The car needs to have *some* connection in order for it to work, a better alternative is to get a sim card for the infotainment system slot in the glove box. I got a free one from 3 that just has 200mb of monthly data, to test it out, works fine: https://www.three.co.uk/Free_SIM_MBB/Order

Oh, and in the spirit of the thread, here's our new ride: To replace our ageing Mk2 Octy VRS. Should probably update my profile. -

Nice. Can you tell me what roof bars those are? Trying to find a pair for my hatch. Have they damaged the paintwork or door seals at all? -
Does the knock happen more when you're turning at low speed? Likely culprit could be the suspension strut top mount bearing.

I can't screw the rear brake cylinder back in
chr1staylor replied to Zod's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Possibly obvious question but have you unscrewed the lid of the brake reservoir in the engine bay? -
That's not really the Mike, from 2007ish onwards the jumbo pack was standard fit, the majority of vrses on the road/in scrapyards should have one.

You should be able to order all the required parts from a dealer if you're prepared to pay a premium, otherwise it's a case of scouring eBay and getting lucky. Check link in my sig for full fitting guide.

(Belated thanks to Phil for the detailed instructions posted above, although not needed in the end) Hi Tim. I noticed that if I pressed the button really lightly it would occasionally work. Then I made a point of repeatedly pressing the button every time I got in the car for a few weeks and that seems to have more or less sorted it. I think it was largely down to the fact it hasn't been used for ages, the contact had dried out, regularly and repeatedly tapping it brought it back to life.

ABC-CarService Pudsey - Another "Thank You"
chr1staylor replied to DPS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Anyone know if these guys are still going? Their website no longer works: http://www.abc-carservice.co.uk/ Can anyone recommend an alternative indie nearer to Ilkley instead if they aren't?- 1 reply

The standard cig lighter/12v socket is permanently live so if the guy piggybacked onto the same wiring I'd expect your new 12v supply to act the same.

New Front Discs and Pads
chr1staylor replied to gazpot0111645's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Fair warning, the rears are an absolute pig compared to the fronts. Access to get enough leverage on the M14 spline caliper carrier bolts is bloody awful. -
The manual is very specific about using the right specification coolant, needs to be G12 spec, also known as TL774D iirc.
