  1. I know the MK3 Golf steering wheel fits, but does the MK1/2? I want to fit a Grant steering wheel (which I know can be made to fit as I have seen somebody on here with one, can't remember who?) Grant don't list a fitting kit for Fellys, but I have found a MK1/2 Golf fitting kit which may well work?
  2. I replaced the tensioner spring at the weekend, in order to stop the chirping. I think it was a total of 4 bolts which needed to come out/go back in. It took 3-4 hours of contorting, swearing, dropping tiny bolts, swearing skinning knuckles, swearing etc before I had everything back together! Whilst doing the job, I found the l shaped shaft was dry and very worn. ar5e! No way of getting this out to replace without removing engine or cutting a hole in the inner wing. Once it was back together, I had lessened, but not eradicated the chirping, double ar5e! I think now that my engine has passed it's 180,000 mile 'birthday' it may well be time to do the tdi engine swap I've been putting off for 5 years!? Now then, what happened to all the mk3 Golf tdis over the past 5 years?!
  3. So I could surely drill the holes larger on the 'new' hub carrier to suit the pick up brake caliper carrier?
  4. Hi, quick question for you. I need a new front hub carrier (what I would call an upright. The bit which the strut clamps in to and holds the bearing/hub and steers) for my 1.9D non-abs pick up. I have found a carrier for a 1.3 non-abs. It looks the same, but are they interchangable? Thanks
  5. Hi, not been on here for ages. I shall post a pic or two of my truck in it's current guise once I have taken some. Now I realise Skoda UK have very little/nowt in the way of body panels for felly pick ups. What about in the Czeck Rep? I have done one or two google searches with no joy. Has anyone got a Czech parts dealer they have used and can reccommend? I'm after inner rear wings and wheel arch repair sections. Any prod in the right direction would be ace.
  6. Thanks. I didn't think I was wrong. The company are trying to tell me estate/pick up exhausts are the same and that I have ordered the wrong one. They have sent me the wrong one.
  7. Hi, can somebody let me know if the rear silencer for a 1.9 diesel: estate, pick up and cube van are the same/interchangeable? I have a cube van, bought a silencer off of the internet which said it was for a pick up/estate and doesn't fit my cube van. Cube van and pick up are mechanically the same, am I correct? Not too sure about the estate? The tail pipe is much longer on the new pipe compared to the one on my cube van. I'm wondering if they have sent me one for an estate? What do you lot think? ta
  8. There aint a gasket on any of the three gearboxes I've changed.
  9. Yup, box out has worked fine for me on several occasions. The end cover needs to come off on a diesel, just be careful when the end cover is off.. I drop the box out onto a folded up tarp & flattened out cardboard boxes for protection.
  10. So my gearbox is kaput on my diesel pick up, input shaft bearings I think anyway it's done 160k so had a good innings). I have a spare diesel gearbox which I took apart as the bevel gears in the diff had fallen down (arse!). On reassembly of said gearbox I obviously didn't put the reverse selector lever back in the corrct place as when using reverse gear the truck just didn't pull properly and only just worked. It felt much like a slipping clutch. Now, my quandry is, Do I tackle the reverse gear problem? Whilst I am a bit of a have a go hero with mot things mechanical I'm loathed to take it apart without some sort of instruction book (Haynes manual doesn't cover it). Anyone got a felicia gearbox manual? The other option I am considering is getting another gearbox and swapping them over. Now from last time I rang about diesel felicia spare most yards had petrol cars but no diesels. If I were to get a petrol gearbox would I make the truck undriveable? I have researched final drives and realise there is a diffference, but what actual driving experience would this give me? My commute to work is solely on B roads and country lanes and I do very little motorway driving. Would the addition of say a 1.6 gearbox make my truck more 'sporty' for the types of roads I drive on?
  11. Is this your opinion or is there evidence of fuel additives not working?
  12. Blank it off! When you get it apart, use the gasket as a template and cut an aluminium blanking plate. When you get a chance, take the plastic airbox off (the manifold) and scoop out all the sh1te which will have acumulated there. This may not necessarily be the problem. but you can at least tick it off and it should free up one or two (currently strangled!)horses. There is a thread with pictures on here somewhere.
  13. The information you need is defo on here, do a forum search and you will have more than enough info!
  14. Uma 1998, you mention the load sensor and bypassing it. I was wondering that as mine is lowered. Surely if the truck is lowered the sensor 'thinks' there is a load in the back and puts more brakeing effort to the back? Is bypassing the load sensor a good idea?
  15. My (offside) turret top popped off a couple of weeks ago in the afternoon of the last day of summer hols, arse! (I'm a teacher) Needing the truck to get to work, i made a repair using the top from a disposable mig welding gas canister. Nice thick 3-4mm steel. even got a nice pre-centred hole to enlarge. I've got a small pile of them which had been amassed due to my local tip refusing to take them. I cannot reccommend anyone do this, but if you choose to, be very careful and only use empty ones which have had the valve unscrewed. It was only meant to be a temporary fix to get me to work the next day, It has worked well however and I dare say is better than anything I could make from scratch (I am not a pro!)
  16. Look what I spotted on ebay. Not seen either for sale before. Load liner - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Felicia-VW-Caddy-Mk2-Pickup-Original-Option-Load-Liner-/231050357433?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35cbacaab9 Torneau cover and support bars - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Felicia-VW-Caddy-Pickup-Tonnue-Cover-and-Support-Bars-/231050369632?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35cbacda60
  17. I successfully modified and fitted a pair of hatchback sills to my truck. Cut out the bit where the door should go, wallop, pick up sill! Same length as hatch.
  18. There was one for a felly pick up on ebay a year 18 months ago. I seriously considered buying it. It was only the storage when not in use which disuaded me (and my lowered suspension) I think there was a thread on here? Surely a felly one would fit a favorit?
  19. Put a new flywheel on the truck the other week. Whilst I could get to it, I thought I'd put a new crankshaft oil seal on as the original, which had done 160k odd was seeping a little. I bought a new one from GSF. I remember remarking to my Dad how cheap and nasty it looked. Put it on. Put the flywheel, clutch, gearbox, driveshafts etc etc back on .... 4 hours later started it up. P***ing oil like no tomorrow. Not best pleased to say the least! Don't buy a crankshaft seal (Transmission end) from GSF. They are sh1te!
  20. My truck is diesel engined one. My temp guage didn't move much until I put a new thermostat in. For how much a thermostat costs, I'd pop a new one in and see what change happens. It'll probably save you a heap of time.
  21. I have had a look on VAGCAT and the part no for the octavia diesel is the same apart from the last letter it is a B for the octy and a G for the Felly. would I be foolish to seek out a octy one or perhaps one from another VAG car? I've had little luck finding a felly one in Norfolk. Any ideas would be ace. I shall be extracting mine on saturday weather permitting so I can haul mine along to the local scrappys to compare.
  22. I managed to knacker my ring gear today. I need a flywheel with half decent ring gear does anyone have a spare one or just the ring gear possibly?
