Guys what are the costs of having the dpf taken off and remap on a pd vrs ? and do you think its worth it ? are they then better on mpg?
-
You'll probably get around 30mpg from the (TSI)petrol under those circumstances.
I wouldn't buy a diesel with your usage because of the DPF issues.
I have been reading of these dpf issues ? dont wish to start another thread on that but are they that common and from a standard car or just a remapped one ?

Thanks guys some really good replies, the wife has a 8 miles commute, only one part of it is a 3 mile bypass the rest is rush hour stop starts, and unless we are away visting anyone it will be all local start stop trips, from my experience too it seems you need to do a lengthy journey to get the best out of a diesel - then its the toss up for the extra 1500-2000 ( which it seems ) for a simialr age spec car, hhhmmmmm decisions decisions.......

Hey Guys, not been on here for a while, I am soon going to be in the market for a new car and after enjoying my mk1 ocy vrs I am seriously looking at the mk 2 VRS version now, just wanted some "real world" figures of peoples mpg's, in both the petrol and diesel versions, averages, how much you get on so much fuel etc etc, both are possibles for me so this may help me decide ..........
The car would be a main family car and used for commuting not great distances tho.
cheers

Still really like the look and sound of your car James. I was hoping to come and view it, but with the weather as it is and still having much to do before Xmas I'm going to have to leave it for a while. If the car is still available after Xmas I may try to arrange something.
Hi Pete,
Thats not a problem, the weather here is not very good at all Have a good xmas and may catch you after.

Hi, my friend at work has a 1.8T 225 audi tt,
She has taken her car to the garage today after having a very loud tapping noise from the engine, this has become worse over some time. The garage have told her its something Hydraulic to do with the Cmas ? Im geussing Hydraulic Tappets ? sorry there is not much of a description, she is a bit dizzy bless her and this is all she could remember! They have quoted £400 for parts to fix unsure of labour on top, Does this seem a right price for the said parts ( if it is them?) she is just a bit worried and wanted to find out if this is a common problem ? I asssume if it is the vRS would also suffer ?
Any feedback would be great
Cheers

This is quite a good site but requires some navigation. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyres_For/Skoda/Octavia-vRS.htm
Excellent site - cheers, falkens above the toyo's ?! maybe people are basing that on the cost difference also not at this price
-
My local place is doing me 2 T1-R's 205/45/16 fully fitted for £150 all in
£300 is what about they will cost me incl getting them fitted give or take a few pounds ! are you happy with yours ?
-
will these toyo's last less due to being such high performance ? looked on toyos website http://www.toyo.co.uk/productdetail.php?identity=products&product_id=2 these are their top road legal performance tyre going by the write up.
-
Arnt the t1r a full on track tyre? Dont think i'd fancy them on the road in the rain! I have just got pilot sport 3's from camskill. They are tops and rate highly in tyrereview. Camskill are one of if not the cheapest place for good tyres.
Ill check that ! maybe why they are so cheap...........
-
sounds good ! have you tried the falkens ? think it works out bowt £100 dearer for the toyo's ?

Hi All,
Currently looking at a set of 4 tyres for the vRS, either 205/50/17 or the 225/45/17, found this offer currently on with cam skill ! anyone used these ? http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m54b0s16p1697
I was about to go for 4 Falken 452's in the 205/50/17 as I can get them for a very good price also ! but am tempted with these.........
