  3. Lol! Yeah, just buy that If you only care showing-off while parked, and uploading photos on FB... How can the Monte Carlo be closer to the spirit of vRS having the same front looking as any normal Fabia, and especially such common sub-systems as the 5-speed manual gerabox, drum rear brakes, standard differential (not an XDS one) and most important, such weak motors? Maybe you have misunderstood what the real vRS spirit is all about...

Now I don't say the monte is a bad car, it's a nice looking alternative to the standard fabia, but that's as far as it can get. The vRS is a completely different class and comparing monte's equipment with all the technology and performance the vRS packs is just ridiculous... You bought a monte, fine, no need to prove anything to anyone...

yes you are right, you know more than me about vrs, ihave only owned every type of them sincetheir launch in 2003,and test drove the new one and found it was a car that controlled the driver, rather than the other way round which is why i bought a monte, but then what do i know

  4. Anyone thought of fitting the black arch bits from the Monte to the vRS? Would it fit?

just buy a monte in the first place, then no mods are required,as its already a nicer car than the vrs,but cheaper to run and with a proper gearbox, the car is more in the spirit of the original vrs than the current vrs which looks no different to the base model

  5. :) so you did 530miles is that on a complete full tank?

did you get any factory extras?

virtually a full tank, the fuel light came on just south of lancaster, and it said 25miles of fuel left on the maxi, when i got home, which is not an exact science, but when i filled it up and divided the litreage by 4.5,thats the mpg i got,i found it hard to believe so i did the calc again, cos my previous 1.6 tdi 105 scout, would probably been about upper 40`s,with 13000 on it,its extras are, bluetooth, cruise, met paint, climate, armrest & sparewheel(from my px car)

  6. iv had my monte montecarlo tdi 105 for two weeks and 1700 miles, and has performed brilliantly, with an average consumption of 57mpg.On a long run from morecambe to cromer,265miles,each way, it gave 64mpg,when i refilled on my return. the performance is lively with superb handling, there isno hint of the sluggishness that the previous scout had, which makes me think that the latest engines have been reengineered, there are no rattles or squeeks even on morecambe`s potholed roads. my wife`s tdi 75 monte is very similar, with just a small noticable drop in power when on the move. looking forward to taking it to north wales for the first time next week, where i can put it through its paces on the A470 to ffestiniog, which i know like the back of my hand,so its in line for a bit of a thrash
  7. No engine tweeks just goes well ive the same engine but more comfy suspension, enjoy

its the same engine as i had in the scout, but that engine was sluggish and not very economical, this one is livlier with just 100miles,looking forward to my next trip to ffestiniog, to see what it does "ar fordd betws"a dros y crimea

  8. Good for you mate! Did someone cancel an order hence why you got it early or a dealer ordered car?

dont know to be honest, thedealer said that it was unassigned and that he could grab it if i wanted it,he also gave me more than agreed for my scout,to cover thecost of the climate that i did not want, and he let me keep the spare wheel from my scout,so i went for it

  9. my new montecarlo is fed and watered and is waiting at dealers, the platechange paperwork still not come back, was meant to be today, try again tomorrow. :'(

finally got the monte today, well worth the waiting,it goes a lot better already than my scout in both performance and handling,it seems that there have been tweeks done to the engine judging by the way it drives compared to thescout, its 1.6tdi105,silver with maxidot, climate, bluetooth, cruise and armrest and spare wheel,it was not quite thespec i wanted, but close enough not to have to wait 4 months :rofl:

  10. Am thinking of doing a downsize and quite fancy one of these babys has anyone allready got one me is liking the red one and with 5% vat deal seems like a good time to swap so come on fellow briskodians please can i have your feed back

noticed your car is the 170 vrs,the biggest change youl find as i did when i got rid of mine,is that for the first week you will be trying to get the car into 6th

  11. Am thinking of doing a downsize and quite fancy one of these babys has anyone allready got one me is liking the red one and with 5% vat deal seems like a good time to swap so come on fellow briskodians please can i have your feed back

my wife has a month old one,and we took it on its first reasonable long run this weekend from morecambe to lincoln and back, and it performed magnificantly, getting a lot of attention, the handling and ride,is a lot better than her previous fabia, and quite a lot better than my facelift scout,its1.6 tdi75,and it seems that the tdis leaving the factory gates now have had a lot of tweeking done to them,as none of the characteristics that my 105 scout has, are present any more, its livlier in general and pulls a lot better in the lower power band,as well as giving 60mpg at mway speeds, with 900miles on the clock  im hoping to pick my monte up tomorrow, its the 105tdi,if my plate change paperwork comes back from the wonderful souls at the dvla :giggle:id say get one

  12. @whitelighter cheers for the info :) Balls in there court now so will have to see what they say tomorrow when they look at it.

