  1. I have uneven tyre wear on the f/n/s and think this goes back to hitting a deep pothole about 6 months ago. The tread depth is now 2mm.

I've just had my 20,000 service (14200 on the clock) and been advised by D M Keith in Bradford that I should have a 4 wheel alignment check once I get the 2 new tyres fitted on the front as it is likely that this misalignment is the cause of the uneven wear.

  2. I seem to have a intermittent fault on my Superb 2 and I was wondering if anybody else had encountered or resolved the problem.

Since I got the car when it is dark and you unlock or leave the car the lights come on for 10 seconds to provide what most manufacturers

term Total Illumination so that you can see the area around the car.

This worked faultlessly for over a year but now only seems to work when it feels like it (on unlocking the car) but always when leaving and locking the car. I have tried resetting the delay time to 20 secs via the information menu and restoring factory lighting settings neither of which makes the fault dissappear.

I wonder if it might be a fault with the rear view mirror not sensing it is dark enough but it lacks consistency when it fails.

Are there any other sufferers out there? I spoke to skoda who did not seem to think the Superb II had such a feature but then said it must be a fault. As I am 90mins from nearest dealer it will otherwise have to await its next service.

Great Car - Other than Sat Nav and the fact the iphone wont connect due to rsap!

I also have an intermittent fault with the "leaving home lights" not working every time. Whereas the "coming home lights" work every time. My car is six months old and the fault started about a month ago. I don't think it's worth taking it in to the dealership but If the problem persists then I'll mention it on the service. I've tried changing the settings but the fault remains. Despite this minor irritation it's still a brilliant car.

  3. Hi All

Had this problem myself 2 weeks ago.

Found a solution on a seat forum.

Simple solution; first open (fully) and then close (fully) all windows, and then try again.

    Regards

    Hi Miljan,

Just been out to try your suggestion and yes it worked.

That's just saved me a visit to the dealers next week. I'll take delight in pointing this out to their service department.

    Many thanks.

    Regards

  4. Could be... It has been quite cold here the last couple of days.

    /P

No, in fact the problem only started when the temperature started warming up (relatively!) and it will still fold when operated from the mirror control knob.

The upshot is that the dealer can't identify the problem so he needs the car in the workshop to rectify the problem.

I'll keep you posted. Thanks for your input.

  5. I always keep it in the "L" position so I get the n/s dropped mirror when reversing.

I've just tried the 2 second unlock and I'm on "auto window" but these haven't worked unfortunately.

Looks like I'm back to the dealers next week.

Many thanks for your thoughts anyway.

Apart from this very minor blip the car is perfect.

  6. The mirrors have always folded in by keeping the "lock" button pressed on the remote for 2 seconds.

On Friday the mirrors refused to fold. There was no ice obstructing the mirrors and I've not altered any settings on the MDF.

The mirrors will still fold when operated by the knob on the door so I know they are still operational.

Can anyone offer suggestions as to why they have stopped folding or is it a trip to the dealers?

  7. the time is getting closer for me to swap my company vehicle which is on a lease scheme

Currently I have an '08 L&K Octy, 2L TDI PD 140bhp... and I've been very happy with it - if I was being picky I would complain about rear leg room and road noise, but other than that I have been well happy. Its actually my second octy in a row.

So for my new vehicle it looks like I can get a new Superb saloon at a comparable cost...the Elegance model at 140bhp

The 170bhp is going to cost me about another £30 a month and I'm trying to keep the cost down as much as I can really so I can afford to include a few extras (metallic paint, upgraded sound, hill hold & KESSY)

Considering the extra physical size/weight of the Superb compared to my octy, will I be dissapointed in the 140bhp CR engine?

I have to admit I have not test deriven one yet, but as I only get a restricted number of tests before ordering a new car I'd rather try the engine I'm most likely to purchase

..so everyones opinions here would be greatly appreciated.

    cheers emoticon-0100-smile.gif

Lets face it, it all depends on how you want to drive "your" car. You're gonna get lots of differing answers from people, all telling you their own opinions and at the end of the day you have to make that decision for yourself. Go on and have a test drive.

For what it's worth I had a Lexus LS430 V8 for 3 years until I got my 140 DSG Superb Elegance in September and despite the massive drop in power I'm still over the moon with the new car and I reckon the power is damn good for the size of the car and I've no quarms in recomending the 140 CR to anyone. I've only got 2.5k miles on the clock so I'm sure things will get even better when the engine is run in.

  8. I'm not a huge fan of "bright" silver cars, and my current car is black. I opted for Steel Grey as looking at the pictures and the swatch in the showroom it seemed an ideal compromise... not too bright, but then better than black (which is never clean!). I've ordered the sunset glass too.

The car is an Estate Elegance TDI CR 170 DSG... but having just been to the showroom to let my wife have a look at the Fabia's, I saw what I believed was a Steel Grey twin hatch in the car park... and I didn't like the colour! emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Now I'm hoping that the estate will carry the Steel Grey colour far better than the saloon... but I'd be grateful if all you Steel Grey Estate owners could wow me with your photos and convince me that I've chosen the right colour emoticon-0124-worried.gif

I've had my Steel Grey 140 DSG saloon for a month now and am really pleased that I ordered this colour (I suppose I would say that wouldn't I) but I've been amazed at the number of people who have been passing and commented " New car - what a lovely colour etc".

