  1. Hi Tom, If memory serves that was a bug in earlier VCDS versions, meaning ignorance was bliss. When we realized that VW/Audi started using extremely long Adp value strings -and- the older Legacy interfaces (HEX-USB+CAN and Micro-CAN) could not modify Adaptation channels that exceed 256 byte lengths the warning was added to VCDS. At that time we were able to make the newest HEX-NET and V2 interfaces capable of the modifications but we could not port that into the Legacy interfaces. I'm pretty sure our awareness began in Beta 17. For example, my '17 Alltrack maps do not have the byte size in this thread: http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?8917-2017-NAR-Golf-Alltrack .. but this post (from another user) included the Byte size in his Adp maps and there were a LOT of 256 channels : http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?12941-2018-Golf-GTI-Reference-Scan-(with-17-12-BETA)&p=117602&viewfull=1#post117602 In conclusion, we didn't take any functions/features away and I don't think an earlier VCDS version would have been capable of properly saving massive channels with a HUC. I see you recently joined our forum so feel free to post any factory condition maps/scans, the Coding and Adp logs found in the Debug folder in addition to the current configuration maps/scans there for review.
  2. Gizmo has that %100 correct. The only thing I'll add is some Distributors can offer upgrade (trade-in) discounted pricing. For that reason you may want to ping your dist (that looks like an Ilexa label) to see what they can offer. I believe you'll see that 4B-Multifunc. Module in any of the latest 2018 factlifted cars with LED headlights. For instance Andy's NAR (US market) 2018 A3 e-tron uses it but an older 2016 (pre-facelift with Xenon) A3 would not. Ref scan: http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?12616-2018-Audi-A3-e-tron
  3. That should get you started and if you need any assistance post the before and after VCDS Auto-Scans here for review.
  4. I think Sebastian wanted to know what parts were checked or replaced, but the 074 test passing in a shop environment might not be conclusive. If the exhaust system is restricted and causing excessive back-pressure (perhaps related to the P0420 code) while driving or the EGR is sticking internally at times that may explain the fault codes. Did you run Output tests? The freeze frame data in Generic OBD-II may be helpful if the vehicle is complaint: http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/obd-2.html
  5. Hi, I see this is resolved but we have a page on that now: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Checking_Cruise_Control_using_Measuring_Values
  6. Thanks for the update! It seems as if 1C is a Superb Sedan, so we were close but not correct. 31 should be a Superb Wagon/Combi ant this should finally be restored back to stock. If you happen to notice anything else, aside from the rear sidelights, please let me know. -Dana
  7. Hi Guys! Martin, I updated the results in the VW Vortex so far: For those with Byte 18 issues... (MK6) I was going to ask you privately (via email) to try another setting, but I'll go ahead and ask openly since this is the best location for the info. Please try coding Byte 18 from 1C (which has corrected the complete lack of DRLs) to 31 Hex | 00110001 and let me know the results. Nick, I haven't forgotten about you but I am concerned about any more experimental coding since the dealer had to resolve this the last time. Sinclair, My apologizes in advance but I do not remember the details about this vehicle. Did we email or chat on the VW Vortex? Post up a complete Auto-Scan or send it via email if you prefer.
  8. If this is a 2010 MY you should have a BCM / 09 module installed and the Long Coding Helper will contain the coding information when connected to the vehicle. Post the complete Auto-Scan prior to modifications if you can't find the settings and this is a genuine VCDS system. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf/Golf_Plus_%285K/52%29_Tweaks
  9. Yes, the 8T0 was one of the first GWs to use the shorter coding and [installation List] but the 7N0 modules are similar: http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/recode_screen.html#Gateway As a general rule of thumb, even on older systems, using the [installation List] feature is preferred. Normally GW replacements aren't due to failure, rather upgrades when copy and paste cannot be used due to the length of the coding.
  10. That depends on the Immo system that's installed: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer What are the details about this vehicle and which component(s) are going to be replaced?
  11. See if my 2010 Golf (similar UDS protocol cluster setup) results help: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4868432-Fuel-Gauge-Adaption-2010-Jetta&p=66099017&viewfull=1#post66099017
  12. That looks like the motor is actually stuck, or the flap door has an obstruction of some sort. Since this is the Recirc. Flap I'm guessing it's very near the Air Pollen filter. If that's like the VW equivalent, I think you can remove the pollen filter and gently push the flap door or look at the movement while running Basic Settings. I would not prevent it from moving during the test, but see if it sticks.
  13. Thanks for the update! This also corrected the RoW Golf/GTD vehicle I mentioned via email and he had installed the switch, so the cluster coding (Byte 2, Bit 0) was the missing link. -Dana
  14. You can run and save the complete Auto-Scan prior to any coding modifications as shown here: http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/autoscan.html I would personally save a backup of the scan in another location for a backup, emailing it to yourself or coping to a flash drive would be sufficient. Depending on the installed module, fogs as cornering lights should be possible: http://octavia-vrs.com/cms/content/enabling-cornering-light-function http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/Golf5.html The 2001 Audi S6 will be limited due to the age and (lack of) diagnostic capability. You should be able to tweak the windows via remote and a few other minor modifications to that car: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec36.shtml
  15. The cracked price should speak for itself. The linked product is an Illegal Clone of our copyrighted product. The Genuine article can be purchased directly from us or any of our Authorized distributors: http://www.ross-tech.com/distributors.html -Dana-
  16. That might be possible with the DRLs but this depends on the module and coding setup. If you're in question post the complete Auto-Scan from VCDS. Most of the Golf platform stuff here should apply: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4743553-VCDS-MKVI-MK6-Platform-Handy-Coding-tweaks If you have someone change coding for you make sure you get a copy of the original and final Auto-Scans. If you have a problem after tinkering it's a lot better when the original configuration can be restored
  17. What control module are you working on, the Immo? Please post the Auto-Scan and the Login/Security Access you're using. If this is the actual PIN/SKC for the vehicle don't worry about posting it in open forum.
