Buying a Mk3 - Impossible specification?
Thanks EYR - I'll drop you a line once the car's out of warranty.

Buying a Mk3 - Impossible specification?
Thanks all for the replies. logiclee is correct in that it is the smell of leather which is a problem for me (well, one of my offspring) rather than the heat retaining properties (although that is a consideration - I don't really like it myself for that reason, ventilated seats would be a resolution but I would still prefer cloth overall - why oh why can't we have velour). I shall drop East Yorkshire Retrofits a message - but I have had it direct from Skoda customer services that it can't be done. Would be interesting to hear that over ruled - it may just be a "computer says no" answer, so worth investigating. One issue is that I live a long way from East Yorkshire.

Buying a Mk3 - Impossible specification?
Yes decent idea, I'd still be stuck with leather though - one of my family gets travel sickness triggered by the smell of leather. I think even the amount of leather in the Sportline Plus would do it, sadly.

Buying a Mk3 - Impossible specification?
Ah, thanks. I should have clarified that I'll be after getting a 2023 or very early 2024 car from a main dealer, so 2016 is too old for me.

Buying a Mk3 - Impossible specification?
I already have a Mk3 1.5TSI DSG SE (72 plate), which I've owned for a year and have really taken to. But it has one feature missing which would make it the complete car for me. Adaptive Cruise. I'd never tried a car with this feature before I bought mine, so thought I wouldn't miss it. However, I've subsequently driven another car which has it, and I really, really love the feature. I have investigated adding it aftermarket, and it's a no-go. So, I'm thinking about finding a Mk3 Superb with Adaptive Cruise in about a year's time, once I'm 2 years into my current PCP. I don't want a Mk4 - I want to stay this side of the 2024 driving aid safety nonsense. But. I hate leather interiors, and I hate big wheels. I like the cloth and the 17" wheels on my SE, and looking at adverts for used cars in SE L, SE Technology, Sportline and L&K trims, they all have bigger wheels, and crucially leather interiors. I could live with the suede like material in the Sportline, but I don't like the 19" wheels, as I favour ride comfort over looks and handling. I could maybe live with 18" wheels, but would rather not (ride, looks, and less kerb-scraping possibilities). Am I correct that I'll be unable to find a car equipped with Adaptive Cruise, but with cloth seats and 17" wheels? or is there some way of obtaining this magical combination I haven't discovered? Thanks for any thoughts!

Which gearbox?
Thanks, Pete. So, no service interval? Hmm. I think I might consider an oil and filter (if it has the latter?) change sometime in any case, maybe 50k miles, or 5 years.

Which gearbox?
Hi folks, I'm wondering what kind of gearbox is in my 2022 1.5TSI DSG Superb now. I have a VIN decoder which states "Transmission Code UYV" and "G1C 7-speed automatic transmission". Reg number is GK72OWJ. Is this a DQ200, and if so is that Service Schedule on page 1 of this thread right, and there's no service interval for it? Cheers!

Automatic adjustments for driving in Europe?
Answer back from Skoda, my car (2023 MY SE) does need beam deflectors: "Thank you for your ongoing patience as I investigate whether your vehicle needs beam deflectors for traveling in Europe. Our technical team has confirmed that your vehicle does indeed require beam deflectors when driving in Europe. To ensure you get the perfect fit, I strongly recommend visiting your nearest Škoda retailer. You can easily locate the closest retailer by entering your postcode on this link: [link removed]. Their expertise will ensure you have the right beam deflectors for a safe and compliant journey. I hope this information proves useful. Should you require any further assistance, please contact us at the details below." Starting to think I should have held out for an SE L or an SE Technology when I bought it. Oh well, Captain Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Automatic adjustments for driving in Europe?
Thanks, logiclee. I am suspecting I'll need to fit them then, I hope the pack I buy has a template showing where to put them... I emailed Skoda customer service with the question. To their credit, they responded within 24 hours. To their detriment, I don't think I've been given the right answer. Here is what they said: "Thank you for contacting Škoda UK regarding the use of beam deflectors for your vehicle in Europe. I'm pleased to inform you that your Škoda's headlights are designed to automatically adjust based on your location, eliminating the need for beam deflectors. This advanced feature ensures optimal visibility and safety while driving across different regions. You can find detailed information in your owner's manual under the Lighting, windscreen wipers and washers section., accessible here by entering your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on this link: (link removed). I hope the information I provided was helpful, and if I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me on the details below. I will proceed and close the case, as there are no further actions required from me at the moment. Following the case closure, you may also receive a survey that is focused on my performance only. I would be very grateful if you could take the time to complete this as it will enable me to ensure I am providing the best customer service." I've looked in the manual at the link provided, and it states: Adjust headlights for driving in right / left-hand traffic Applies to headlights with adaptive functions. In Infotainment, select the following menu: (icons removed) Or: (icons removed) Activate the travel mode function. Inevitably, "Travel Mode" is not available in my menu, demonstrating that the answer from Skoda is incorrect and my headlights have no Adaptive Function - other than auto-dip for oncoming traffic etc. or I have partially adaptive headlights, or something...grrrr. I've replied to them to verify and await an answer. It really shouldn't be this hard.

