  1. Of course I will pop in from time to time. The withdrawal pangs after five years are too strong!! All the best you lucky Superb owners!!
  2. Sad day for me. I've traded my Superb Elegance in for a VW Golf (103 TSI). Just downsized our house to a much smaller villa and the Skoda is just too snug in the garage. With 85000kms on the clock its just about the right time. Haven't had any serious problems with the car and sorry to see it go - such a great car to drive!! Will pop in here from time to time to see what's happening. Thanks Briskoda...I gained many a useful tip from the posts.
  3. I like it. Probably owes some of its design to Jag but still a good look.
  4. Are you using Dunlop Sports Max tyres?? Dreadful sawtoothing issues with that particular tyre. Notice that Skoda are still putting them on new cars notwithstanding their level of crappiness-must be dead cheap in bulk.
  5. I watched the dealer replace mine. Pulled half the boot lining out! Doable but by more mechanically minded than me!!
  6. Happened to me while back when almost empty!! Little gizmo inside the flap is electrically controlled and my died. New part took three weeks to arrive at my dealer. Eventually got the flap open with knife blade wrapped in cloth (to protect paint) and left flap open until repaired. Since discovered that Skoda Aust do not keep parts in stock apart from "high use parts" such as bumpers etc that are damaged in collisions. Sensors and fiddly bits come in from Singapore.. BTW, open gently as the flap catch is plastic and breaking it off turns it into a major issue!
  7. That's pretty cool with the foglights! I was pulled up by a highway patrolman here some time back who reprimanded/cautioned me for using the foglights during the day in the absence of fog. According to him, they are too bright and risky for other drivers. Since then, I have installed aftermarket LED DRLs which seem to me to be brighter than the fogs but compliant!
  8. I've recently noticed my coolant level is down. (where does the fluid go??) are there any critical factors involved in topping up or will any good quality fluid suit?
  9. I heard about the repair kit after mine was fixed with the whole new light assembly. Guess dealers sign a company pledge that they must not suggest cheaper options to owners. I first detected the problem when I was washing the bird remains off the light lens and noticed the whole light assembly moved laterally. Did not see the broken unit as a matter of fact. Reminds me of mechanical shops in Asian countries where I worked for some years....after a service/tuneup, the mechanic invariably hands you a plastic bag of your old parts. Seems when you ask an Australian mechanic for the same thing, they get insulted and assume their integrity is being questioned. Just seems like decent business practice to me.
  10. While back I collected a large white spoonbill while travelling around 100kph. It struck the car beside the grill close to the headlight glass. Did not mark the paintwork but broke the brackets that fasten the headlight assembly in place. Cost over $1000 to replace the entire headlight assembly and the pop out washer gizmo. The bird didn't' make it.
  11. I have 6spd and do not experience your issues at all. Mine downshifts smoothly and none of noticeable ""nosing down"" you describe. I would talk to the dealer and take him for a spin to reassure yourself. A good DSG is a dream!!
  12. Not knowing about the gizmo you can buy to adapt the fog lights to DRL, I had an aftermarket LED set installed. Wired so that they only operate when other head/park lights are off and when the ignition is turned off they remain on for 40 seconds which is handy at night looking for the front door key!! I've struggled with the upload of a photo and hope what I have done works!!
  13. Not sure you can blame the compliance system. My Superb was manufactured in September in Czech Republic and was delivered to me on November 19 (same year)!!
  14. I was being ironic....sorry if too subtle Old chap.
