  1. I know the MK3 Golf steering wheel fits, but does the MK1/2? I want to fit a Grant steering wheel (which I know can be made to fit as I have seen somebody on here with one, can't remember who?) Grant don't list a fitting kit for Fellys, but I have found a MK1/2 Golf fitting kit which may well work?
  2. I replaced the tensioner spring at the weekend, in order to stop the chirping. I think it was a total of 4 bolts which needed to come out/go back in. It took 3-4 hours of contorting, swearing, dropping tiny bolts, swearing skinning knuckles, swearing etc before I had everything back together! Whilst doing the job, I found the l shaped shaft was dry and very worn. ar5e! No way of getting this out to replace without removing engine or cutting a hole in the inner wing. Once it was back together, I had lessened, but not eradicated the chirping, double ar5e! I think now that my engine has passed it's 180,000 mile 'birthday' it may well be time to do the tdi engine swap I've been putting off for 5 years!? Now then, what happened to all the mk3 Golf tdis over the past 5 years?!
  3. So I could surely drill the holes larger on the 'new' hub carrier to suit the pick up brake caliper carrier?
  4. Hi, quick question for you. I need a new front hub carrier (what I would call an upright. The bit which the strut clamps in to and holds the bearing/hub and steers) for my 1.9D non-abs pick up. I have found a carrier for a 1.3 non-abs. It looks the same, but are they interchangable? Thanks
  5. Hi, not been on here for ages. I shall post a pic or two of my truck in it's current guise once I have taken some. Now I realise Skoda UK have very little/nowt in the way of body panels for felly pick ups. What about in the Czeck Rep? I have done one or two google searches with no joy. Has anyone got a Czech parts dealer they have used and can reccommend? I'm after inner rear wings and wheel arch repair sections. Any prod in the right direction would be ace.
  6. Thanks. I didn't think I was wrong. The company are trying to tell me estate/pick up exhausts are the same and that I have ordered the wrong one. They have sent me the wrong one.
  7. Hi, can somebody let me know if the rear silencer for a 1.9 diesel: estate, pick up and cube van are the same/interchangeable? I have a cube van, bought a silencer off of the internet which said it was for a pick up/estate and doesn't fit my cube van. Cube van and pick up are mechanically the same, am I correct? Not too sure about the estate? The tail pipe is much longer on the new pipe compared to the one on my cube van. I'm wondering if they have sent me one for an estate? What do you lot think? ta
  8. There aint a gasket on any of the three gearboxes I've changed.
  9. Yup, box out has worked fine for me on several occasions. The end cover needs to come off on a diesel, just be careful when the end cover is off.. I drop the box out onto a folded up tarp & flattened out cardboard boxes for protection.
  10. So my gearbox is kaput on my diesel pick up, input shaft bearings I think anyway it's done 160k so had a good innings). I have a spare diesel gearbox which I took apart as the bevel gears in the diff had fallen down (arse!). On reassembly of said gearbox I obviously didn't put the reverse selector lever back in the corrct place as when using reverse gear the truck just didn't pull properly and only just worked. It felt much like a slipping clutch. Now, my quandry is, Do I tackle the reverse gear problem? Whilst I am a bit of a have a go hero with mot things mechanical I'm loathed to take it apart without some sort of instruction book (Haynes manual doesn't cover it). Anyone got a felicia gearbox manual? The other option I am considering is getting another gearbox and swapping them over. Now from last time I rang about diesel felicia spare most yards had petrol cars but no diesels. If I were to get a petrol gearbox would I make the truck undriveable? I have researched final drives and realise there is a diffference, but what actual driving experience would this give me? My commute to work is solely on B roads and country lanes and I do very little motorway driving. Would the addition of say a 1.6 gearbox make my truck more 'sporty' for the types of roads I drive on?
  11. Is this your opinion or is there evidence of fuel additives not working?
  12. Blank it off! When you get it apart, use the gasket as a template and cut an aluminium blanking plate. When you get a chance, take the plastic airbox off (the manifold) and scoop out all the sh1te which will have acumulated there. This may not necessarily be the problem. but you can at least tick it off and it should free up one or two (currently strangled!)horses. There is a thread with pictures on here somewhere.
