  1. Thanks yet again @toot
  2. I'm gonna sound absolutely clueless (yet again) but what's the difference in e5 and e10? I know as much as its ethanol content, but what harm/good is it using either? Especially for this engine. I had next to no love for my past few cars, and I rarely drove them tbf, so it got any old fuel thrown in. Now I've traded the ex missus in and got a car I want, I wonna treat it a little better
  3. Cheers Gaz. Planning on running on a premium, just unsure which. Can't actually think of a tesco near me. Closest is asda, BP OR Sainsburys
  4. Believe it or not, I have tried the search function, but I'm obviously just a duck egg. What fuel have you guys found to be the best for your petrol RS?
  5. There she is, for anyone interested
  6. Thanks Yogi. It hasn't been done, but I will do now knowing I won't cause issues. Thanks!
  7. Hi, I've just picked up a 2019 octavia vrs. First off, I need to say I'm an absolute technological novice! 😳 I was thinking of doing a factory reset on the infotainment unit, so I can start a fresh, getting rid off all the linked devices/locations and such like. But, if I was to do that, would I lose any important data/updates, anything like that? Thanks
  8. Agreed, thanks to all who contributed and helped me out! Also, I have to give a mention to Arnold Clark. I know I can't speak for them all, and I did have my reservations. But to be fair to them at A.C in Oldbury, I couldn't fault them. I raised servicing issues I thought the car hadn't received, notably no diff service, brake fluid change and air con service. They did all that, brand new discs and pads all round, 4 new tires and referbed 2 wheels. Gave it a full service and stuck 12 months MOT on it, even tho I think it was within their 6 month policy. One more thing while I'm here... if I do a factory reset on the infotainment system, I'm not likely to lose anything important am I?
  9. So, im now the happy owner of a mk3 254 challenge 😁 First impressions are, its a cracking car. Love the heated seats!! Only used to the seat pad being heated in my old car. Also, wasn't aware the rear seats were heated too! Kids will love that! Comfort mode still feels firmish but manageable. Sports is harsh, but feels fantastic throwing it around a B road. Think the infotainment might take some getting used to! I aint very technically minded! Small niggles... n/s wing mirror doesn't seem to go back after dropping when in reverse, unless I put the control knob back to centre? Aint been able to connect via android connect thingy, tho only had a brief play. And, still absolutely hate the gloss black spoiler! Other than that, it puts a huge smile on my face after driving family busses for the last 10 or so years!
  10. Ah ok bud, cheers. That's shocking with the missus' car tho! Lucky you managed to buff it out
  11. ^^^ requesting that the diff is serviced, I was referring to, sorry.
  12. Agreed. As the car has just gone over 40k miles, I don't think its out of the question that I ask for it to be done now. As for the DQ381, they'd be daft to agree to that to be honest, so I'll take that on the chin
  13. Hey @Fuzzarr I hear what you're saying, and I agree some things I'm sure, can be left far longer than the schedule suggests. But being the typical tight Yorkshireman, for the price I'd be paying I'd expect these things done. I don't wonna buy it, then a few thousand miles down the road, have to be forking out on 500 quids worth of work. Not to mention they've screwed me down on the part ex price, so trying to scramble that back. I did think about trying my luck on the gearbox oil too. And I know the general feeling in here is to look at having it serviced every 40k, but the skoda schedule does say 80k, so I doubt I'd have had any luck there.
  14. Yeah fair points. More than likely all above board I'm sure. Just dunno if I'm being over cautious or talking myself out of it almost, as its such an expensive purchase (for me atleast) and realistically, I would be happier buying from someone other than Arnold Clark, but its taken me a while to find the exact car. Just happens to be with them 🤷‍♂️
  15. I get your point @Gammyleg and it makes sense. Its just strange to me that only 4/5 months into a PCP contract(?) Its up for sale. But more strange, i would atleast expect to see it on VAG forecourt rather than an arnold Clark, Fiat/jeep forecourt
  16. So, been on the phone to my local dealer. Guy I talked to was sound, buy he said they can only see limited information on the system. Told me it was last serviced at a skoda dealer in Plymouth. So been on the phone to them, and they said very similar. Altho they did the last 2 services on the vehicle. But only filters and oil changed. So, from the little knowledge I've gained, it's sounding like, at a minimum, the plugs nor the diff oil have been changed.
  17. This comes out at £683, all component cover with £100 excess
  18. Quick update. This is from Skoda UK live chat....
  19. Yeah, i doubt I'll touch it if they can't provide me the full history. I have just emailed Skoda UK, and if I get chance today, I'll pop into my local dealer, see if they'll provide me any information. On the warranty point, I've been looking at options. Would the 'Skoda all in' or an independent warranty company be the better option?
  20. For what reason might you give it a miss Toots? I am still trying to fathom any reasoning behind the turn around
  21. Thanks for that @toot. So, doing a little more digging. The car I'm going to look at, had a 50 month PCP on it (with VWFS) at the end of Nov 22, private plate put on early Dec 22. Now 4 months later, Arnold Clark have it? Not sure what to think about that, if anything at all. Kinda seems strange to me, but I dont know how the whole PCP thing works. Clarks salesman says they're obviously settling the finance. I dunno why but I can't get my head around the sequence of events
  22. @Giantstu Sorry for hijacking the thread... Stu, how long you been using Keiths, and how'd you find them? I'm hopefully collecting a new car soon. Been looking for a decent independent in the area, but not had any luck yet. could consider DM Keiths if they're any good
  23. @tootyou've been a great help so far. Just to pick your brains a bit more, I think I know the answer, but would you recommend a main deal or an independent specialist. Also, wheres the best place to get service information? I.e dates/miles, what needs doing when. Generally I've just had annual services, everything changed (all filters, oil and plugs) I'd like to try keep on top of this the best I can. Cheers
  24. These are all things I need to discuss when they've got the vehicle there @Toots. I've already told him if there's any decent dents, scratches, scrapes, I wonna know about them before I even consider going to see it in person. On the walk around video, I want him to focus on wheels/tires, and brakes
  25. That's thr one. If I'm honest I don't think yhe picture quality does it justice
