  1. And it's sorted itself after two and a half days of whinging at me with the error - back up to 8500KM range with no error yesterday evening. It may have been a reset similar to the post-fill 30 second ignition wait that did it? Basically I had a ladder on the racks yesterday evening and before I set off I wanted to check the straps. As it was a warm afternoon I turned on the ignition and lowered the windows first so the car would be a bit more comfortable. Thing is I left the ignition on for the minute or two that I was checking the straps so maybe that did it?
  2. I've had a front bearing replaced in the last couple of months...no questions asked just had to call one day for them to diagnose and another to get it done once they got the part in.
  3. Gah...yesterday morning I had 8000KM adblue range...a few KM later I get an alarm to tell me "Error: AdBlue (DEF). No engine start in 1000 km". There is no top up advice, i.e. min/max litres, being given - I wouldn't expect it to be ready for a top up so it looks like it's not the level sensors. I rang the dealer as it's also due a service and they were inclined to have me call Skoda assistance to get it brought in and a loan car issued. Given that the nearest dealer would not be my preference and I've to collect a ladder later meaning I need my roof bars I've stalled on this for the moment. They've still booked me in for a couple of days as a priority case and didn't seem all that surprised to hear of the issue.
  4. Quick one on adblue issues. Let it runn low...650km to no start...I wasn't bothered about letting it down as I've a forecourt down the road with a pump so waited until I was going that way. Anyway I filled it up until the pump stopped...all detected fine and 14500km range reported until about 50km further down the road I get a warning about 1000km to no start! This was a Saturday on my way across the country to my folks. The car continued to report this issue when driving a couple of times on Saturday and when starting my journey back Sunday evening. Not far from home I flick through the maxidot and it's back to 14500km! Car has been in for a service in the interim and I told them about the issue...seemingly they found no faults recorded or anything amiss. That was early December and it's been fine since.
  5. Well I got an answer from Skoda...apparently done on purpose for economy reasons...
  6. Should it not have detected the full reduction in pressure when the wheel was flat initially? AFAIK it works off rotational speed of the wheel which would have been well off.
  7. I had a flat this evening when I came out of the office which I didn't cop for a couple of hundred yards. The tyre pressure sensors did not pick it up at all! I changed to the spare and headed for home. Approximately 5km later it decides to let me know there's an issue with the offending wheel. Not impressed.
  8. Yeah I think it maintains all settings if economy mode is selected - must double check that later.
  9. Well they did call this morning and the other car is behaving exactly the same. They're going to put the question to Skoda to see what the response is.
  10. They are supposed to check another car with drive mode selection today as it wasn't around yesterday to see if it behaves behaves the same. Surprise surprise, today's follow up call hasn't happened so far.
  11. Grrr... Just had it in the dealer & mechanic says he thinks it's "the way it's supposed to work" despite everything on the main display including the info (when in mode selection tells you what each item is set to) saying that full sport mode is on (including drive) but maxidot and actual driving confirming it's not...
  12. Don't have DCC. Basically I set the drive mode to sport for journey A and when I later start the car for journey B the Columbus, and the button beside the gear handle, says sport mode is on but the maxidot shows it's in normal mode which driving quickly confirms. If it can remember the setting (as shown by the Columbus & button) then why not apply to the engine/gearbox? What is the point in resetting part of something the driver has decided to change?
  13. My preference and expectation though is if I walk away from a car in sport mode and it decides to recognise that sport mode is on when you restart then it should be all settings.
  14. I've been playing around with the drive mode and have found sport to be good for twisty bits - I usually just pull back on the gear selector. Last night I went through the menu and selected sport proper for a long section and, as I was doing some more this morning, left it on. However, despite the Columbus indicating sport mode had been selected the gearbox/engine were in normal mode - Dx indicated in maxidot and definitely not sport mode performance! It seems that once the key had been removed and the car restarted this it's the case? Anyone notice this? Is it an issue? I would have assumed that all relevant setting would stay based on the mode selected?
  15. When I placed my order (mid November) it was apparently iffy as to whether I'd get my selection of Pegasus 18" wheels. I also wanted beige leather but had to settle for black as there was no chance of getting an order onto the system with the beige.
  16. Well it was originally a split the cost deal but then there was a mix up and delay on the order for the bars so they absorbed the full cost.
  17. Photos of test fitting oem bars in case anyone's interested.
  18. I've got a set of oem bars at home - haven't had a chance to put then on yet.
  19. A couple of shots I took when I was collecting it from the detailer last night.
  20. I've recently moved from a manual 150 to a DSG 190 and it's been quite good so far and getting better as I learn more about the gearbox. The 190 engine is far superior...the extra makes a huge difference imho. I could always find the flat spots in the 150.
  21. There is a limit imposed by android auto for safety apparently. I think the app designers are expected to try and work within this.
  22. Is carplay limited like android auto to a specific number of actions? I was hoping to use it for spotify but it has a limit built in which prevents scrolling through a long list (i.e.albums) and this renders it useless?
  23. So my new car was collected on Friday...190 dsg estate, style, in red...It's been turning heads all weekend... It's replaced an octavia you 150 and is quite simply a major upgrade. The leather seats, sound system (standard btw), space and general comfort are great. The mrs has stated she's more impressed than she thought she would be - l think she was figuring on a slight improvement over the octavia but it's exceeded her expectations. The gearbox has been the hardest adjustment for me...I'm still getting used to the dsg...have spent many years with various cars, trucks and tractors all manual so it's a bit strange. I am getting there though and can see it's uses - I'm still inclined to go for the gears when coming to a junction though. I got the drive mode and paddles as extras but didn't do much with them yet as I'm trying to be good for the first few hundred km.
