  1. Ah that would have helped. Could be wrong but I think the V-5 Was cheaper when I ordered. Tho it does look like a bigger unit to be fair
  2. I'm giving Waze another try, so I've ordered the 5.0 version, just cos I don't like the idea of the dongle hanging out with having clumsy kids! Out of interest, what does the 5.0version do over the dongle? Is it just carplay?
  3. Any usb that's 3.1 I'd imagine. A quick search on a selling site and they should tell you if they're capable of data transfer
  4. Just throwing it out there, but I'm still old school. Have my phone in a holder to use Google maps. AA is OK, but I like the real time speed which you don't get on AA, unless I'm missing summat. I've also found things like accidents/road closures/mobile speed cameras don't seem as accurate on AA as apposed to using Google on my phone. Not sure why
  5. You may have got your answer in the replies, but I had issue at first setting it up. The lead I was using wasn't suitable for data transfer
  6. Cheers bud, I'll have a read through these. As for tyre type, living in Yorkshire we get the typical seasonal weather, no extremes of snow like other places in the country. I'm still pretty new to the DSG box, and seem to recall reading a thread about you don't have quite the same amount of control over a manual in certain situations. Probably just thinking over cautiously
  7. Well the tyres that are on currently are Churchill 225/35R19, but thats by the by. They're no good so I don't want to copy them? Also, I appreciate the current wheel size will be stamped on, but usually require taking the wheel off and unfortunately laid up with a broken leg, im not in a position to do that right now. My question was more what size aftermarket wheels have others fit without issues 👍
  8. Hi all, I have tried looking through other posts, so im sorry if I'm asking whats I may have already missed. Coming up to 12months owning my '19 octavia vrs challange DSG. When I bought it, the dealer put 4 new tyre on it which seem terrible quality, very poor grip in corners, especially in wet, so I want to change them for starters. Car has the black and polished 19" extremes, which I'm not a big fan of tbh, plus both N/S have taken a bit of kerb damage. So this is where my dilemma starts. Luckily last winter was quite mild so I didn't have too much trouble, but I'm wondering if I should go with 2 sets of wheels/tyres. Is that what most you guys do, or is a good all weather tyre fine for the UK? And if that's the case, what would be wheel size/tyre recommendations? I like the look of the 19"s but not the style, so want to stay with the same diameter, But as I've been looking around sets of aftermarket wheels, the majority seem to be a width of 8.5", but I'm of the understanding the standard octavia 19s are 7.5"? Is there any manufacturer tolerances to stick to for width and offset? Sorry if I come across as sounding clueless, but we'll.... I'm clueless 🤷🏼‍♂️
  9. Cracking colour that bud. Looking forward to seeing them with the car
  10. Showing your age mate 🤣 who didn't want the stututututu, back in the day
  11. As @MarkyG82says, it's an internal wastegate, to regulate boost pressure. From my little knowledge, it is quite common and not much to worry about. But if it starts affecting performance, gets more noticeable more often or starts to throw up error codes, then obviously it'd need investigating
  12. Ummm, it was the wrong type battery in my fob
  13. Interesting. I have tried searching for pictures but only managed to find a couple poor quality ones. I'll stick with the extremes until they undoubtedly start showing wear and weather damage. Then maybe look at something different. Keep us posted with yours @MO230 be interested to see them if you go for it
  14. I love the bronze wheel look. Maybe I should be too old for it now, but it can be a cracking colour combination, especially on black. I half keep considering it myself, but don't think it would go well with rally green
  15. @Gaz I would hope it would be something as simple as battery the wrong way round, I wouldn't put it past myself! Anyway, never thought of trying the spare key battery, and it works in my old key! Cheers. Problem being, the battery in my old key was a cr2025, so that's what I replaced it with... but the battery in the spare is a cr2032
  16. Hi @Gaz nope, removed all the stickers from the new battery. My 2nd key does work, but it was out of the way in my bedroom, pretty sure we'll out of range to interfere with anything. That's also the strange thing, I've had no warnings whatsoever about the battery getting low
  17. A little help guys. Just come back from a shopping trip, and I couldn't lock the car with the fob. Generally I use the KESSY system, as I have been while I've been out. But I tried locking the car with the fob but it didn't work. The LED isn't lighting when I press a button. Car will start if I push the s/s button with the key, and will obviously lock and unlock with the blade in the keyhole. Grabbed the manual out, as the dash said something about holding the key to a surface or something? But couldn't find anything about that in the manual. I did however have a brand new battery (packaged and expiry of 2027) changed that, but still no working operation or even LED lighting up. Any ideas on this one? Cheers
  18. She's a rare breed! When we were looking, she was shocked how small the holders were, and I do agree they are smaller than most I've come across. Ut wasn't til after buying the car, we realised hers fit. And for what it's worth, my cup is a Contigo, it just doesn't taper at the base like some 😁
  19. I do prefer it on the bigger screen, but unless there's an update I don't have yet, Gmaps does have the road speed limit, but mine definitely doesn't show my speed. As for waze, I have read a couple things on it, but I didnt seem too impressed. Not had as much time in the car as I'd like yet, but I probably will give it a try 👍
  20. You jest but it nearly came to it! 🤣 she's smug as her travel cup fits in the octy, mine, like @Hilly81 goes in the door pocket
  21. Thanks @Fuzzarr there are a few things missing i wish it had, mainly blindspot indicators and reversing camera, but more luxuries than needs. @MarkyG82cheers bud. Obviously not to everyone's taste, but I think the colour looks amazing, especially cleaned up on a sunny day. I would have preferred an estate if I'm honest, but purely cos I think they look marginally nicer than the hatch, but its by no means a complaint. As for the android auto, got it all working no issues, but don't use it. I prefer Google maps straight from the phone, just cos it has real time speed and think it picks up more speed cameras. Something I need now more than ever 😕
  22. Both me and the other half have just bought new cars. The cup holder size was high on her list of must haves, believe it or not!! She can't stand the size of the ones on the octy. Mindblowingly to me, it was a deal breaker on her part!
  23. For Mk3 Octavia hatch. What looks like an aftermarket (semi rigid) plastic bootliner. Good condition £20 For pick up in West Yorkshire area. Near Wakefield/Leeds. Genuinely have no clue at prices but rules say I have to add them, so open to offers. Cheers 😁
  24. Can someone point me to a thread regarding VCDS for dummies? I've heard a lot of people talking about it, and that you can play about and fine tune various settings, so I'd be quit interested. I just don't really know if my tech knowhow would stretch to it. I did have a little search online, but I wouldn't even know where to start purchasing the right gear 😕
  25. Is it accepted etiquette to BUMP a thread? 😁
