  1. Thanks. Is it fairly obvious how the bumper comes off? The lamp unit is loose and sitting back from where it should be. Luckily at much the same level as normal so not dazzling oncoming traffic.
  2. Fkn pheasant smashed my driver side headlight tonight. Is this easy to change out? Where is the cheapest place to buy a genuine light unit? Pre facelift 2013 halogen with washer.
  3. The clutch worked for the dealer so the only explanation the mechanic could think of was that going through the flood had caused the clutch plates to seize together. Being transported or when removing the car from the transporter had caused the clutch to free up. A look around the forum found some Yeti owners with similar clutch issues after driving through water.
  4. It looks like my clutch pressure plate or slave cylinder has failed. Both are a gearbox off job so just as well it's still under warranty! I have a Golf Bluemotion estate courtesy car from Europcar and am waiting for the not so Superb to be collected for delivery to the dealer. I'll update this when I know what the diagnosis is.
  5. I started up the car as usual this morning but I couldn't get it in gear. I pumped the clutch, pressed it down all the way, etc but no go. With the engine off I can select gears no problem. The only thing different from normal yesterday was driving through a flood but it was only about 6-7 inches deep and how could that effect the clutch anyway?
  6. The Bolero unit in my car which makes noises that sound like the CD player is shuffling when the ignition is off. If I turn off the car ignition and stay inside I can hear it and also when I get in the car before I turn on the ignition. What's all that about!
  7. Isn't the extended warranty only available when you buy the car new?
  8. Day 3 and 4 will be long days as well. These are not roads where you can sit at a constant 50-60 mph. There is still a lot of holiday traffic and presumably you'll want to stop for meals, views, etc. If you can average 40 mph while driving you'll be doing well.
  9. I went with Continental ContiSportContact 5 and am delighted with them. http://www.evo.co.uk/features/15659/which-is-the-best-tyre-for-summer-performance-tyre-test/page/0/2 http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/66048/continental-contisportcontact-5
  10. I love my old VFR800 but it's pre Vtec. I tried a couple of Vtec's but didn't like that kick when the extra valves cut in. It's just gimmicky nonsense anyway as one of the bike mags compared pre Vtec and Vtec on the dyno and the only difference was a dip in power before a jump back up on the Vtec. There was no low rev torque advantage or any power advantage. You'll also pay a lot more for your valve clearance check as well. Try both but I'd be looking for a mint low mileage pre Vtec.
  11. The only time I notice the size of the Suberb is when parallel parking but with rear parking sensors it isn't a problem as long as you can find a space long enough! The car is much narrower than others in the same class e.g. Mondeo, Mazda 6, Passat and indeed, and unfortunately, the latest Superb. The turning circle is also surprisingly tight and it is easy to find a comfortable and commanding driving position.
  12. From someone who's partner has a Rapid I'd definately go with the Superb. Hers has the glass roof, lots of toys, 17" alloys, race blue, etc but the Superb has a much better standard of finish, better ride quality and for a growing family, acres of room.
  13. I'd go for the Rapid as the 3 cylinder diesel in the new Fabia is awful. I posted this previously. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/362863-disappointed-with-new-fabia/
  14. Aprillia Falco. you'll get a very low mileage one for your budget. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/aprilia/sl1000-falco/1999/ or a ZZR1400 which handles much better than my previous Blackbird but a few issues on the early ones at the money you're talking.
  15. Indicating right when going straight on at a roundabout. Is this just an Aberdeen area thing? Scares the bejesus out of you if you're in the outside lane going straight on when the car on the inside starts indicating right!
