  1. Hi, hope everyone’s keeping well. Delighted with our new Fabia. In addition to the £99 service plan I extended the warranty to 5 years. We’ve had confirmation of the service plan, but nothing re the warranty. Could anyone who’s purchased the warranty please confirm if they had written confirmation or not. Cheers, Mark
  2. Hi thanks for your replies. There is no service book only the owners manual and Skoda assist booklet. I looked at service information on the infotainment system and it says oil service in 12 months and oil and inspection service in 24 months. Look like it’s set to fixed😀 Cheers, Mark
  3. New car delivered yesterday and absolutely delighted. Looking forward to stretching it’s legs when the lockdown eventually eases 😀
  4. New Car due to be delivered tomorrow 😀 it replaces our fantastic 10 year old Octavia Scout that was written off last month by a complete 🤬 The 110ps engine and boot space which is only 60L less than the Octy really sealed the deal. Just wondering it will be set to fixed or variable servicing? Cheers Mark
  5. H,i thanks for your help. Will definitely be buying the car. It’s a stock car so hopefully should have it in a few days. Just a few more questions. The car has the 16” Alloys, does anyone know which spare wheel kit I need, and will a 16 inch wheel fit in the wheel well? Is it worth going for the mudflaps thanks again, Mark
  6. Spotted a new 110 SE L estate online with the £2.5k finance contribution. Put a holding deposit on it . Have the wekend to think about it😀
  7. Hi, thanks for your replies. Test drove a 95 on Wednesday, which seemed a bit underpowered so it’s definitely a 110 that we’ll be looking for. Nor many available at the right price. Am I right in thinking that all the mk3 Fabias have a manual hand brake rather than an EPB? Mark
  8. Hi thanks for your reply im with SAGA, I suspect most insurance companies have a similar clause. Very annoying, the Scout was such a good car it will be hard to replace. Mark
  9. Hi hope everyone’s keeping well. Our Octy Scout has unfortunately been written off following a nasty bump. Fortunately no injuries. The insurance company have offered a very good settlement figure, which we have accepted. If we don’t get another car within 30 days they intend to cancel the policy. This may be difficult due to the rapidly changing Crisis. Just wondering if the insurance company cancelling would cause problems for us in the future? If we don’t manage to get a replacement in time would it better for us to cancel the policy. Thanks, Mark
  10. Hi hope everyone is keeping well. Our trusty old Octy Scout was written off by a complete (expletive) a couple of weeks ago. As we don’t need anything quite as big, but would miss the boot space we’re considering a fabia estate. Just wondering how reliable the small engines are and which is the best to go for, and if there is anything else we should look out for? Probably looking for one around 2 years old with some warranty remaining. Thanks, Mark
  11. Hi, Thanks for your help. It’s a bit of a nightmare. I’m waiting for the insurance company to get back to me. Hopefully they won’t write it off as it’s only done 40k. Will definitely buy it back from them if they do. Cheers, Mark
  12. Hi hope everyone’s keeping well. After a bit of a nasty bump, that thankfully didn’t result in any injuries I’m trying to source front and rear bumpers, valences and bits of trim. My Scout is the facelift MK2. Does anyone know if parts from a mk2 estate are compatible. Ive searched for part numbers on various online parts catalogues but they don’t seem to recognise my VIN. Thanks, Mark
  13. All the major retailers use good quality additives in all their fuels. The super fuels have either a bigger dose or an even better formulation. It’s hard to give a definitive answer as to which brand is best as formulations do change as technology moves on. At the moment I’m using V-power diesel in the Octavia and V-power super unleaded in the Fpace, I have used BP fuels in the past. On occasion I have been known to Tesco Momentum - this is supplied but Greenenergy and has a decent additive package. IIRC independent testing showed slightly less cleaning than V-power, but slightly more power (on cars that can adjust ignition timing) Hope this helps. Mark.
  14. I worked in the fuel additives industry a few years ago. We ran many field test vehicles to validate our formulations. A good additive package makes a huge difference, especially for keeping injectors and inlet valves clean. Not all additives are the same, the biggest problem and hence cost is the development of heat stable detergents. The dose is important too some fuels have a keep clean dose, others (premium fuels) have a clean up dose.
  15. For the PD SKODA recommend 4 years/40k miles. I bought a genuine cambelt kit with waterpump and coolant from vwnewark on eBay for £142 and had my trusted indie fit it. If you do get it sorted make sure they set the torsion value at 0 Mark
  16. Could you get a Stainless system fabricated? A bit far for you, but in my neck of the woods Tony Banks in Leeds comes highly recommend. Mark
  17. Some useful info here https://www.haldexrepairs.co.uk/shop/filters/generation-gen-4-filter-kit-vw-audi-seat-skoda/
  18. Make sure the Haldex filter has been changed. Skoda don’t even show it on their parts diagram. Attached is a photo of my Scouts filter at 8 years old and approx 35k miles. The Haldex was serviced by main dealer at 4 years.
