Time flies by! Thanks for the input and guidance. Visited, inspected, bought and collecting next week. Will be 'front to backed' by 'the man with a spanner' shortly after! Definite Haldex strip service, DSG fluid change next year or two. Let the games begin!

Old school experienced geriatric trying not to interfere with the decisions of more knowledgeable offspring...BUT...they're looking at a 170, 4wd, dsg, 2015, 80k. very 'shiny' ..BUT. am I right in thinking that the 'service record' will be through Skoda ELSA if work undertaken by them or any invoices 'in the glovebox'. 1st owner for five years then three! Must be due dsg change now? I have the VIN number TMBME75L8F6059799. Usual paid search worthless. Any ideas...I don't want this to 'end in tears'

Oh well...here goes...and please don't take offence! You say that you're retired and intend keeping the next purchase for 10+ years. I have the old Octavia estate as the workhorse (close on 200k miles and sweet as a nut) DSG!!!! Also the Rapid SE Sport 120ps ...DSG!!!! The Rapid will never be able to do everything that the Octavia does but it's close in comparison to what else was available at that price, quality, reliability, blah, blah. Dimensions are great( lots of rear leg room..if you don't need it then throw gear in there ). As a 'mature person', like myself, I suggest you seriously consider the Rapid AND/OR the DSG box! ;-)

OK...here we go! Now into retirement and feeling 'apprehensive'. I've always been 'into cars' with a list so long it's embarrassing! However....my difficulty...My current car is one previous owner, known previous owner, a friend equally into cars, with all receipts, blah, blah, blah. My business (surveying) and moving foreign students, with typical baggage, will stop. There may be the senile downsizing so I'm looking at an additional vehicle now. Something sensible but can produce a smile. We are primarily 'city' with the occasional high speed venture so DSG keeps the blood pressure down! I've looked at the Fabia but the rear legroom is tight. The latest Rapid Spaceback SE Sport is interesting but only 90bhp with DSG....not exactly 'Sport'! I don't need a new car so I'm thinking about the previous early 2015 Rapid Spaceback SE Sport with the 1.4Tsi engine (old engine, chain/belt?), available with the 7 speed, dry clutch, DSG. I'm aiming for a 'grief free' future so I really would appreciate reality input. ;-)
