  1. I have just had my first service at 22,000 miles on a 2.0 tdi 170 with DSG. All well except my query on fuel gauge reading, this resulted in Skoda authorising a drain and measure of the diesel when the low fuel light came on, around 9 litres according to the handbook. The dealer measure 9 litres so said no recalibration was needed. I immediately filled the tank to the brim and only got 47 litres in, 47+9=56! Skoda now tell the dealer that even when the tank shows empty on the guage and miles to go is zero there is still around 4 litres left in the tank. The most I have ever been able to fill the tank with is 51 litres and that was with 5 miles to go. I seemed to remember a long while ago talk on this forum of tank sizes, and how Skoda could Have made the tank larger. Any comments or other similar experiences? The average MPG figures are regularly 3-4 mpg over what is actually achieved.

I just wanted to comment on the 3-4 mpg - I used to drive a Superb 1, and had the same issue. The functionality of the trip computer looked great, but the figures delivered were unreliable, and 2 dealers just shrugged their shoulders at this.

I now drive a Jaguar X-Type (I would have liked a Skoda but the company restricted the range of cars), less functionality on the trip computer, but it is extremely accurate!

  2. My car has consistently returned the same consumption - around 48mpg - on Continental SportsContact 2 tyres. One word of caution - the trip computer is very inaccurate. I measure the mpg by recoding the mileage and the amount to fill the tank when I refuel - this is the accurate way and gives me consistently 48mpgish.

The trip computer consistently claims 52-53mpg. Anyone else see this degree of error???

  3. I don't have headlamp washers (Comfort) but still I need to fill the washers quite frequently. Compared to my previous cars, I find the Superb sprays a very generous amount of water onto the windscreen - although this does mean the windscreen cleans very well

  4. Just had the ECU for the reversing sensors replaced on my superb but it has not solved the problem. Sometimes the sensors work, sometimes I get the long beep (indicating that they will not work) and sometimes I get nothing - which usually means they just will not work at all.

Interesting though - every parking manoevre is a new adventure.....

  5. On the basis of the car I would buy without hesitation. But with my experience of Skoda dealerships so far, unless I find a better one, I'll buy something else.

I drive a Superb, and it is what is says on the bootlid. Good build quality, fantastic value and gets great comment from everyone who travels in it (including any work colleagues who have borrowed it and driven it).

But I had difficulty finding a dealer who could advise me about headlamp adjustment for European driving and got better advice from a pimply youth at Halfords (no offence to adolescents intended).

  6. I didn't buy my Superb from Farmers because they declined to quote to my fleet supplier although given the opportunity. I booked my car in for a service, arrived at 08:15, found they don't open until 08:30 (late for a motor dealer) but they kept us locked out until nearly 08:50. Serviced the car OK but did not know what parts to order for my damaged glovebox. After 2 further visits they had not called me back as promised regarding repairing my glovebox which has not had a lock for 3 months.

I will NOT be returning to Farmers.

  7. I think my Superb is great. But I seem to have great problems finding a good dealer. The first one purports to open ay 08:30, rarely has the doors open before 08:45 (even when it is hissing down with rain) and although promising to ring me when required parts arrive, never do and on telephoning they deny any knowledge of said waiting parts. So I move through 2 further dealers who do not accept Overdrive cards (this is only one of the biggest fleet maintenance cards in the UK). So then I try a fourth dealer. It takes me 4 calls to arrange a service. When I finally arrive at the garage, they deny that the car is booked in at all. When I manage to prove that is is, they service it, tell me that they need to order 2 small items and they will contact me.

Six weeks later and I am still waiting.

I am just about to move to Oxford, can anyone give me a recommendation of a dealer within reach of Oxfordshire who might accept fleet cards and can be relied upon to order parts and tell you that they have them?

If I don't get a better dealer experience I will NOT be ordering another Skoda, and I am frustrated because I LOVE the car! But I need it to earn a living and need hassle-free servicing.

  8. I have an 18 month old Superb 130TDi with 45,000 miles on the clock and have had this problem occasionally ever since new. Always when stationary, and double clutching always cures it. I mentioned this to a guy who was an ex-dealer and he told me that the gearbox is a VW gearbox and they are prone to this, something to do with the way the linkage operates. He claims that VW Golf used to be very prone to the same problem in certain variants but didn't know whether it is the same or similar gearbox. I don't find this is a big problem, but I guess it would be if it happened more often. VW traditionally never have been renowned for their gearboxes.....

  9. Welcome :wavey:

Do you find if you get any stick' date=' a ride soon changes minds ?[/quote']

Absolutely....people notice the quality of the finish, then the comfort, then the space in the back. I've never had ONE negative comment from anyone who has actually travelled in the car

  10. Just another hello message from yet another Skoda owner. I work for a very large corporation, no-one else drives a Skoda there YET! But since people have seen my Superb, I don't think it will be long.......
