  1. Thanks for the replies everyone. Skoda4x4man - I did see that very post but I really would like a DSG and his is a manual, otherwise it would already be sold ...
  2. Thanks Colin. Mostly A55 and only occassional snowy day on the way to work so sounds like FWD may be the more sensible option.
  3. Hi everyone I'm currently looking at Superb's. I'm after 170hp Elegance estate with DSG, probably around a 2012 plate. I have seen a handful of cars on Autotrader that I may be interested in, though a couple are 4x4. This isn't something I really need as I don't plan to tow anything so should I discard these cars and stick to the front wheel drive vehicles? More to go wrong perhaps? Additional servicing - haldex service every 40k - not sure how expensive this is? Fuel economy? I do around 30k a year - mostly motorway miles. Thanks for reading.
  4. I have an 07 L&K and mine came with 17" wheels as standard and it has the standard suspension. I thought the sports suspension was an option.
  5. I always 'forget' to turn them on as well as all my other cars (all Japanese) turned the heated mirrors on with the rear window. I prefer to leave my mirror switch over to the 'left' mirror as that enables the wing mirror dip when you put it in reverse.
  6. It doesn't. Bluetooth is an additional module which can integrate with the Bolero though.
  7. Does this mean I wouldn't need to get someone with VCDS to code up the new head unit for Maxidot / Steering Wheel Controls? Thanks .
  8. I have heated seats in my L&K and have really appreciated them the past week or so. They heat up before I get to the end of the road where it takes the heater a good 10 minutes or so to get warm. I have the alacantra trim and not leathe if it makes a difference. Having said all that, I would'nt count them as a must have when I buy my next car.
  9. I have the Audience H/U. It has six disc built into that and it can not control an external CD changer. I think it is this feature you require for MDI (I believe it replaces the external changer ability?). The Audience H/U also had an option for amp + additional speakers so if you have these it may not be simple to install a Bolero.
  10. Octavia is 4 stars when tested in 2004, I guess there weren't enough changes after 2007 to warrant a retest? http://www.euroncap....a_2004/206.aspx It says they test the Ambiente model, I'm not sure if the higher spec cars would score higher. My L&K has more airbags as standard, etc
  11. I was charged £125 last week from my local dealer. The main reason I go there is convenience as it's the closest garage to me (walking distance) and I can get a courtesy car from them so I don't have to take time off work.
  12. I have an Audience without the extra amp / speaker package and think it easily sounds as good as the Bolero / Columbus systems fitted in our works pool cars so personally I would upgrade for the sound quality, but I definately like the features and looks of the newer systems more than the Audience.
  13. I'm interested in doing this, does anyone know if it's an MOT requirement?
  14. As you guys have the Audience I'd guess you also have the steering wheel controls - do these work with the Bolero? I'd considering this upgrade but use those controls a lot so wouldn't want to lose them.
  15. Can I ask how everyone's springs have managed in the cold weather recently? Trying to decided which is the most reliable ones to go for. Thanks
  16. Thanks for the replies everyone, I only noticed a couple of these this morning. I attempted a repair by applying clear coat to the scratch and very lightly wet sanded the area, this just seems to have given the area a 'smeared' look, though the scratch feels smoother. Think my next stop will be to take it to someone that knows what they are doing as I don't think I've improved the situation! Thanks for the advice though
  17. My 2007 Octavia was keyed last night :( and now I need some advice on trying to remove the scratch. The scratch is around 10 inches long and deep enough that you can feel it rough under your finger, though it doesn't look as though it's broken the paint which makes me think I should be able to 'buff it up' myself. A quick search of the forum suggests that Meguiars Scratch X may do the job? If it makes any difference the car is Antracite in colour and the paintwork is tidy rather than perfect as I only wash the car, I'm not a detailer. The other option is to get someone like chips away to do it, I believe there is someone local to me (North Wales) if anyone has ever used them? I know this would be easier with pictures but I'm in work before it gets light so won't be able to post one up before tonight. Advice, opinons and recommendations requested please Thanks
  18. I have a 2007 L&K with electric seats and I can't adjust the lumbar to anything suitable either. Heated seats are nice though and I'm not sure if this is only available with electric seats?
  19. I bought some of those Vanstyle ones after reading this thread. I'm not 100% sure I like them, though they are growing on me but I would definitely prefer tinted windows. They did arrive within 48 hours of ordering though so great service from them.
  20. As your PC is going to be fairly close to your TV anyway I wouldn't worry about DNLA too much. The functionality built in to current TV's are poor at best and are only there as marketing blurb. You will have a much better experience just using your TV as a monitor (especially if your video card has HDMI out). fwiw I 'can' use both my xbox as a streamer or my TV (last years Sony W5500) as a DNLA client and both options are fairly rubbish - personally I think a media centre is the way to go.
  21. I use autoglym fast glass with kitchen towel and I'm quite happy with it. But I do notice that I still have the 'arc' of the windscreen wipers when cleaning - anyone managed to clean this or is it just a case of elbow grease?
  22. We've been to Edinburgh and York (not on the same trip) and would recommend both, had a brilliant time at both, lots to see, nice restaurants, etc.
  23. I've just fitted a CK3100 to my 2007 Octavia just last week. I used a SOT-976 lead from ebay here I needed to swap the orange and red leads over on the parrot cable, then take a switched live from the fuse box with an inline 5A fuse. I did fit a piggy back connector initially but it stuck out so far I couldn't get the lid of the fuse box back on! There is very little room behind the stereo but there is room above it if you gently lift out the air vents and storage box.
  24. No 1 redone looks better to me, think it looks a bit more balanced. Will have a mooch on ebay for filter.
