Try the foam seal and clearing leaves from behind the plastics in the wheel well 👍 still haven’t looked further into my condensate issue, just using the car without aircon. (I know it’s not the ac with you)

So...it is the aircon after all!

 

I have turned it off the last few weeks and have experienced heavy rainfall, car is dry.

 

The aircon is still chucking out condense under the car but obviously not all of it. Where does it leak?

Yeah drips away. It’s got to be rain ingress 🤦‍♂️

I have had my 2010 estate for 6 years now, pretty much trouble free. 
 

Mid summer during a heavy rainfall my wife was driving and I felt water drip onto my feet. As a result I did some research on here and removed the scuttle cover, checked and clean the drain holes. They were however clear.

 

Summer has come to an end and water is now freely flowing in through the housing.

 

I have done the following:

 

remove foam seal around air intake, silicone and refit: problem continued.

 

move position of horn to side of air take: problem continued.

 

Removed edge of of arch cover under front near side wheel and cleaned out leaves from within: problem continued

 

I am now out of ideas. It’s certainly worse when driving and taking roundabouts or hard rights, water literally pours out without the filter in. 

 

Are there any enter points in the ducting between the housing and air intake? 

can a leak elsewhere cause it to enter the ducts, ie windscreen or door seal. The car is a non sunroof model.

 

it’s going to be either a failed seal or debris blocking a drain hole I guess due to age. It needs sorting though as it’s soon going to fry my heated seat module in the passenger footwell :( furthermore the car is steaming up and smells.

RCV valve on the compressor. It’s a £25 part just the system needs to be degassed and gassed again. I have been meaning to change mine for the last two years 😞 keep putting it off, good 5 minute delay on ours

Check shocks. Just replaced our rear springs and shocks. The shocks were both knackered. Free sliding

Some kind person has kicked my drivers wingmirror off. I have bought a second hand one (power fold)

He's a numpty. The S3 has the same setting as your superb in the lighting menu. Sorry to disappoint you.

Please forgive me if I'm wrong but I did not see a value in your 'answer'? I'm really not that bothered about such a low value car if I'm honest. Auto trader have stated 1100 so doesn't seem I'm far out. Will advertise it for a grand and see how I get on.

Makes sense, I have always thought myself they read like adverts however I doubt people of this forum will be interested in our old thing. Perhaps an upgrade for your god awful 1.4 and 2.0 ones though?

my wife has used it to commute in for the last 5 years - it's been a brilliant car to be fair. Interior is immaculate, I replaced the seat base for a new genuine one a couple of years ago. Loads of receipts from TPS inc new Arb etc.

 

Exterior is not the best. there is some rust on the front sills and the rear QTRs but generally the paint is ok.

I see more clutch problems on here than DSG. It's really reliable, VW made it ensured it was so they would compete well. Brilliant box and well suited to the big cruiser that is the superb.

I had the same problem recently and in the end I decided the wiring loom was broken down somewhere. Replaced the wiring from sensor to behind the dash under the scuttle panel. All is fixed. Sounds hard but it's easy as wires colour coded
