EDIT: Apologies for the large size of the pics guys! I don't know how to adjust them
Hi all,
I've tried a search but I don't think I found anything like this. I'm hopeful that the good people of Briskoda could help diagnose and, if possible, come up with a solution for this.
Please find pics attached of bonnet release mechanism from my 2015 RS TDI and, if you look at the black plastic piece in the middle (below the hook). There's a crack on the right side that's formed that moves quite easily with the lightest touch.
The problem was that when I pulled the lever release for the bonnet one day the whole thing gave way. There was no resistance. Originally I thought it was the cable but, after closing the bonnet and pulling again it opened. So I turned my attention to the mechanism - and noticed it was very stiff - so gave it a spray of WD40 and, while loosening it up, noticed this plastic part.
The problem still exists in that the bonnet still opens and closes, but, I'm worried that this broken piece of plastic could be the cause of the whole mechanism being so loose and might cause the cable to break and hence a locked bonnet!
Anyone any advice on how to fix and whether much work is involved?
Thanks!
Colin