  18. I thought you caught my last name, Smetanick. Either way that's kind of an unknown If the IMRC (Intake Manifold Runner Control) is dodgy you may have problems in the future. That would include limp mode, MIL on, Air/Fuel trim issues, or stalling at idle at worst. It won't make the engine Blow Up or anything crazy. See if that Basic Settings will run after clearing fault codes. If it won't run properly or the codes come back you may want to replace it or check the part numbers I listed with the dealer.
  19. If that's a model year 2002 with the 7 and 8th digits of the VIN 6E or 6X it does not use CAN bus to communicate to a scan tool. http://www.ross-tech.net/VCDS/download/VCDSCompatibilityCharts.pdf The Genuine product would work with our current software and include support is the KII-USB. http://www.ross-tech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=VCKII&Category_Code=VAGCOM Providing that the 3rd party lead works...VCDS-Lite when registered would be fine for that car: http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/download/index.html http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/vag-functions.html http://www.ross-tech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=VCDSLiteReg&Category_Code=VAGCOM -Dana-
  20. The Genuine product can be purchased directly from us or any of our Authorized Distributors: http://www.ross-tech.com/distributors.html http://www.ross-tech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=VAGCOM Micro-CAN or HEX-USB+CAN will work on a CAN car like the Octavia 2. http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/applications/index.html Also see the Rest of World .pdf linked at the bottom. The Micro-CAN will not work on older cars that don't use CAN or some of most of the Audi models, but it is less money: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/Micro-CAN.html The HEX-USB+CAN will work on all VAG vehicles forward and backwards compatible, but you pay more for it: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/hex-usb+can.html I will note, if the knock off lead made a change and the comfort flashing turns changed back...that sounds like the car did that. If you made other coding changes that specific adaptation may have resorted to default. Either way, the genuine product is a good start and you can update to the current software when we have updates available. ( You won't be stuck using cracked SW from 2009) -Dana-
  21. HI, Any interface with a version number on is such as 912.x is not genuine so I wouldn't expect it to work with any reliability. Is your friend using a genuine Ross-Tech MIcro-CAN or HEX-USB+CAN interface? If so, post the Auto-Scan from the car so we can see what is communicating.
  22. Hi, My father's side of the family tree isn't well know. I was always told I was 50/50 Italian and Russian but based on some more recent holiday conversations apparently there was a discrepancy about my (father's) grandparent's actual origin and Slovakia was mentioned. If that's the case ... Czech wouldn't be impossible. Thanks for the scan and info. This BWA looks identical to the US BPY I mentioned. I believe the SW update was already done on your vehicle, and even if the dealer has a newer version this vehicle is chipped so you wouldn't want to overwrite that. IMO that recall/RVU didn't "fix" the IMRC faults anyway, the cars returned days later with the same IMRC fault codes. The newest IMRC adjuster unit appears to be 06F-133-482-E. Your model appears to have the same linear super-session B -> D -> E and my best guess is that you have the early (problematic) version installed. If you haven't done so already try the basic settings listed here before throwing any parts at it: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/2.0l_TFSI_%28AXX/BGB/BPJ/BPY/BWA%29#Intake_Manifold_Runner -Dana-
  23. Yes, often times fault codes are not listed in the repair manual. The Ross-Tech Wiki does not contain every single VAG (VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda) fault either. When registered customers need assistance with a specific fault code we ask for a complete Auto-Scan from the vehicle. This allows us to see details regarding which modules are installed in the car, how they're currently coded and what the full fault code descriptions are. Often times we can evaluate software levels (for TSB's, dealer flash updates or known problems) and this gives us a good feel for the car itself including Model Year, Engine, Transmission and Body configuration including minor differences between a convertible or hardtop for example . Country or Market details also help including LHD or RHD. Normally, if a forum member or customer only sends/posts fault codes without any of the other data I cannot accurately answer. In this case, I'm in a Skoda forum so the brand is self explanatory but I don't know what engine this car has in it. Keep in mind the US does not have the Seat or Skoda brands at all and without the model year I'm pretty limited. If I saw a scan with a 2.0TSFI engine I could quickly relate to the US spec. 2010 VW Gti I drive daily... and worked on all of those years at the VW dealer replacing IMRC motors and running recall flashes. In that case I could offer some additional (personalized) assistance beyond posting the following links http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/19593/P3137/012599 http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/17026/P0642/001602
  24. That's basically it, but take a look at Byte 14. Bit 7 Also see my notes about the turn signals and/or turning the wheel: Cornering Lights via Front Fog Lights active Found in Coding, Long Coding helper Notes: The lights may work under the following conditions: - The headlights must be turned on and the steering wheel must be in the turning direction. - Headlights on, fogs off, turn signal on in the turning direction. Also see Byte 17, Adaptive Light/Cornering Light Variant. This seems to control the fogs as cornering lights with turn signal. That's from this post: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4743553-VCDS-MKVI-MK6-Platform-Handy-Coding-tweaks This shouldn't be related to the lack of dash MFA/MFD/ maxidot. The "Corner" or "Bends" lights on the dash are for the Xenon AFS steering lights, not the fogs as turns.
  25. I agree with the channel 4 settings, but I don't know if that will have the results you desire. I think it will only adjust the duration, not the delay of the washer system. I don't see any other settings for the headlight washers.
