  1. I've sprayed in that general area but didn't know where to target - I don't understand how both stalks fail and recover at the same time unless there is a problem somewhere other than the stalk connections. I will have another spray though when I get a moment, cheers

  2. Having an issue with my stalks, I keep losing the use of my indicators and wipers at the same time. This is sometimes preceded by a buzzing noise from the steering wheel cowling. When the stalks stop working properly, I still have functions which don't require the stalks to go up and down so cruise control still works, full beams and trip computer functions all still work. When the indicators have gone the hazard lights do work.

So what connects both stalks and would only affect the up and down functions?! Any help much appreciated!

  3. Hello,

Drove home today after a day out and the car was suddenly running lumpy at idle, the epc light came on, it went into limp mode, the traction control light came on and the engine management light came on. I also lost proper use of my brakes on two occasions, the pedal was rock hard and I could barely brake. Any help would be appreciated! Just got the codes read:

  4. Ok, I've found the location of the hiss, it's hard to show where but I'll try in the photos:

    Pic1.jpg

That's one end of the pipe, it goes into the T at the location ringed.

    Pic2.jpg

This is the location of where the pipe goes, it feels like it splits in two at this point. It's at this end where the hissing sound is coming from, if I wiggle or push this pipe I can change the intensity of the hiss!

Does anyone know what part number this is and how on earth I would get to it to change it?!

    Many thanks!

  5. Hi again, I went on holiday before I could look at this again but back on it now. Can hear quite a loud hiss when the engine is running, would you expect that? seems to be coming from the driver's side at the front of the engine. Can't find any obvious damaged hoses though. My MPG is shocking, got 19 on my way to work today - a 4 mile trip with 80% of it at 50mph...

  6. Thanks for that guys, not totally sure where all this bits are that you mention but I'll try and get someone to look with me tomorrow! I've definitely seen some braided pipes so I'll start there. Just tried a couple of warm starts by the way and don't get the huge revs after the key turn but it still has a fairly lumpy idle.

  7. Hi, this is the output I get:

  8. I have to admit that the engine management light is on, it has been for several months. The code I read said something about the mix being too lean - can't remember exactly, was told not to worry about it too much though by the mechanic who last serviced it... I was given a cheap cable to read the codes and if I remember correctly it was an absolute pain to get it working! (driver issues mainly) but I'll try again to see if anything else has come up since.

  9. Hello,

I've just started having a problem where when I start my car - much more noticeably when cold, it will rev to almost 2500 rpm, come back down and then be really lumpy to the point of almost stalling. The car seems to drive ok but when idling at traffic lights it'll be lumpy again. I'm not that knowledgeable about engines but is there anything simple I could check?

    Thanks!

  10. I have an original crash bar from my Octy estate if you find you can't unbolt the towball mount..... just along the coast in Weymouth....

Thanks for that, I may well need to take you up on that!

I now have to work out how to take the bumper off, I can see the screws in the wheel arches, then what do I need to do?

    Thanks for all your replies.

  11. Hello,

Just acquired a 2003 Octavia estate L&K and the front speakers didn't sound good at all when the bass was above 1 or 2 (Standard Symphony head unit) the bass was harsh and parpy for want of a better word! I changed the speakers out for some new ones and pretty much the same thing happens - it sounds ok from the rear speakers and the ones in the boot. I just wondered if this was a common issue and if there was any way to mount them better, perhaps clutching at straws a little?!

    Many thanks,

    Andy

  12. Hello,

I've recently been given a 2003 L&K Estate which has a large tow bar on the back. If I come out of my driveway at anything other than snail's pace the bar will hit the concrete and shake the car!

How easy is it to remove? I've felt around and it's as if it's part of the chassis itself - am I missing something, should it just be bolted on somewhere?

    Thanks!