I test drove an estate in Steel Grey and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

    Happy motoring.

  9. I took delivery of my new Steel Grey 140 DSG twindoor last Thursday and I'm absolutely delighted.

I thought I knew what to expect but this certainly exeeds all my expectations.

I've had plenty of comments from friends and neighbours about the "smashing looking new car" etc. One even commented about my new executive car.

Just one person has taken execption to the new car today and thrown a 20p coin and damaged the paintwork on the boot whilst parked in the drive. B*****d!

By the way can anyone suggest where I can by VW507 oil at a reasonable price?

  10. Hmmm,

I have an Octavia Scout. There was talk on the Octavia forum a few months ago that there is now a factory option to replace the standard halogen front fogs and replace them with LED DRL's in leiu of the fogs. They are as your picture (which I think is for the Scout), four LED's behind the same round glass lense that fit into the same bumper apperture.

I already mentioned the face lift Octavia vRS - they have a strip of LED's above and seperated from the fog light. FL (non vRS) Octavia's use the same set-up as the Superb, next to the front fog - but halogens not LED's.

I've yet to see or read of DRL's for the Fabia, halogen or DRL?

Again, I've not seen or heard of any LED options for the Superb (other than the wing mirror repeaters and Far Eastern rear light clusters)?

So again, I'm quite sure the Octavia vRS is the only Skoda on sale in the UK with LED DRL's, I'd be interested to know if this has changed and if they are now available on the Superb...

I have a Superb on order, due September, and have asked the dealer when DRL LED's will be fitted as standard but they don't seem to know anything about them.

  11. As of the May 25th brochure the only changes (from the April 1st brochure) are:

    S

Looses the Interior door handle illumination,

Looses the umbrella in rear door

but gains the Glasses storage compartment.

    SE

Now has the Interior door handle illumination (that used to come as std on all spec's)

Looses the umbrella in rear door

    Elegance

Looses the umbrella in rear door

I ordered my Superb Elegance on 25th May and after reading this topic I have asked my dealer today if the umbrella will be included and the reply was an resounding "NO - they were deleted on all orders in May" He also added the old favourite "...of course they can change the specification at any time without notice".

Nice one Skoda - that's how to treat customers! Now they are becoming just like all the other manufactureres.

  12. Driven a CR170 DSG, as I am choosing a new Car. Had the old Superb with a 130 PD Auto and that felt fine with performance. Can't help thinking that I could save a chunk of money and go for the 140DSG.

No body seems to have a 140 DSG to drive? are they underpowered? Also If I go for the 140 could add a load of options to get it to the same price as the 170?

Anyone got the CR140 DSG? does it drive OK? is it any noisier than the 170?

    Thanks in advance!!!

    ABP

I couldn't test drive a 140 as the dealer only had the 170 dsg.

Like you I used to have a Mk1 130pd (manual) and found the performance quite acceptable for me so I'm hopeful the 140CD dsg is going to be ok.

The cost differerence between the 170 & 140 has allowed me to order some options.

Delivery expected late August so should get it on a 60 plate.

  13. How did you obtain build week info? My dealer says it takes ages to get one. Although I ordered the car 3 weeks ago, they still can't tell me anything.

I think the dealer told me the build week about 3 weeks after I placed the order.

I'm told there is a three week holiday period at the factory about now so this is obviously factored into the lead times. Let's hope everyone gets back from holiday fully refreshed and ready to build perfect cars for us!

  14. I ordered a Steel Grey 140CR dsg twindoor on 25th May with many extras inc sunroof & heated screen and have been given build week 31, which is early August apparently. I expect to take delivery early September.(I haven't ordered the solar sunroof as I had one on my Mk1 and the guy next door lit a garden fire on a hot day, consequently the fan pulled in the smoke and despite thorough cleaning the entire car was smelling of smoke for many weeks)

    Looking forward to September!

  15. Halton Moor, then Crossgates, then East End Park, then Headingley, then Horsforth, now Rothwell.............

Moved around a bit :giggle: Don't remember Cowsheds but maybe i'm not old enough.

    You've been around a bit aven't you?

You'd probably need to be in your 50's to have gone to Harehills "Cowsheds" school, aka Gipton and then it became Harehills Secondary Modern before it closed many, many years ago. Happy memories.

  16. Just down the road from you in Eccleshill! ...no, not you Sausage - I'm talking to Ian! :D

    Welcome aboard! :hi:

    Thanks to you all.

I'm through Eccleshill a couple of times a week.

    Cheers

  17. Hi,

I previously owned a gold Superb 1.9 tdi Elegance for almost 2 years in 2005/6 and thought it was a great car.Since then I have had other cars until now.

I've just ordered my 2nd Superb. This time I've opted for a 2.0 140bhp Elegance DSG saloon.

Can't wait for delivery in September.