Automatic adjustments for driving in Europe?
Have just purchased a VIN decoder for my car, and it seems to confirm I haven't got Matrix lights - just plain LED. So the question is are the beams on this type of headlight flat enough not to need deflectors, or will I need to fit beam deflectors?
-
Automatic adjustments for driving in Europe?
Hang on, just thinking about this a bit more...perhaps I don't have Matrix lights, but just standard LED? I do have "Light Assist" in the menu, i.e. when on main beam the car detects oncoming traffic etc and dips the beam, once I've activated this by pushing the light stalk back (little A appears in the dashboard beam light), but no option to adjust for right hand roads. I've tried to RTFM, but of course the manual is generic and covers all models, so it doesn't tell me what my specific car does and doesn't have. Anyway, question remains - do I need physical beam deflectors for continental driving?
-
Automatic adjustments for driving in Europe?
I have a 2023 SE (no L, no Tech, just plan SE) spec Superb. It does not have GPS or Nav installed, therefore the car doesn't know where it is, so cannot auto change the beam to suit right hand side of the road driving. It is equipped with standard headlights, which I think are called LED Matrix. I have looked in the infotainment menus under "Lights" and there is no manual adjustment option for driving on the right in Europe. So my question is, does anyone please know if this type of headlight is suitable for driving on both the left and the right, without need to have physical diverters/beam adjusters fitted to the lenses?

Tailgate glass seal
Just noticed the same issue on mine. A 2022 (72) plate, purchased Approved Used last August. I expect I'd get the same answer if I asked for it to be rectified under warranty. I wonder how this happened? It's slightly concerning as I don't want it getting worse and letting water into the car. Wonder if I can superglue a bit of rubber from elsewhere into the hole... What an extraordinary thing that the entire glass needs replacing for a cheap rubber seal.

Compass Currently Unavailable
Thanks Nick, perils of the newbie. So no ideas on how to "freeze" the binnacle screen to one display and stop changing to other displays when Android Auto Google Maps starts up?
-
Compass Currently Unavailable
And, yeah, I probably mean SE Tech rather than SE L, above - SE L is an older spec designation, I think. Mine is a plain SE, no Tech, hence no SatNav.
-
Compass Currently Unavailable
Apologies for typos, apostrophe abuses, grammatical and punctuation errors etc, I didn't know there is no edit feature on this board. I'll try to be more careful in future.

Compass Currently Unavailable
Yep, no SatNav. It's a 2022 "SE" spec. It's not the lowest spec I don't think, that would be "S" I reckon. I think you had to go up to "SE L" spec to get SatNav, from what the dealer who sold it to me said (Citygate Skoda Slough). I asked him at the time if the headunit can be upgraded to have the SatNav software installed, the answer cam back "no" I don't care though, Android Auto does the job for me. But as it doesn't have the SatNav, I'd like it not to tell me about the compass not being available when I start Android Auto, thereby removing the speedo from my display. I don't know what the headunit model is called and I don't know how to find out. There is no info in my handbook to tell me, either. It's just generic waffle. I also don't know what MFD and Virtual Cockpit are, but I do know the display on the binnacle behind the steering wheel changes without me asking it to change, if that tells you the answer. I'm a beginner with these cars, and don't know any of the above jargon associated with them I'm afraid. I haven't driven a VAG since I had a 2008 VW Touran years ago, and things have moved on a bit since then.

Compass Currently Unavailable
Yes, thanks Superb, I know the compass is currently unavailable. It will always be unavailable, as you do not have a Satnav system installed. Allow me to explain. I have recently bought a 2022, 72 reg Superb 1.5 TSI DSG SE. It has Android Auto, but it does not have SatNav installed in the infotainment system. So, when I connect my phone, the in-car screen in the middle of the dash replicates it and shows the Google Maps view, as intended and as is right. However, my binnacle display behind the steering wheel rather unhelpfully then tells me the compass is currently unavailable, and by doing so removes the somewhat important speedo view. I have to press a steering wheel button (the one in the bottom right) in order to cycle the display. At that point it first shows me a rudimentary black and white satnav route map, and only by pressing it again does it return me to the speedo display. I do not wish to ever see this message about the compass again, and I do not wish the binnacle display ever to change from the speedo view. The question, therefore, is - how do I do that? I have been into the "Vehicle" menu on the infotainment screen, and selected the speedo view, instead of "Auto", from the list of options. This, however, does not seem to prevent the binnacle display doing it's thing and changing my selected and desired view. I am otherwise delighted with the car, however this stupidity is driving me around the bend. I want my speedo there, always, and I do not want unnecessary, unrequested and utterly pointless information displayed in its place. Does anyone here please know how to prevent the compass message appearing, and also how to tell the car that I never want it to change the binnacle screen from the speedo readout until such time as I tell it to change myself? Thanks for any solutions!

Opinions on Superb 1.5 DSG
Hi All, I'm off to test drive a lightly used Superb 1.5 TSI DSG on Saturday, a 2022 (72) reg with 7k miles on the clock. Very much looking forward to it. Are any of the posters above from 4 years ago still about, and do they still own their cars? Can anyone share any longer term ownership experiences please? Would be great to hear any hints and tips, things to look out for, and any reliability/dealer issues encountered. Dismayed to see reports above of only one umbrella! The humanity. 😉 Cheers!

PHEV hatchback internal boot measurments
Yeah I found the capacity easily enough, I wasn't asking for that. It was specific measurements of the length, width and depth I couldn't find. But thanks for the patronising tone. Maybe a minute more reading what I actually asked. Many thanks vegarz, that's very kind of you and very helpful. 👍

PHEV hatchback internal boot measurments
Hello ladies and gents. I'm currently starting a search to buy a Superb, and haven't yet decided on petrol or PHEV, hatch or estate. One important piece of information I just can't find anywhere is the internal measurements of the boot space, seats up, on the PHEV hatch. This is important to me as I need to check if my dog crate will fit. There aren't any on sale close to where I live currently so I can't just drop by a dealer with a tape measure. Does anyone please have the measurements to hand? By which I mean length, width and height, particularly boot floor to parcel shelf and rear seat top to rear window. Many thanks in advance for any help, with these details I can either rule the PHEV hatch in or out.
