58 plate! Cracking maps too! -

Buying a vRS - anything I should look out for?
supersport2 replied to ahar's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I've had my 58 plate cr 170 vrs and I'm over the moon with it! Tyres on the front haven't lasted long, but all round, what a cracking car, thoroughly happy with it, and, touch wood, there have been no issues. You will get 50+ mpg if you drive like miss daisey, but I get mid 40s and still very happy! -
Sorry about the re post, but anyone know of any deals on these??
-
What tyres are you all fitting? Mine have lasted 12500 on the fronts!! What do you think of Toyos??

Air bags have gone off on a a motor that I'm thinking of getting, just wondering how hard is it and is there anything I need to know to make it safe and easy?

Initial impressions of a VRS Cr Tdi
supersport2 replied to slow66's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I paid 14k for a 58 plated uk one, that was 10 months old with 10k on the clock, having spoken to the motorpoint team. I was a bit put off with the non uk spec, but to each their own. I can't believe how quick these cars are. I had a vectra 150 cdti with a power box on, and the octy is so much quicker. A million miles better than the vectra. Top choice. I love mine. I'm a right sad git, everytime I look out the window or walk past it, I have to stop and admire it. -
do ex police cars have any extras?
supersport2 replied to McG MkII's topic in General Automotive Chat
I'd never have one given! You see the way they re driven and its high mileage servicing! No thanks! I've just bought a cr170 vrs from Surrey, and the salesman told me that the local force run the same vrs' but with a remap that allows them to do 158mph! -
vRS TDI cr 170 Octavia remap
supersport2 replied to supersport2's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I have discussed the cr170 remap with the Revo agent and an Angel rep, both tell me that their company has a remap for this engine. The Revo rep checked my ecu, but couldn't find a match. The Revo website does have information for the cr170 in Audi, Seat, VW and Skoda varients, but I am waiting to hear from Revo, because they are local and I have heard very good things about them. I'll give him a ring later to see if he has found a match! -
vRS TDI cr 170 Octavia remap
supersport2 replied to supersport2's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Went to have my car remapped, but the Revo dealer didn't have the right software for my car! He said he'll check with Revo tonight, but he didn't have it handy! He said he had the software for an E ecu but not an EL! Bummer! -

My intentions are to keep my new car for about 5 years anyway. I get my cars serviced at Stoneacre in Middlesbrough as a good mate works there and gives a much better service than I would expect, and puts 0 40 oil in too. I'm also concerned about the first service for the cr engine on the vRS, as I understand it, Skoda de tune the engines to prevent problems from the DPF. And I'm not a fan of my local dealer either! I never bought my car from there, I went to Woolpit in Surrey instead.

Cheers, thanks for that..

Do I need to take my vRS to a Skoda dealer, to maintain the warranty? Or is it a vat paying garage can do the service?

vRS TDI cr 170 Octavia remap
supersport2 replied to supersport2's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Cheers Carl. I know what you mean I have read that the 170 engine can usually put out up to 190 as stock anyway, but I'll see what his crack is.. -
vRS TDI cr 170 Octavia remap
supersport2 replied to supersport2's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I've had quotes from Angel tuning and Revo. Angel are pricing £295 and Revo at £399. I've heard a lot of good things about Revo, and I know the guy who would be doing mine. I had a good chat with him and he says that there is an inherant problem with the 170 cr engine, with the dpf. He says it needs a good blast out every now and again and that is the only problem he is aware of with the 170. He is in his 60's and knows VWs inside and out. He says it'll put out around 220 to 230 bhp, which sounds interesting. I'm going for a bit of crack with him tomorrow and see what he says. He's a no bull sort of bloke and won't take your eyes out. Will let you know tomorrow! -
Has anyone heard of ChipBoost in Scarborough? They are advertising on ebay with remaps. I have contacted them and they offer a remap package that gives the cr engine 210bhp and torque of 350. This is for £300. I'm a new owner, with a 58 plated vRS and still mulling over if I should remap or leave it! What pit falls are there with a remap, except the increase in insurance and lack of warranty, if they find out! But is the engine more likely to fail or parts of it? It all sounds interesting and I am seriously thinking about the remap, but what should I do??? Any comments would be appreciated
