Hi folks,
Thinking about going to look at this car, do i need to look out for anything in particular?
Was fancying a diesel tbh but if i was going to go for one i think it would have to be the common rail version but as the mileage i do per year is low the extra expense would be unwarranted i feel and the horror stories about the pd engines and dpf's are knocking me off the earlier model diesels.
I had a mk 1 fabia vrs and i loved it but obviously no dpf there :-).
Here's the car anyway, what do you guys think?

Hi,
Thanks for the sound advice there Mort :-).
Well i took the plunge and have purchased a Nikon D3100 with the 18-55mm lens for a really good price.........and a dummies book for it haha.
Looking forward to getting to grips with it, heard a lot of good things about it.

Is this the 70k or the 80k bush?

Hi,
I'm fancying a go at photography guys, complete and utter newb apart from the old point and shoots but would like to get into it further for myself.
Been looking at dslr's tbh but i'm wondering if its too big a jump for a beginner like me?
Had my eye on the canon 1100d, any advice whether these are any good? Read a few review and they seem to do ok.
Dont wanna go daft and spend a load on a super duper camera if i'm not going to get as much use as i would like too.
Any advice would be great :-)

Hi,
What type of wheel bolts should be used with the ocatvia vrs spiders? Taper or radius seats?
Also what is the minimum size hubcentric spacers that will fit on the back of a Fabia vrs? I'm thinking 15mm ones but has anyone ran less?

Spot on mate, i will give that a look at but the garage had actually fixed the load sense wire as it was broke but you never know they may have missed it .
Pm'd you with the pics of the said guide so just ignore that lol.

Yes, that's the fan controller.
Ahhh with you now, How would i test if there is power going to it? unplug the connectors and measure the voltage with a multimeter when switching something on and off like the a/c?
I had this exact problem. There is a connector right where the alternator sense wire is. It breaks the the same as the sense wire. I cut the connector out and reconnected it and it worked.
Hmmm really, could this have been broke if the alternator had been removed for instance? because it has....could you explain more in detail the position of this wire? Does that run in the sheath for the main alternator cable/plug?
Cheers for help guys, its much appreciated

Do you have power to the fan controller?
Lost me lol.
Do you mean the relay module that hangs off a bracket in front of the n/s front wheel or do you mean something else?

Hi guys,
Having air con woes at the minute.
Vagcom has brought a fault code that is 00898 and it won't clear, It has been regassed by a local garage before being ran on diagnostics straight after the regas.
The fans on the radiator aren't kicking in when the a/c button is switched on but the light stays on until i switch it off.
I have a fan relay module to change over but when i plugged it in the other day to test it nothing improved.
Any ideas?

Hi there,
Noticed last week my a/c wasn't really as effective as it has been, scanned it tonight with a vag com cable and it has revealed the following fault codes.
17911 P1503 Load signal from Alternator Term. DF Range/performance/Incorrect Signal
18043 P1635 Data Bus Powertrain missing message f.air condition control
Would these be linked and it there any obvious rectifications for it?
I had initially thought that it just needed the system to be recharged but would this lead to these fault codes or is there something else happening?
Any answers would be welcome as i am stumped.

Hi Dougie,
I take it that the crack are on the inner rim of the wheels?
I'm self employed and 2 of us run a business called Kimera Fabrications soon to be Proform Engineering.......Google kimerafabrications.co.uk (sorry for the plug) lol.
Anyway we specialise in automotive fabrications and welding, we do LOTS of wheel repairs for local tyre fitting centres at a cost of £25 per crack depending on severity of it.
For it to be a sound wheel again the whole crack needs cut out and built up with weld from both sides and then re-profiled, as simply just welding over the top of it and then dressing it off will mean it will crack again on the first few potholes.........which is what alot of companies will do and charge the earth for the pleasure of it.
This whole 'correct' process usually takes around 1 hour to complete.
Only thing is we are based in Cumbria so we may be of no help to you.
PM me if you want any help with anything.
Cheers

Not one required really pretty easy....
. Wheel off.
. Loosen off hamdbrake cable in cabin to allow a lot of slack in cable.
. Unclip cable from caliper
. Undo carrier/caliper bolt. Believe it's a 13mm spanner and a 13mm socket
. Caliper off. Now you can remove hose from it.
. carrier is held onto hub with two bolts, 17mm IIRC.
. Carrier is now able to come off
. Now disc can be removed, remove screws and tap off evenly with rubber mallet.
Personally I'd remove splash guards at this point as new discss will run foul, or you can trim to suit.
Reverse process with new caliper/disc
This is what i was wondering about tbh , do you gain access to the cable by removing the handbrake console and plastic shrouds?

Good luck with them because i fought on for weeks with them.........and got sweet F.A. thanks to the to55er in the dealership.........but i could pay £150 for an 'independent inspector' that only Skoda UK could arrange and not yourself to come see the rust all over the back end of my Fabia......Wonder who's favour that would have went in?
I got the car fixed for £250 in the end up
Anyway thats my experience, hope you have better luck
Possible purchase on the cards
in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)

thanks guys, is there anything in particular to watch out with the tfsi engines?
Would love the diesel tbh esp for the tax amount but is the running costs mpg etc that much different when i am doing 6-8k per year?
I suppose the later petrol version is £200 per year tax and probably a little cheaper over the diesel .
Still looking anyway but might go and see this one and take a test drive as i have never driven one
