  1. Have you collected and are you happy? My build week has been confirmed as 8th September. Hoping to get the call from dealer around 10th October?
  2. Interesting thread, a few points:- 1. If we leave the EU without a deal we will observe WTO rules and that would add a 10% Tariff to the cars imported. 2. For this reason I had the Dealer write on the order form that I can cancel and get my deposit back if tariffs increase the price. 3. Without this clause the 10% is payable, it is a duty/tax and out of the control of Skoda - hence why I wanted the opt out clause. 4. I ordered my vRS on 6th August 2019 and received a confirmed build date of W/C 8th September 2019 - on 23rd August 2019. 5. Assuming a month from build week to delivery week I should take ownership around 10th October 2019, or in that week anyway. 6. I'm guessing that, if Skoda are clever, they will push through the UK orders as quickly as they can - not wanting the 10% tariff increase to drop orders. My spec. TSi Hatch vRS Octy, Race Blue, Sunroof, Heated Seats, DCC and Towbar I'm staggered how some above have been waiting so long - and still don't have build dates!!??
  3. Sorry, I think you've misunderstood me. From the date of build week, how long before you took delivery?
  4. Challenge heavier with everything added on?
  5. Ordered my new Octavia vRS a couple of weeks ago with them - good deal, pleasant laid back experience. Had one weekly update, another expected tomorrow. Hoping the car arrives on UK soil before Brexit and the 10% tariff which would be applied if no deal.
  6. They let me take out a Superb 272 and a vRS Octavia 245 - on my own, with petrol in the tanks. I decided to buy a 245 vRS - although the Superb was stunning - and wanted desperately to put the new business their way. Sadly they weren't even in the same ball park as other Dealers on the price - knocking £300 off .... meaning they were £1,000's away from the deal I did with another Dealer who hadn't offered me the same hospitality. Shame, but as the salesman said, they deal with the retired and selling the small cars ... they're not really interested in matching prices when they don't have to. Great experience though and thanks for the unpressured test drives!
  7. Thanks all .... I won't lose any sleep over the lack of it. Oil temp and Water temp would be useful ... will that be there out the box or needs coding in? This coding stuff, I don't want to open a can of worms, but it seems to me that you can 'unlock' certain features given the right tool - is that right? Reminds me of, a good few years ago now, the suggestion that Cannon made all their DSLR Cameras to be the top of the range models ... they simply disable features as the camera is moved down the price points!
  8. On You tube I've occasionally seen on the central display three electronic dials measuring certain engine conditions, like Boost, etc. Is this standard on a vRS 245 new - anyone know?
  9. Drive the Deal .... had the best prices I found. Dealers claim that they can't buy the cars at the prices DtD are offering ... yet they are the same Dealers who are offering the prices! You just hold your ground and place the price you will buy on the table ... don't talk extras until the car price is agreed.
  10. I think that the tensioner issue dates back to 2004? One would assume that the designers had learnt their lessons and avoided a repeat. A big advantage of buying one of the last cars off the MK3 production line is that most troubles and issues will have been corrected on the line. And that's exactly what I have done - petrol - with my own options rather than the Challenge options (most of which I wouldn't choose anyway).
  11. The MK4 will be a single headlight, but a vRS (if there is one) will be at least 18 months away. The front end has grown on me - I saw a Race Blue hatch new and it's a cracking looking car IMO.
  12. Winchester wanted a £145 Admin Fee!! Sorry, I don't engage in crap like that ..... oddly enough Garland nothing about an Admin. fee?
  13. Thanks for the kind offer. I'm buying from a Dealer in Aldershot. Do you have 18" wheels?
  14. What date did you order and what date did they start the build? Cheers.
  15. Got a build week of 8th September 2019. I'm guessing a month from build to my drive? That will escape any Brexit Tariffs .... let's hope!
  16. Mine will be Race Blue so not too sure at all when I heard that was a MY20 change. That said I have the black glass sunroof so it may flow better ... I'll wait and see, should be cheap to colour code.
  17. I have a build date (provisional) of 8th September 2019 .... what date could I expect a call from my dealer saying I can collect?
  18. There's a tatty one with Marshalls, Reading - white - only 3000 miles but looks like it's been used as a builders van!! Know anything about that one?
  19. Reference ex-demo stock - I seriously thought about this route, but .... It will have been thrashed from day 1 and from 10 miles - I keep my cars 10 miles and those latter years reliability, I believe, is down to the early miles. Ordering new you get the spec you want - I've never seen cars which vary in spec so much (I'm a Japanese car lover and you buy a spec and they're mostly the same, with lots of kit). I couldn't find the spec I wanted .... DCC, Sunroof, Towbar, Heated Seats, Race Blue .... yes, the towbar can be retro fitted by a Skoda dealer at a cost of around £1000 - £570 to be fitted at the factory. All in all, when you weigh everything up, buying new was the best value and - pretty much - the same price as an ex-demo/ex-Skoda car!
  20. I think it comes into play if the supplier breaks their part of the contract and won't pay back the amount paid via Credit Card? There are 2 order forms - both carry the over-rider which I wanted be there that my deposit is safe if I cancel because of an Import Duty increase. I am very well versed in my legal position, having won in the Courts many times, I'm as secure as I can be ..... the 'spirit' of the contract is that whatever Brexit throws at me I can cancel. In addition, I have an e-mail from the Dealer assuring me of the deposit security in such an event. The sad part is not getting the car I ordered of course - but maybe that's fate and I'll go get a used 272 Superb instead?
  21. Thanks for your comments. Sunroof is just a nice thing to have IMO, especially when it's hot and the hot air can be drawn out quickly before the air con kicks in fully. It lightens the interior too. DCC - well, I'm not too sure - on 18" rims it 'should' give an even softer ride in comfort mode I'm thinking? Race Blue always seemed to match the spirit of the car to my mind. Not many taxi's in Race Blue
  22. I've just been through this - bought a new vRS Octavia. 10% will be the tariff is no deal - I got the dealer to write on the order form that I would get my deposit (£1000) back if I cancelled due to Import Taxes. I can only hope that I have my deposit secured ..... I also paid on Credit Card, so would be covered there if it all went wrong. It is a concern though ............... I'm in for the ride!
