  1. Hi all, My 2015 Octavia RS with red stitched flat bottom RS steering wheel with green lights has reached a point in its life where it's not only gone shiny but also starting to wear down from 180,000km of use. I've been trying to price up a new genuine wheel but am coming across all sorts of prices in the €400+ range. Does anyone know of a good site that sells wheels for a good price? Also - how much does a dealer charge these days? Will phone one on Monday when they're open but would appreciate your feedback/experiences! Thanks all!
  2. Hi all. As above, I have a manual MKIII VRS 2015 which was built in May 2015. I presume it's MY2015 as unfortunately I just missed out on the move to MIB1.5 and all the toys that come with it. I'm looking at buying a new steering wheel for it as the current one is shiny and, after years of maintenance, worn out due to my insisting on it maintaining that matte look ! Do any of my fellow patrons recommend anywhere in particular for a good price or is it better going to the dealer? I've seen before the dealer can be more competitive. The wheel is the usual - Flat bottomed RS wheel with red stitching and green lit steering wheel controls. No flappy as manual. Thinking that I'll stick on the new one, get the old one refurbished, and either sell it or hold onto as a nice little backup. Thanks all.
  3. Thank you all for the replies. What puzzles me is that I've only had the mount on the dash for less than three weeks. I took it off when I saw the complaints on an Audi forum only to discover I had it myself. I might go down the road of seeing if a little detailer might help as I've only ever cleaned the dashboard with a damp microfibre - might help tint out the circle. I have no doubt the soft foam under the dash has been 'crushed' by the suction cup and the inside 'pulled up' and I wonder is that why the heat of the hair dryer helped me re-shape it that little bit. It bugs the life out of me as it's something that's always in my field of view. Thanks again for the suggestions. Can't believe I did this.
  4. Hi all. I have a ring-shaped mark left on the dashboard after (stupidly) putting a suction mounted phone holder there. I've tried cleaning and I've also tried the hair dryer method read online. The hair dryer did help clear it up a little bit but I'm reluctant to try any more in case I cause damage. Kind of like this example below, but more obvious - Any experts on here who have been able to fix this type of thing? It's the soft touch plastic right in front of the grill in the middle of the dash so it's always visible! Hoping you can help and thanks in advance.
  5. Hey all. Any mention on the 1.6 and 2 ltr TDI engine intervals? Have they finally joined the continent as regards timing belts? Skoda Ireland no doubt will refer me back to a dealer, they of course still insisting on the 5 year rule.
  6. Hi all. Apologies if this has been covered before but I hope you can help. I've recently replaced my rear wiper motor at a Skoda Dealer as I wasn't, at the time, confident enough to tackle it myself. Afterwards, for various reasons (poor re-assembly of tailgate by dealership for one), I learned that I could have gained full access to the motor and have done it myself. Now my father's MK3 Rear Wiper is after packing up and to hell if I'm going near that dealer again and paying 200 for the part alone - When I go through the ebay listings or auto-doc I can't help but notice the images of the motor are identical, only with a very small revision to the part number. I'm ordering a part for the MK3 but can't help but wonder - are they the exact same? Reason I ask is that the MK2 Hatch motor has a lot more manufacturers to choose from than the few for the MK3. Example of MK3 Hatch Motor here: Octavia III Example of MK2 Hatch Motor here: Octavia II Thanks all!
  7. Hi all, My own 2015 RS takes R134a gas - according to the sticker on the bonnet - however my friend's car, a 2016 1.6TDI Elegance - is missing the sticker. The car was built in June 2016 and the manual says nothing about the type of AC gas. Anyone have any similar model? Hopefully it's the 134a as opposed to the far more expensive 1234. Thanks all!
  8. Hey guys. Apologies for reviving such an old topic but hoping you can help. I downloaded 0411 for my MIB1 Columbus + Canton but hoping to clarify a few things before I try it - Is 411 the latest update for Columbus? My current is 0196. Considering this is the CZ version - would I lose the english voice assistant on nav? There's a post a few pages back mentioning having to update details via VCDS afterwards - is this true? I don't have VCDS so could someone explain how to do it via OBDEleven? Thanks for the help as always!
  9. This is really interesting and might make life a little more palatable for us MIB1 users. I see when he plugs in the phone via USB he uses the port of the device as opposed to the OEM USB input - I wonder whether the OEM USB is compatible or not as it's a great location for plugging in the phone.
  10. So update - they wanted to strip the interior trim again to have a look. I told them there's no point as I've already done it and tbh do not want them to cause more damage to my car. They refused to take out the new glass they put in to hoover the glass out directly. Does anyone have any more ideas to stop the glass from moving up and down the sides of the hatch when it's being opened and closed? When I had the trim off I tried hoovering right where the glass meets the body with a nozzle but nothing came out. I've seen on an audi tt forum and seat forum that some people have been able to put some expanding foam at the bottom of their panels to 'catch' the glass that's rattling around. Has anyone does this with their Octy? I just wish I knew where to put it as the hatch appears to have several cavities in it.
  11. Hey Ash! 6-Speed Manual Knob and Leather Boot is available on Skoda Parts but unfortunately they don't seem to have the manual VRS badged one. This is the closest I can find to the trim for the centre vents - seem to come as a unit! Hope this helps. My own gear shift is starting to wear down, too.
  12. Very time consuming. I had the trim off again just there - both the carpet and the plastic that joins up with the brake light - and whatever is going on I cannot get access to any of that glass. No matter how much I open and close the hatch. I did the trick where you put straws at the end of a hoover nozzle and although it didn't work getting any glass out - on the opposite end of the car it got a couple of parking tickets out from between the front windscreen and the dash!
  13. Oh boy. The MIB1 can stay there so! It's a great system, I can't complain. The Columbus still looks modern - just need to live without the joy of Carplay!
  14. I have a Columbus MIB1 with Canton - I'm hoping I can be corrected here but I take it that to upgrade to MIB2 I will also need to upgrade my Canton amp ? Would really like that Apple Carplay/Android Auto experience. Other than that I'm a fan of my setup.
  15. Hi guys. Thank you for your responses. I have removed the trim and taken a look - I reckon I could keep the hatch halfway open from the inside but I don't know where to put the vacuum cleaner - Is there any holes in particular or is it just where the glass makes contact with the metal and hope for the best?
