  1. but needed for gap insurance.

I should be getting the same model on PCH in the next week or so, so was going to be checking out GAP prices soon. Would be useful to know who you are using if you have done the research already

  2. I'm in a similar situation to 'Johnnyboy1978', though I have already placed an order (PCH) for a 1.2 Monte Carlo DSG around 4 weeks ago.  I've also always bought my cars before, so this is the first time 'hiring'.

I had a diesel Yeti until recently, and a diesel Octavia before that, so am familiar with the fixed/variable servicing dilemma.  I wasn't sure whether the petrol models came with the same choice but I suppose they must, or you wouldn't be asking.  I presumed that mine would just come on 'fixed' servicing  -  I expect to do 18-19k miles over the 2 years, so was hoping to get away with just the one service at the end of year 1, then be handing it back before the 2nd one is due.

I've also been thinking about the tyre situation and hoping that the originals last the 2 years, and will swap them around to even the wear as necessary.

Having to do a second service and replace tyres would likely add £500+ onto the overall cost, so I would obviously wish to avoid that if possible (though, even with that added on, it would still be considerably cheaper than buying the car for 2 years).

  3. Thanks for all the replies - that appears to have cleared up my confusion (so the black roof was standard, then briefly became an option, and is now unavailable :x ).

Just recently sold my 2013 L&K, and was looking at PCH deals for Monte Carlo's as a replacement.  Wasn't impressed as they were all factory orders, so weeks of waiting and I don't like the Monte so much with the body coloured roof.  Managed to locate and secure one today that has the black roof, and should be with me in 2-3 weeks time  .

Excuse the dirt - the interior is overdue a clean :-

I have a dashcam fitted too (up behind the rear view mirror), but plan to remove that unless the buyer wishes to purchase it separately :-

  5. Great car - best I've ever had - but getting a bit bored after 3 years, so thinking of a change (but won't be too upset if no-one wants it, and I end up keeping it a couple of more years  )

Link to Gumtree Ad.  - £13,475 ono

I realise I'm a bit remote from most of the country, but I've bought and sold cars over large distances before, so know it 's worth it for the correct car.

  6. We were about to sign up to a Yeti but a great deal on the Octavia Scout came along so we took this for £200 all-in a month...

Where was this from ?, and is it still available ? (I see that Simpsons are £199 per month but with a £2190 deposit)

  7. Hi,

Bought these from SuperSkoda recently for my father's Fabia.  When they arrived I was disappointed to find that you are meant to use a separate template kit to ensure that you fit them in the correct position.  I've searched on here and found a few threads where other people have fitted theirs without using the templates, but to other models (not a Fabia III).

Does anyone have these fitted to their car ?  If so, could they assist with a photo of where they should be positioned or, even better, some measurements from a reference point to one end of the cover for both front and rear ?

  8. And yes. I had my badges done, but they say only a one of on warranty, so if it happens again I will have to pay.

My Yeti is on it's 3rd rear badge - replaced twice under warranty.

I've also had the wheel centre badges replaced, but just once so far.

  9. Guys, while hunting I came across Combi

    http://www.combi.org.uk/products/89/NEW-Mini-0806-Ambarella-A7-1296P-Car-Dash-Camera-DVR-With-GPS

I gave them a call and had a good chat with the chap there. They default their own software and settings to their units and have not had a single return. I gave them a try and have had not a single issue with this unit mini 0806 (batch 3) supplied direct from Combi. I will update again in a week or so, but I truly have had none of the many issues my last unit suffered with.

Is it recording onto both cards ?

  10. Have placed one 128GB micro card into camera slot B, which will register 22 hours +, and stay as selected in/on slot B.

If I place the same card into slot A it will register the same 22hours+ and stay as selected in/on slot A.

If I place two 128GB micro cards into camera, it will still only register 22hours+ whether selecting AUTO/ slot B/ slot A.

If both cards are fitted and AUTO is selected it will use A.

Have swapped cards around and triple checked validity of both cards which were fine/OK.

I did similar tests with my 2 x 64Gb cards.  Same results as you except that my camera prefers to use Card Slot B when in Auto (or even when 'Card A only' is selected)

  11. I'm using 2 x 64Gb as you will have seen above (and also that the camera is choosing to only use 1 of them at the moment). Cost is the problem with 128Gb cards at the moment - I think that a 128Gb card is around £80 while 2 x 64Gb can be had for under £40. I suppose it's only worth paying that premium if you really need 256Gb of storage in your camera.

  12. Have a look here

Looks like we will just have to wait for the update

    John

Thanks for that - I hadn't been to that forum before but it's now in my bookmarks for future reference.

I now have mixed emotions - I'm pleased that my camera does not appear to be faulty (well, no more than everyone else's at least) and that a firmware update should address the issue, but also disappointed that what I now know to be a common issue hasn't been dealt with more promptly by the manufacturer.
