  1. my car is doing exatly the same thing. only difference is its mega smokey on start up when cold. start it and watch a cloud of bright blue smoke passes the windows for about 10 seconds. mechanis says that the valve guides could be worn and the stem seals are allowing oil to pass through into the cylinders. the car has 145k on the clock

  2. first car corsa c 1,2 sxi lasted 2 weeks before i stuffed it into a field

2000 fiat punto 1.2 base model plug absoutly hated that car blew the gearbox then got shot of it

corsa c 1.4 sri had it 2 years grat little car had it dropped the deck was too thirsty for my ex commute though

2004 fabia vrs got it for said commute 3 years ago and love it too bits dont think ill get rid of it too good a car

  3. I've read a lot of the topics about alternator problems and I'm pretty sure its the alternator itself which is at fault but would like some reassurance before I buy a replacement. Just before I got home christmas day all of the electrics went, leaving me with just the engine running and the side lights so i managed to crawl the short distance left to home. I checked the voltage on the battery, 12v when the engines off and below 12 when running but no warning lights show up on the dash so it sounds like it might be the load sensor wire problem.

Tonight I tried having a closer look at it, all the cables seem in good condition so I turned the engine on and revved up past 3000 and the battery warning light flickers, then check the voltage, and its 13.5v. However within about 30 seconds the voltage has dropped back down to below 12 and no amount of revving can stir it up again. Does anyone think this sounds like a faulty alternator since all the cables look intact? I'm hoping for a 2nd opinion before I try buying a new one.

i just had a very similar problem and it turns out it was the smart charging in the ecu but the ecu is repairable

  4. Thought i should post up about my friends car that i had a drive of last week

Its a 1997 DC2 JDM import Honda Integra Type R in championship white

    The Engine & Gearbox

It is equipped with the B18 vtec engine which revs all the way to 8750RPM and its a fantastic engine it is a little low on torque but has approx 200 to 210 bhp due to being fitted with a aem long arm intake and a full de-cat tanabe exhaust and it sounds epic especially in vtec the pwoer comes in smooth low don the has a kick when the vtec engages. Its all transmitted the the road via a very smooth 5 speed box the car has also had an exedy stage 1 clutch fitted which feels very nice to use. All in all its a great combination but to press on you need to keep the car in vtec.

    Handling & Comfort

The cars handeling is absoutly unbelieveable it is an absoulte joy to drive and feels alive and is fulll of communitaction through the steering wheel and through the seat when pressing on and the grip levels are very high. This has been achived through the fully independant suspension set up and by fitting miester r coilovers and uprated anti roll bars and lower tie bars and front and rear strut braces (the front one is standard equipment on the DC2) and by running ultra lightweight desmond reegamasters and with the toyo r1r tyres. As for comfort it is pretty uncompromising but can be forgiven due to the nature of the car but has been fitted with and upgraded sound system and has air conditioning for when it gets hot (which up in scotland isnt very often)

    Economy

The economy actuallly isnt too bad when you are just driving arond out of vtec but does go through the fule pretty fast when you are in vtec.

    Overall

It is an absoutly fantascic car to drive but needs to be kept in tis vtec powerband to extract the best from this car. It wouldnt be the best daily driver but it would make and exellent weekend driver/trackday car.

Heres a photo taken before the regamasters were fitted

  5. i got toyo px4s on the front of my car which i got with my new wheels and imho they are shocking in the wet but good in the dry by far and away the best tyres ive ever had are the yokohama s.drive tyres epic in the dry and very good in the wet and got 10k out of them. albeit they cost £120 more but id happly sepnd the extra money on them. just my 2p

  6. I'm not usualy a fan of DLR's, a lot look really cheap and 'HellFrauds carpark specials' but yours work quite well. Is there a kit available for them or is it something you knocked up yourself? Would be interesting to see what they look like without all the fancy camera effects?

i got them from autoart they come as a full kit

  7. I actually like DRL's when they're done well. I hate the tiny little blue strips of LED's that seem to crop up on anything and everything including a Black Cab I saw the other day.

I was going to get some for my TT before I sold it. A guy called Wak does a proper conversion with OEM quality LED's and includes a circuit board that dims the DRL when indicating as they would on a brand new TT-S.

What number plate LED's are you using because they are seriously bright! B)

Did you carbon wrap the grill yourself? I've got some of that stuff laying around that I had to do some bits on an old Clio Sport I had. I'd quite like to do the vent surrounds inside. Might have a go at it :)

i got them from autobulbs direct. heres the website for you www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk :)

No i got a guy not too far from me to do it. but ive been toying with the idea of doing the roof and the spoiler myself :)

  8. My friend gove me a loan of his camere so i went out to get some pics of the car.

Its recently had DRL headlights fitted and the tailgate smoothed and the numberplate recess pianted satin black. The job aint great but it was my first time painting the car.

    C&C welcome