did you buy your car with solutions or similar,if so, have a word with vw finance as the car is technically theirs, you have more legal protection under the 1979 sale of goods act on a car bought with finance and you could also reject the car right now, because the recent ammendment to this law puts the onus onto the dealer/finance provider to prove that the fault was not there when the car was built/supplied rather than you having to prove that it was, the act says that the unit be of merchantable quality, and fit for purpose, this means free of major faults or build quality for a reasonable period, you would be able to class a turbo as a major defect and reject the car, whereas if it was something like a broken clp on the parcel shelf would not be asignificant defect and so you would need to give the dealer the chance to repair within a resonable time, before rejecting it,but given the delivery time etc for a new car, i would get the car fixed,i was without my car for a month after only 3days with a central locking/alarm fault,i started down the above route then came to a solution with skoda, not the dealer as my contract was with vw finance,i got 2yrs free servicing off skoda, and the admin cost from vw finance,i just asked for a reasonable sum,for the time my car was off the road, and the dealer was happy as i did not need to rope him in, he just got paid for his work, hope this helps

  13. Does anyone know where there is good quality photo of a yellow Monte Carlo on the internet or has anyone got one that they can send me? I have asked Skoda customer services and the local dealer but neither had one.

davidian skoda in morecambe has a yellow vrs with black roof which is vissually similar to the monte with a bit of imagination, its registered ready for its owner,so i dont know how long its going to be in, he also has a red monte and my silver monte in also, hope this helps.i found them to be a lot more helpful than your local dealer

  14. As above its included in the price of the car on the vRS - brochure clearly states 'MDI +cable'.

Most dealers don't seem to be playing this game tho -the cars usually turn up without a cable and dealers are reluctant to supply one out of their own pocket. One call to SUK usually sorts the problem....

Having said that I got my vRS on 1st March and I'm still waiting for my cable, hopefully should arrive this week but who knows.... :wonder:

its the same for the montecarlo,it states in the brochure that its included with the car, the dealer first said the cable is extra, until i showed him the dealer info on the monte that i got given in january, which states that the dealer should make sure that the cable is ordered at the dealer and included in the car on handover, which he accepted, but he said that with the vrs you have to buy one,one was included in my wifes monte,so il remind him again next week when i pick up mine

  15. Can you post your bass/middle/treble settings on your standard Swing/Audio setup?

I find the bass rattles the speakers easily... wonder how you have set yours up

    Cheers

    Dave

i have mine turned up full volume with the mighty quo blasting out paperplane, there is no rattles or squeeks when the reverend rock parfit  is in the groove,or when i am back in wales, edward h dafis, has the same impact

  16. :D Popped into the dealer yesterday,& he informed us that the car has been built & is sitting in a car park in Prague.Only 2-3 week's to wait B) Managed to get him to confirm all the spec as well so hopefully won't have the aggro Louisv6 had.

was told by my dealer yesterday that my monte had arrived on these shores, its a tdi 105,my original order was given build week 33,then my dealer found a spare monte same colour, but withoutthe red seats, and with blutooth n climate extra, so i took that, no point waiting 3 monthsfor just seat colour, and asmy dealer was getting my car in sooner,he gave me more px allowance that covered the extra cost of blue tooth n climate, even better he called tonight to say that my car had come in to the dealership today,so just waiting on my personal plate transfer now,so things can move quickly, hopefully yours will come at the same speed.

  17. If you've missed the boat this time I shouldnt worry too much. Killing the VAT deal will hurt sales, Skoda have to offer big discounts to shift the volume they do thats how they turn a profit, selling many for less. I think its been done purely so they can deal with their overflowing order books as the situation has become rather daft. Give it 6 months it will be back on; though i'll personally be surprised if the Fabia vRS rejoins the deal.

just been told bymy dealer that the fabias will now have 3years free servicing on them and i think a lower rate of vat,i might be able to qualify for the servicing on my monte which is due land on these shores this week. dim ond amser a ddengys

  18. just spoken to the dealer, week 16 build is now finished and currently sitting at the docks in Emden. He is checking daily to see when the ship sets sail and which ship it is on. Rekons it shouldnt be too much longer. B)

told by my dealer today that my montecarlo 105 tdi was built last week, and has been released for shipment at emden,so hopefully only 2 more weeks of waiting, the car is slightly different spec to the onei ordered, got blutooth, which i wasnt bothered about but is only £50 more than maxidot, and it does not have the red seats, but is  better than waiting till sept as my order was build week 33

  19. Hullo all.

I've had my vRS for about a month now, and I'm having some issues with the remote locking.

When trying to unlock the drivers door it is usually fine. When trying to unlock all the doors & the boot, it takes an indefinite number of button presses - sometimes 2, sometimes 8.

Sometimes the windows go down, which I understand is a function. However, they shouldn't go down when/after you lock the car! This has happened a few times - return to the car, front windows half down. Not good for the security/weather of Aberdeen.

Sometimes the remote locking just stops working altogether & I have to lock it using the key. This morning the windows went down & it took a few attempts of buggering around with the key in the ignition to get both of them to close (drivers side closed but passenger wouldnt).

Anyone else experienced this? I'll take it back to the dealers, but would they just check it out on VAG-com?

I'm really enjoying my car, but it's starting to get on my nerves. :dull:

I've had a number of VAG cars so I don't think I'm doing anything too stupid. :smirk:

    Cheers!

i had asimilar problem with my scout,it ended up having to have a new ecu and programmed in directly from the factoryby link up from dealers its fine now,but took best part of a month to sort
