  1. The car needs to have *some* connection in order for it to work, a better alternative is to get a sim card for the infotainment system slot in the glove box. I got a free one from 3 that just has 200mb of monthly data, to test it out, works fine: https://www.three.co.uk/Free_SIM_MBB/Order
  2. Another option here: https://www.carnoisseur.com/products/details/rgm-rearguard-to-fit-skoda-superb-rbp864 Looks like it covers the lip well.
  3. Oh, and in the spirit of the thread, here's our new ride: To replace our ageing Mk2 Octy VRS. Should probably update my profile.
  4. Nice. Can you tell me what roof bars those are? Trying to find a pair for my hatch. Have they damaged the paintwork or door seals at all?
  5. Does the knock happen more when you're turning at low speed? Likely culprit could be the suspension strut top mount bearing.
  6. Possibly obvious question but have you unscrewed the lid of the brake reservoir in the engine bay?
  7. That's not really the Mike, from 2007ish onwards the jumbo pack was standard fit, the majority of vrses on the road/in scrapyards should have one.
  8. You should be able to order all the required parts from a dealer if you're prepared to pay a premium, otherwise it's a case of scouring eBay and getting lucky. Check link in my sig for full fitting guide.
  9. (Belated thanks to Phil for the detailed instructions posted above, although not needed in the end) Hi Tim. I noticed that if I pressed the button really lightly it would occasionally work. Then I made a point of repeatedly pressing the button every time I got in the car for a few weeks and that seems to have more or less sorted it. I think it was largely down to the fact it hasn't been used for ages, the contact had dried out, regularly and repeatedly tapping it brought it back to life.
  10. Anyone know if these guys are still going? Their website no longer works: http://www.abc-carservice.co.uk/ Can anyone recommend an alternative indie nearer to Ilkley instead if they aren't?
  11. Details in link in my sig if you're still interested in retro-fitting an armrest/jumbo box.
  12. The standard cig lighter/12v socket is permanently live so if the guy piggybacked onto the same wiring I'd expect your new 12v supply to act the same.
  13. Fair warning, the rears are an absolute pig compared to the fronts. Access to get enough leverage on the M14 spline caliper carrier bolts is bloody awful.
  14. The manual is very specific about using the right specification coolant, needs to be G12 spec, also known as TL774D iirc.
  15. Should be rev N for an 06, I replaced mine a year or so ago.
  16. Probably a dealer-only part if you want it quickly. I'm not actually sure what the alternative option is now I've looked at the diagram again, it's part no. 8 on this: VAG part no: 1Z0 857 961 Also another thread about it here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/76107-rear-cup-holders/
  17. Don't seem to be able to edit my own post, but here's the link I was talking about: http://www.auto-parts.spb.ru/cat/au/au.mycat?SelPg&t=px0wGn4dMBo4HTAa5UdYI5ZcaTz0REy/P9YwGpJCsCqnXTJlRjE4lrcxGAenPTCTqk4T35V7kbqhkmCc9FGynQ9ns3CTGVkyjtjxWWzZbK2ZWBKw7VKpS_1UQ/zXbSYSn/G4sxSFPvvEJAOub7kiO7ZNVV96ANehsRelo6tPZBwKW1SxbVPMtS6gu9LFJX4Vy2XpL8oY5e_4GTTbPcslBSykEoaPVQ5Ia3iw
  18. Should be a link to an exploded diagram in the jumbo box retrofit thread linked in my sig. As far as I'm aware the vents are the only option for the top section but there are a couple of choices for the lower section, cup holder or ashtray/cubby hole.
  19. What, the one that didn't exist until 2 years after he wrote that post?
  20. Sounds exactly like the typical lumpy idle really, rev counter doesn't tend to twitch. First stop would be to check and replace the pcv valve. Plenty of threads on that here if you just search for pcv.
  21. Might also need to replace the CAN gateway to avoid battery drain, hopefully someone else can confirm if the Amundsen causes this, it is an issue with most other more modern headunits.
  22. Should also mention, the hardest part of this otherwise very easy job is getting the engine cover off. Details on that here: http://www.s****monkey.com/vw/jetta/2006/remove_engine_cover/
  23. Mine's an 06 too and I used the N revision when I changed it last year (or maybe the year before actually). If you call your local skoda dealer parts dep. and quote the N part number they will be able to tell you if it's been superceded.
  24. Depends what age your car is, the part changed slightly around 07/08. Earlier type is 06F 129 101 N. Later type also have an extra valve on the back, so part nos. 06F 129 101 P + 06F 103 215 B
