  1. I’ve had Goodyear all seasons on several cars including my old Octavia scout, SLK230 and Auris hybrid. I’ve been delighted with the cold and wet weather performance. Personally I would match all 4 tyres if possible, the problem with the 16” Fabia tyres is that it’s a very expensive size. A while ago I priced up a set of 15” steels with cross climates for my Fabia - they were about the same price as just the 16” tyres A good midrange 16” summer tyre is the Khumo HS51 or 52. They are around half the price of the all seasons. Mark
  2. I’ve had a nightmare with keyfob batteries for the Fabia - even major brands. Now I always test the new battery before changing. This has been a godsend Ansmann Alkaline Button Cell & L...Ansmann Alkaline Button Cell & Lithium Coin Battery TesterSome of the new batteries were nearly dead. Mark.
  3. If you paid on credit card you could try a section 75 claim with your credit card company. Earlier this year I successfully claimed the repair cost from ATS, after they stripped the threads of the wheel bolts, on my Merc. Mark
  4. For a while I’ve been getting an occasional metallic clonk from the rear of the Fabia. Worst on right hand turns but sometimes over potholes I was convinced I had a broken spring. Local mechanic put it on the ramp and found a big lump of gravel in the spring cup. Thankfully a cheap fix 😀
  5. usually have tyres delivered to my local garage for fitting, but couldn’t get the Asymmetric 6’s for the SL delivered for anywhere near the ATS fitted price. Really wish I had followed my gut instinct and paid the extra. ATS managed to strip 6 of the wheel bolts claiming previous damage! The last time the wheels were off was at the service at my indie back in August. Reckon I’d have lost the wheels by then. Gingerly drove it to my indie and they were able to retap the threads and supply new wheel bolts. A complaint to ATS got the standard denial so I submitted a section 75 claim with my credit card, and this morning had confirmation that my claim was successful.
  6. Take a look on the tyre reviews website 😀
  7. The Khumo Estca hs51 and hs52 are very good tyres for the price. We have the HS51 on the Fabia and a relative has the later version on this Peugeot partner and we’re delighted with them. Unfortunately the 16 inch tyres are a relative rare size, hence expensive. Out of interest I priced up replacing the wheels and tyres (with steel 15”wheels and cross climates) and they worked out the same price as just replacing the 16” tyres.
  8. It’s probably worth getting the battery tested or at least charged on a smart charger. If the problem continues it’s probably worth getting a diagnostic scan. Mark
  9. Don’t forget to change the hidden filter in the Haldex, in their wisdom Skoda don’t include it on the parts diagram.
  10. Our 110tsi 6 speed manual has the same “problem” being used to the torque of a pd diesel I was very surprised that I would need to drop to 1st when merging on to roundabouts. My other motors have 3.0 v6 engines so loads of low speed torque 😀 they’ll never get to the 62mpg that Fabia did on our airport run🤪
  11. Check the date stamp on the tyres, if they are 15 years old I would seriously consider changing them. Mark.
  12. There are companies that offer to clean the DPF which may be an option. Mark
  13. You really need a scan with VCDS which will give you the soot and ash content of the DPF and should highlight any problems with the DPF pressure sensors. At around 155k it’s likely that the DPF is at the end of its service life. Mark
  14. You could try rebooting the unit by pressing the volume button for around 10 seconds. You will have to pair your phone again and will probably loose other settings. Mark
