  1. I received an email to renew my extended warranty for my 5 yr old Octavia and was surprised it was cheaper than last year. Eventually I found out the reason -Skoa have changed suppliers for the warranty and it now DOES NOT INCLUDE RAC breakdown cover. This was not clear in the info I received with the email and even when I read the terms and conditions it looked very similar to previous years.

  2. The bad news -my 06 2.0tdi estate had same problem with esp light coming on, same diagnosis of ABS controller failing and same cost of £1500 (the repairing garage said this had been a regular problem with VWs but was now occurring more frequently with Skodas)

The good news -I bought this car when it was just under 3 years old, noticed that you could extend warranty for another 3 years for about £300, so I did!

Moral - buy cars with long warranty periods or take up the bargain offer of extending Skoda's warranty for a further 3 !!

p.s. I also love my L&K estate and was disappointed to have this problem

  3. In the past when buying a new "secondhand" car I have always purchased the Haynes manual. Although these threads have been helpful when working on my newly aquired Octavia II 2.0TDi L&K estate 2006 (which is excellent) I would still like a manual. Has anyone bought and used any of the manuals available on sites like ebay (in hard copy or as a DVD) and found them it useful ?
